stay up all night in moscow?hi there,
i'm gonna have to spend one night in november in moscow before taking a train the next day. as the hotels are so expensive i'm thinking about saving the money and just stay up all night. is that safe? are there interior areas where one can wait all night, in stations for example? i assume that november already might be to cool to stay outside...

1I wouldn't stay overnight in the Moscow train stations. You can get a hostel dorm for about $20-25, maybe less because it will be off-season, it's like the price of 4 beers in a bar.

3Metro closes about 0100 and doesn't reopen until 0530.
Train stations are very unsafe with lots of pickpockets etc.
Get yourself a bed in a hostel dorm or use one of the free accommodation exchanges:

I've been in Leningradsky and Kievsky, late at night/early morning, and there were many people in the waiting areas so I don't think it's as risky as the others seem to do...maybe if you're walking around and outside you might want to keep your wits about you, of course...
