Should I Drive or Take Hostel Tour?Good morning,
I will be visiting Jordan for 3 days and I cant decide if I should rent a car or take the hostel tour. I have driven in places like Qatar and Kuwait, but Id want to avoid driving in places like Damascus or Beirut. So my question is should I rent a car, or should I take it safe with the hostel tours? Id like to visit Petra and the Dead Sea as well as the Mosque, Citadel in Amman, as well as Jarresh if I have time.
Are the roads in Amman in confusing? WIll it be a struggle to drive to Petra?
What are your thoughts? What would you do?

1Staying in a hostel in Amman? Do the walk around and taxi to destinations in the city. Not much in the way of parking, and roads and traffic are insane. Rent a car to do the Dead Sea, Petra and Jerash. Directional signs outside Amman (and to get out of Amman) are in Arabic and English and driving is no problem. In addition, there are brown/white tourism signs to get you to the sites you want to visit.

2Petra is a 4 hour drive each way on two lane highways with lots of Trucks. It would be cheaper to just take a JETT bus down there.
It sounds like you have a lot planned for 3 days, maybe it'd be better to stick to a tour from a hostel so that you see more. Otherwise, I'd say drive it yourself. I quite enjoy driving in Jordanian traffic.
