Ferry From Positano to Napoli
Hello everyone,I found this post from July 2010: "The MetrĂ² del Mare (which usually has ferry service from Napoli Naples to Positano) was not operating this year."
I checked on their website and can locate a ferry from Napoli to Postiano but strangely not Positano to Napoli. My Italian is limited, so maybe I am not looking correctly.
Is there a ferry running from Positano (or Amalfi) to Napoli this summer (July)?
Thanks! Grazie!
Allen

Sad to say but the website in question, that 2010 post you've read and the information from the Tardis are all somewhat out of date, since it's looking as though there may well be no MdM this year....Have a read of the most recent posts here...

More or less out of the blue, it's now back after all... but seemingly just until August 31st.Forgive the transfer to another site...

I am trying to gather some information about travelling from Naples to Positano and return for a long weekend at the end of April. We are hoping to minimise the travel time but interested in seeing the area at the same time. I am currently thinking that catching the ferry from Naples to Positano, and the bus back is the best option. I'm having a few issues finding a ferry company and timetables etc. I emailed Metro Del Mare which responded with an automated email saying they have been closed since September 2011.Does anyone know alternative ferry options if the above service is not operating?

I really really doubt there'll be ferries of any sort operating either from Naples or from Sorrento in April. The Naples-Sorrento route is open all year... nearer the time, check here for what's on offer (with changes likely at, and after, Easter!):
http://www.alilauro.it/orari.php?id_tratta=9:10&lingua=italiano&cartella=orari
The only people at all likely to offer Sorrento/Positano are the closely-associated Alicost line... again, once April start, watch for details on:
http://www.alicost.it/content/?id=6
... however, last year, their Sorrento/AC route only opened at the very end of that month:

Otherwise, there are trains from Naples to Sorrento (Google for Circumvesuviana), and from there SITA buses to Positano: timetable (same message re when to check) towards the very end of the page here:
http://www.sitasudtrasporti.it/index.html#
Other public transport options exist, but those are what people generally use - or hire a driver, from either Naples or Sorrento.
OK?

Oh, when are this site's other facilities going to be working again? Please consider the opening sentence of my last message, which is blatantly wrong, as being corrected to....
"I really really doubt there'll be ferries of any sort operating either from Naples or from Sorrento to the AC during most of April."
Sorry!
Peter
