Safari Tanzania March 2013
Hi,
after finishing a Mt Kilimanjaro climb I want start a 5 days / 4 nights group camping Safari in the parks of the Nothern Circuit on March 3, 2013. My tour operator for the Kilimanjaro trekking (www.africanscenicsafaris.com) so far has no other prospective safari clients for the time period mentioned. Therefore I want to use this forum to look for other travellers interested to join me. I would like to cover Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Conservation area and Tarangire or Lake Manyara National Park. My tour operator said that the prize will be about 850 USD per person if the vehicle is filled with 5-6 people. I'm a male traveller from Germany, age 51.
I' looking foward to find interested companions for an enjoyable safari!

Visa D'entente in Cotonou!
Hello fellow west Africa travelers!
I am currently in Benin, looking to travel to Burkina Faso and Togo. I've read about the Visa D'entente. Does anyone know more about this, and can tell me which embassy in Cotonou can give me one? Any other tips about traveling around here would be great, or visa information.
Cheers!
Manon

Simien Mountains Trekking - Trip Report
SIMIEN REPORT
I thought I'd do a trip report in the hope it can be helpful to others trying to plan their Simien mountains trek
I travelled in October and there were four tourists plus all the staff – guide, scout, cook, cook's assistant (not on our payroll), 2 mule guys (2 mules), extra guy to carry excess 15kg baggage.
Our guide, Teshager, was great and really added to the enjoyment of the trek. He's been guiding for many years but is still so enthusiastic and has a great love of the mountains to go along with his interest in and knowledge of all the birds, animals and plants. I highly recommend him. At the moment he doesn't have a website (but will soon) but his contact details are:
name: Teshager Berihun
email: tesh05_2006@yahoo.com
mobile: +251 91873 1621
He can organise your entire trek for you, all the staff, food, route etc. He does treks from a couple ...

Zanzibar - Last minute accommodation for Christmas/NY
Hi
there seem to be rumours or desperation going on about availability of accommodation in Zanzibar over Christmas/NY- there are still places available, it's just that it takes a bit more finding the smaller places that are not represented on all the booking sites. I've been speaking to hotel managers, and while many popular places are already booked, smaller places are still hoping for guests.
For example, try Jambiani on the South East Coast - has all the features of lovely beach, not built up like Nungwi or Kendwa, close to party scenes in Paje while itself Jambiani has kept the local charm. Try and find places like Garden Bungalows, Dhow Beach Village, Kimte, Baghani Guesthouse, Stonehouse - these are smaller places, but they make up with local charm and are not overpriced.
Also, Stone Town hotels are not booked up yet either - many still have vacancies. Again, if you ...

Looking for climbers for Kilimanjaro - March 2013
Hi,
A friend and I are travelling to Tanzania in March 2013 and have booked to climb Mt Kilimanjaro.
We have booked with Team Kilimanjaro (via www.climbmountkilimanjaro.com) starting 5th March to 11th March via the Machame route (ref HSCIVE).
Anyone interested in climbing Kili around this time let me know as we'd love to have a group enjoying the challenge with us.
We are a male & female, friends in our early 30's, from Australia.
Thanks

Direct bus from Bahir Dar to Lalibela?
I know there are other topics touching this, but those postings could easily be outdated by now.
Does anybody know if there are currently busses or minivans going directly from Bahir Dar to Lalibela?
Many thanks!

Vic Falls (zim) to Botswana
Hi,
I am now in Zim, and I need to get from Vic Falls to Maun. Does anyone know if there is transport from Vic Falls town to the border (Kazungula)? I was told I can take a cab - but that's too expansive, and I don't want to cross the border to Zambia because I don't want to pay the visa again (I've been there a few weeks ago...).
Thank you!

12 day itinerary
Hi All,
I'm putting together an itinerary for two of us from December 23 to Jan 3
Dec 23 - arrive in Casablanca, go straight to Fez
Dec 24 - tour Fez (hire a guide for the medina)
Dec 25 - day trip to Meknes and the Roman ruins in Volubilis.
Dec 26 - take a tour to the desert or those gorges (3 or 4 days is enough?), side note: I guess it would be interesting to ride a camel and sleep in a tent and all that, but is it really worth what seems like an eternity to get there?
And is there a desert/gorge tour that starts from Fez and drops us off in Marrakesh that you can recommend? And what's a reasonable price for something like this?
Dec 29 - arrive in Marrakesh
Dec 30 - tour Marrakesh
Dec 31 - head to a beach area and spend two nights somewhere (or in several places along the coast)
Which beach town would you recommend for a quiet strolls, romantic atmosphere, little has...

Serengeti
Hi Travellers!
I am planning to go to the Great Serengeti beginning of January, I love the wild life.. I would like to photograph animals, during the day, maybe to be lucky and see some action animals hunting for prey, night stalking... see also the wildebeest migration.
I am planning to make 14 days. Any suggestions for a good safari guide ? lodges to stay at?
What do you suggest? To spend the full 14 days in the Serengeti or spend sometime also in Zanzibar?
Thanking you for your help in advance.

A Place I miss alot
Hi All
I though I would write a short post on A Place I miss a lot. After recently moving from Durban in Kwazulu Natal to Pretoria in Gauteng I have not been away on the South Coast of South Africa for a while now, There are a number of places I miss camping a lot and I was wondering if anyone has been to one of them recently who can let know know how it was. I would like to go camp there next year but not going to drive +700km if it is no longer that good.
The place I miss a lot is Rocky bay . I remember Rocky Bay because it is on the beach, you walk out your tent and 3 steps later you on the sand a few meters away from the crashing waves. This is an awesome feeling, sleeping in your tent and the waves sounding as if they will crash onto the tent at any minute is brilliant.I also remember they had a swimming po...
