This summer I'll be visiting Gabon and in between tours I will have about 3 days of free time in Libreville. Apart from the beach I'm looking for some affordable day-trips. Is Akanda National Park a good option? If possible I want to take the boat from Libreville to the river and than try to hire a boat or walk with a guide. Has anyone done this?
I looked the park up on Internet but I can't find any info about tours in the park.
can anyone give me advise on other day-trips around Libreville?
Is it possible to get a visa on arrival from the Netherlands?
And last but not least, is there a guidebook of Gabon (except a small chapter in the LP Africa guide?)
i'm planning to visit gabon in september for a couple of weeks
what do u think about the weather at that time?
thanks in advance
I am planning to fly into Libreville from Seoul, South Korea, and would be interested in knowing if it is possible to get a visa on arrival at Libreville airport. I carry an EU passport (the website of my (Austrian) Foreing Ministry says that it is required to get a visa in advance, but I will not be in Europe anytime soon and I doubt that I can get a Gabon visa in Seoul). Does anyone know?
Thanks in advance.
I am trying to arrange to travel from Libreville to Sette Gama.
Google is not helping me and I would like to have this part of the journey booked before I arrive.
I will land in Libreville Saturday 27th April but I am concerned about transport on Sunday and therefore I am wondering if it would be better to arrive on Friday?
Does anyone have any recommendations please. I am happy to book a "tour" for the transport but I want to organise everything else on thr ground when I get there.
We are a couple, planning to continue overland from Monrovia via Man to Abidjan and
then on to Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria and Cameroon. Public transport according to
availability and securuity situation. Have visas except for Togo and Benin, which we hope to
get at the borders, or entente VTE in Abidjan. Also have visas for Sao Tome (and Cape Verde), plan to fly there from Libreville if we get Gabon visa, otherwise from Douala.
Will try to get visas somewhere along the road for Equatorial Guinea (to visit Bata/mainland, not Bioko or other islands) and Gabon before leaving Cameroon late March.. EU passport.
Info I saw mentioned Eq Guinea embassy addresses in Accra, Lagos, Yaounde and Libreville, consulate in Douala and only a tel no to consulate in Cotonou. Gabon seems to have embassies in Abidjan, Accra, Lome, Abuja, Yaounde and Bata (according

Can anyone tell me what the road and traveling conditions are like between Libreville to Brazzaville?
I am planning to travel from Libreville to Brazzaville with two older ladies in June. I am used to public transport in East Africa and would not think twice about taking a bus or mini-bus from Libreville to Brazzaville myself. My companions, however, are pensioners and while I have seen older people outlast younger ones in difficult traveling conditions I wouldn't want to plan total torture into our itinerary. If it is too hard to do it in one go, would it make sense to break the journey up? Where would be good places to stop?
I need to rent a 4WD (without) driver for 2 or 3 weeks in Gabon. I'm wondering if anyone can make a suggestion. Europe and Hertz have no 4WD's but perhaps there's an independent operator who does?
Does anyone have recent experience of obtaining a Cameroon visa in Libreville, what are the costs and processing time? I have US passport.
Hi Im conming to Gabon for the CAN but having a job finding decent affordable accommodation. Does anyone know of any decent but cheapish hotels in and around Libreville under $100 per night .
I am hoping to finally travel to Gabon in early February 2013....I know, it's far away, but the first step is selecting travel dates. Does anyone know if Loango Lodge ever reopened this fall? Has anyone been to Loango Lodge and Sette Cama? Trying to figure out if they are different or pretty much the same in terms of wildlife and beach.
Also, is Lope Lodge open? Is the reserve worth visiting? Thanks for any input. I appreciate it.
Hello, would anyone have any info on the Crystal Mountain NP a few hours from Libreville? (transportation, accessibillity, guides)
I'd like to do some trekking there (possibly solo) and know that it is famous for it's flowers and mountaineous terrain, but that is it...
Also, If someone has any info or firsthand experience on doing trekkking in Ivindo (Lope) NP, please reply! (how much was it?)
Minkembe seems to be closed because of poaching...can anybody confirm this..

My husband and I are booked to go on an organized tour in 3 weeks time to visit the pyramids etc. We have been reading it isn't safe to travel to Egypt again. Could you please ell us if this is right. Thanks for your info.
Does anyone know where the Gabon embassy in Nigeria is now? It has moved from 8 Norman Williams in Lagos. I am staying in Lagos and need to travel!!
I may have to travel to Franceville in September/October for a short visit. Getting to Libreville by international flights seem straightforward, but I am wondering about modes of transport from Liberville to Franceville.
1. I am aware there is a train. Is it daily? How long is it supposed to take, and how many hours is the trip usually?
2. Plane is the best option but I do not seem to acess the airlines website, or booking on-line is not possible. I cannot find a time-table of flights either. Are there flights everyday to and from Franceville? Does anyone know if it is possible to book on-line with the airline or with a travel agent?
3. It is possible to travel by road? How long is the journey? Is it safe? I am thinking about hiring a car or 4WD with driver. How much approxiamtely would it cost?
Any info would be welcome.
Hi, I cannot decide me, what I do, if go to Gabon or Ghana. Was some one in both this countries and can give me advice?
I'm not the type of backpacker, but very accustomed to travel a lot, not so very comfortable, but like to rent a car if possible, not scared or worried, like to travel and learn about the countries, meet local people, see the scenery and even animals (my favorite animals are lions though they are not where do I know), also like to take a short bath in a nice cove, love palm trees and so on.
But, where to go? If someone can give me a little thread I will be grateful. Thanks!!!
