Tourists allowed Aswan-Abu Simbel bus?
I made a reservation inquiry with an Aswan hotel and they responded with much information including the bus schedule between Aswan and Abu Simbel. Are tourists allowed on these buses?
What's the accommodation scene in Abu Simbel? Still just 2 - the luxury hotel and super budget?
Cheers.

Last minute 1 week holiday in Egypt - help needed!
Hello everyone,
Any advice much appreciated.
We have a last minute (as of yesterday), 1-week, holiday starting this wekeend. Where to go?!
Our needs:
preferably somewhere sunny, temperatures 20C+ if possible
total flying time no more than 6-7 hours so we don't lose a day/night
budget £1,000 each max for flights & accommodation (if possible last minute)
We normally go for hiking/trekking/tenting holidays but we did this on our honeymoon last year for 8 weeks in S America so I don't think I'm going to get away with putting my long suffering wife into a tent again! We're thinking of somewhere either on a beach or in a relaxed environment where we can just flop about and hang out.
Overnight we've come up with a simple week in Sharm or Dahab.
What do you think? We've never done resorts - but surely a nice one would be OK for a week right? And if we try out diving e...

Ten Days....
I have ten days in Egypt over Xmas. It'll be my second trip and I'm planning a bit of a mixed bag of a trip:
Flying into Alex - maybe two sightseeing days and a third day relaxing (spa and swim day??)
Then I'm planning on a drive down to Dahab (probably need to leave the car in Sharm, but anyway...)
I have five days currently booked in Dahab to learn to dive and I'm planning a day chilling in Sharm before leaving (I have an early flight plus the whole dive/fly time thing)
My question is how long can I take doing the drive through Sinai as I'm in no rush.
I'll stop in Rosetta and Port Said but where else is nice to stop along the west coast of Sinai before I get to the southern area?
LP doesn't make Ain Musa, Ras Sudr, etc sound that interesting but I would like to spend a night somewhere on the drive down (not camping)
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Diving Dahab in February
I'm going to Egypt in Feb and am trying to decide how long to stay in Dahab as opposed to Luxor/Aswan. It all depends on the water temp!! Is it OK in Feb? and if so any tips on where/what to dive?

Egypt Trip - advice and recommendations.
Hello everyone.
This is my first time posting here - so Hello!
My name is Bhuwan and I have recently discovered the joys of travelling.
I am planning to visit Egypt from 15th to 26th Dec 2012 and would like some advice on my plan.
1. I will be landing at Sharm Al Sheik - and spend about 4 to 5 days there - plan to do some scuba diving, take in the sights and possibly take a day trip to Jordan (Time and more importantly, money permitting).
(I have looked at several options, but flying to Sharm is the cheapest one at present; I will arrive in Sharm, travel around and reach Cairo and finally depart from Cairo.)
2. From Sharm I intend to travel to Aswan and board a Nile cruise - I understand that there are 3 days cruises that will take me from Aswan to Luxor.
Any idea how much such a cruise would cost.
3. From Luxor, I plan to travel to Cairo where I will stay for about ...

How's Hurgada?
Hi everyone,
I'm planning a December trip to Egypt and one of our stop after Luxor is Hurgada. But I just read two posts saying that it's a horrendous place...Is it really so??
And does anyone know if arriving Aswan in the morning (8:30), there would be enough time to do a daily trip to Abu Simbel and then back? I heard that you have to join the 11am convoy and head back with the 4pm convyo, seems very little time for the site!
Thank you very much!

Aswan hotel recommendation and booking Nile cruise
I'm flying into Aswan in a few weeks at 10:25 pm and would like to prearrange a pick up from my hotel. Are there any midrange (~$20-30/night?) hotels that would include an airport transfer in the price? I looked at a few booking sites and didn't really find anything.
Also, has anyone been in Aswan recently and booked a Nile cruise to Luxor on the spot? I'm assuming that there aren't that many boats with the presumed drop in tourist numbers. Is that actually the case? Will I be waiting a while for a departing boat?
Cheers.
Jon

What Area of Sharm el-Sheikh to Stay???
Hi all,
I'm sure this is a small area of the world, and something I should not worry too much over.... but I was wondering:
**Saying for 4-5 days (diving every day) - not sure what area we should stay in; around Na'ama bay or Sharm almaya?
I'm sure one will be more convenient than the other, cheaper, etc etc. Probably mostly concerned about easily getting food, and less traffic/pollution.
Thanks!!

Tours in Egypt
Hi everyone,
I'm looking to book a fortnight-long (roughly) trip to Egypt for two, next September, taking in the major sites obviously, and we're happy to go off the beaten track too. I was wondering whether anyone has had any particularly positive or negatives experiences, or has any recommendations for the sort of thing we should look for?- or places to avoid! I'm not sure whether I'm allowed to ask for specific companies to be mentioned... But if possible, please do!
I've been on a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan, and also to Abu Simbel and Mount Sinai- but nowhere else in Egypt. And my travel-partner has never been to Egypt at all, so we're really excited about this trip.
Looking forward to any comments! Thanks.

is it safe for a woman to travel single in Egypt?
Hello!
Next year February I want to visit Egypt for a month, starting in Cairo and travel down the Nile, the white desert, trough the Sinai to Jordan. Ik would like to travel alone, but I heard some bad stories about unaccompanied woman travelers in Egypt. The papers in Holland write a lot about it, but I don't exactly know what to believe. As you see I would love to visit Egypt, so what I would like to ask: do you think it's safe to travel alone as a woman?
Thanks in advance for your advice,
Lonneke
