American Express Card in Mozambique

Hi Everyone

I have been getting mixed messages, whether you can use an American Express Travel card in Mozambique or is it better that we use a Visa debit card or credit card and take some US cash with us instead.

Mozambique Visa from Nelspruit

Hi Eveyone

Just trying to work out about getting a Mozambique Visa before jumping on the bus from Nelspruit to Maputo, do you know how long it would take to get the visa, is it a few hours or a days wait or even more, need to know to work out the rest of our trip in Mozambique.

Two weeks in southern Mozambique

Hello guys,

We are currently planning a trip to southern Mozambique. We'll arrive in Jo'burg September 19th and want to be in Lesotho for the Independence Day (October 4th). That leaves us about 14 days to explore Mozambique. We are two people and one baby and will rent a car in SA. Which route could you recommend us? I've explored the coast area up to Tofo before therefore I would enjoy some kind of roundtrip which includes also parts of the inland. Is that actually possible with a normal car or do we neccesserily need a 4x4?
As we have a baby with us we might not be able to travel as fast as we want to. Do you have some ideas for a suitable itinerary? We will bring Camping equipment.

Gorongosa

Hi

We'll be travelling to Mozambique in August and hope to spend a couple of nights in Gorongosa. We'll be travelling on public transport and will have camping gear so we hope to camp at Chitengo. Can anyone help with the following doubts:

1) How easy is it to get to Chitengo by public transport and how would this be done?
2) How easy is it to find a camping spot once there and is it necessary to book in advance (if so, how far in advance and how can this be done)?

4 x 4 hire in Cuamba

Hello there, Im in the early stages of planning a month long trip around northern Mozambique in July with family (children 12 and 15) does anybody know if it is possible to hire a 4 x 4 in Cuamba and drop it off in Pemba, If so, who are the best companies to hire from? Also, I would really appreciate any other advice or tips that anybody might have on self drive trips in the country. Many thanks in advance.

Has anyone done business with this company: Mozambique Accommodation Solutions http://www.mozambiqueaccom.com ?

They seem to offer quite competitive rates on hotels in Maputo but there is no physical address on the website itself. I checked Alexa, it says the website has been around for at least 8 years.

Can I trust them?

Mozambique work visa for New Zealander and Australian partner

Hi,

I am an Australia - grew up in Zimbabwe but moved to Australia and my partner is originally from New Zealand but living in Australia.
We have been looking at going over to Mozambique for quite some time maybe to volunteer as part of it and then this opportunity arose, My dads friend works in Mozambique (he heard we were wanting to come over) and he has a friend who is in need of a plumber.. My partner is a qualified plumber here in Australia and it would be a great experience to be able to do some plumbing in Mozambique - a real culture change! What is the process of getting a work visa in Mozambique and is it a long process? How would I go about getting a visa - would I just go for the extendable tourist visa or a spouse visa? Nordin's Lodge in Tofo

We stayed at Nordin's the begining of March, everything was great. On our last day we had money stolen out of our room with the door locked and we supposedly had the only key. Has anyone else had a similar experience.

Mozambique in March/April? Alone ore with a tour?

Can anyone tell me how bad the weather is in March/April in Mozambique?
Because everywhere you read that may-september is the best period but how bad is it/can it be in March/April?

Do you recommend to go with an organised tour? Ore just by myself?
I am girl travelling alone..
I will come from South Africa and go back to South Africa again after my trip to Mozambique.
But Not sure yet if I will do it by myself with public transport (dont have an license) ore with an overland tour..

Every advice is welcome!

Visas upon arrival - BUS?

Hi,
Myself (Australian national) and a friend (Dutch national) are travelling from Johannesburg to Maputo by bus (we hope!) in April. However, I'm having some difficulty with visas; the Mozambique Honorary Consul in Australia has advised me that I can buy a visa on the border; yet, the bus company (Intercape) have said that all travel documents must be in order prior to departure. When I told them I had asked the consulate, they told me to ask them to issue me with a visa. We will be in J-burg for three days prior, but it's over the Easter long weekend..

Any ideas?
