Visas for Djibouti, are they available at land borders? (I suspect not.)
I have heard that the embassy in Addis (where we'd probably get ours) is now charging $145. Anyone know if that is true or not? Do they require letter of introduction as well?
Australian and Japanese passports.
visa are n ot given at the airport ....
I am planning a short visit (less than 1 week) to Djibouti.
Can Australian passport holders obtain a visa on arrival at the Djibouti airport?
If so, what are the details?
I am visiting Ethiopia in February and I am considering going to Djibouti in order to see the Lacs. Is anyone able to recommend a tour agency or a guide that I could use? Additionally, it would be helpful to know how much I should expect to pay.
will be soon (27.11) in Djibouti and stay in hotel horseed
looking for people for tours to Lac assal and abbe
will be around 10 days stay in Djibouti
so hope to find some people
I've scoured the web, but unlike Ethiopia, it doesn't appear as if there are any independent guides in the country -- or at least none with a presence on the web. All excursions seem to originate with large tour groups that are prohibitively expensive and/or poorly reviewed.
Is there any means by which a solo traveler can connect with an independent guide who can provide expertise and transport to place like Lac Assal, Lac Abbe, or the islands? Someone reliable who can meet you at 8a for a day trek at a reasonable price?
Can anyone recommend cheap accommodation in Djibouti Ville, please?
Many thanks for any tips!
Is it possible to arrive at the Bay of Ghoubbet (November) on your own and hire a local fisherman to take me snorkeling with whale sharks?
If so what village is recommended for this? Is there public transportation from Djibouti City to this place?
I was wondering if anyone has updated info on getting a Djibouti visa in Addis Abeba. Apart from paperwork, photos and money (by the way, is it 145 USD now?!), is an outbound air ticket and a hotel reservation also required? I'll be entering from Somaliland and exiting to Ethiopia by land and only have an air ticket from Addis Abeba afterwards.
Many thanks for any help and advise!
We are heading to Djibouti over Eid for a 4 day vacation from Dubai. Any suggestions on what to do or where to stay? We are more interested in seeing the greener and less deserty parts of Djibouti and we were hoping for some outdoor adventures and any experiences that will be a change of pace from Dubai. Thanks for any suggestions and tips you might have.
I plan to make a road trip from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia via djibouti - Yemen- Saudi. However, I will be glad if there are ferry services from Djibouti to yemen, and what there procedures are.
1. Do I need to book ahead?
2. how often do they go?
3. How long does it take?
I will welcome other info on this trip even outside my questions.
Many many thanks in advance.
I am a British citizen and flying into Djibouti city in October from London (via Addis). I am only planning to stay three days, and have a flight booked back to Addis at the end of that time.
Please could anyone let me know if it is possible to get a single entry tourist visa on arrival at the airport?
The FCO website says yes, the French Consulate in London says no...
Thank you very much
I'm hoping to snorkel with whale sharks in Djibouti this November. I've read that this is a good time of the year to see them, and it's something I've always wanted to do. However, as someone who was on a boat that sank with loss of life, I'm a bit nervous about being on the water.
I'd be interested to hear people's experience of doing this. Was the boat stable and safe, is the water reasonably calm and not too rough, are you close to land or out on open water?
I will be travelling to Djibouti in the middle or end of February. I have read on here that the season is October-January. If I go in February, obviously there will be less whale sharks. However, is there a chance I'll totally be disappointed and not see any in February? Thanks.
So...does anyone know if the tours to the lacs run through the summer (I'll be there in August)? Emails to a few of the tour companies have gone unanswered...
(Any tour company recommendations would also be appreciated!)
