Altitude issues
Dear all,
We are a small group of friends who are planning to ascend to Toubkal in early June (guided hike).
In detail, we plan to depart from Marrakesh by car ealry morning and start our ascent from Imlil (1780m). This first day, we plan to walk from Imlil all the way to Refuge Nelter which is located at 3200m altitude.
The next day we plan to go up and down Toubkal (4167m) with an overnight again at Nelter (3200m), before we continue our hike the next day towards lake Ifni (2300m).
I am writing to ask you whether this plan will allow us to adjust to the altitude - especially the first day when we will (drive and) walk from Marrakesh (460m) all the way to Ref. Nelter (3200m). Has any of you faced problems associated with the altitude and if so, how did you act in such a case?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Kind regards,
Vasiliki

Tangiers
Is Tangiers still an interesting place to spend a month or two and smoke hash and drink mint tea? I'm curious what the attraction is or if there still is any attraction to the place that there was 50 - 60 years ago.
Is it still as seedy as it was described decades ago or has it cleaned up and modernized quite a bit?

Turner's Peninsula Sierra Leone
Hi there - I read something interesting about Turner's Peninsula. The info was suggesting it might be possible - and certainly cool - to get onto this spit of land and walk south for a few days/week enjoying the flora and fauna. In theory you could walk an unrestricted stretch of beach for a hundred kilometers to the Liberia border.
I've had a look at it on the maps and it looks completely empty, with no villages or settlements and no roads of any kind.
Has anyone been there? Would something like that even be possible? Any idea what's there?

Punctuality of Tanzanian flights
Hi,
I was wondering how reliable flights are within Tanzania? I've heard of very slow/late trains and I was wondering if it can be the same for flights, or do they tend to always be on time (more or less)? I'm flying with precision air if that makes any difference.
Thank you,
Greg

My boyfriend and I are heading to Egypt May 25th! we'll have a week in Egypt. I was thinking of doing Cairo and Luxor. My question is due to the extreme heat is it worth not going to Luxor and heading to the Red Sea instead to do some snorkeling? Anyone have any thoughts? We're on a budget and would love some input.

Sierra Leone visa in Dakar
Having just waited 18 days for my passport to return from Washington and with only 3 weeks left before I leave, I don't want to risk sending my passport out again. I arrive in Dakar early morning on a Friday and leave on Saturday. Is it possible to get a visa from the Sierra Leone embassy there on the same day?
Thanks,
Kendrick
