Me and my wife are planning two day stop over and stay in any one from Gansbaai or Paternoster or Greyton.
After natural beauty of Stellenbosch/Franschhoek we would like to have beauty combined with Ocean and something difefrent.
All three looks fantastic - kindly share your practical experience, if possible.
Thanks in advance!

Travelling to South Africa very soon and am so excited! My partner and I have a whole month to explore! We are hiring a car for the month and have our route fairly well planned apart for one section of it and would love to get some advice from those in the know...does anybody have any suggestions for places to stop for a night or two enroute from kruger to durban? I know it's quite a long distance so need to break the journey up but want to stop somewhere worthwhile along the way as opposed to just having a pit stop!
Also wondering if it is easy enough to find my way around the various towns/cities along the coast from Durban to Cape Town? Hoping to hire a sat nav so I shouldn't get too lost! Do most hostels/guesthouses have parking available or would it be mostly on street parking?
Thanks in advance for your help!
To all tourists travel Tanzania!!
I was try to make a simple research about why most of tourist whose come Tanzania will be overcharged? And for now I have answer of my question which was made me thinking much,.
The main problems is the commissions which the peoples who bring the clients to offices was gate by the offices owner,so will made the officers to add some more money in the real price in order to have the money to give him.
Who course this?
The main course of this problem is TAXI DRIVERS who take peoples from Airport to Bus terminal, Airport to harbour,Bus terminal to harbour,And every where to Hotels And place of tourist information,.
HOW TO AVOID THIS?
First of all Be carefully with the Taxi Divers when take you to any place of services,DO NOT ACCEPT THE OFFICES WHERE HE TRY TO DIRECT YOU,Tell him you can go yourself and tell him to wait you in the car,Or... more »

I’m off to Madagascar leaving in late August and staying for seven and a bit weeks. This will be my fifth visit there and I would welcome any general comments and some specific advice. My main purpose in going is to complete research for a book and to take more photographs.
I’m off the North first with a 4x4 and driver. I intend to go by Antsohihy and onto Bealanana and Mangindrano from which I trekked through the forest to the summit of Maromokotro last year. So questions:
Is there anything I could take the people who trekked with me last year and without whom I would not have got back? I am taking prints. I gave them money last year.
Is there anywhere to stay for the night on the road from Tana to Maevatanana? I ask as I want to spend time with the gold panners on the way.
Any recommendations for where to stay in Antsohihy?
Can anyone tell be anything about the m... more »
Hi, I´m going to Malawi and Zambia in August and I would like to get some experiences of anyone or to know the best places to go and the best way to do the trip, I make a budget trip. Thanks
It will be my first time to Africa and my friends and I are planning an ambitious trip from Cairo to Johannesburg in August. I've read a few threads concerning mobile phones and drinking water, but not many seem to encompass my concerns, so I thought I'd readdress them here and hopefully someone will be kind enough to take the time to answer. For reference, here's a list of the countries I'm visiting (I will mostly be in big cities):
Should I look into getting a water filter bottle or purification tablets or will bottled water be available and accessible in the above countries? If bottled water is available, will it be expensive on a backpacker's budget? Should I trust water given at restaurants or hostels?
Mobile Phones- Can I acquire a phone upon arrival in Egypt... more »
Has anyone heard from Temehu lately? I was in contact with them about a month ago in regards to a tourist visa, but I haven't heard back from them. Are they still in business?
I am an Australian and will need visas for Tanzania & Kenya.
I know it's possible to get visas on arrival. But I do want to organise them before leaving Australia to avoid any delays at the airport.
Anyone done this, and did you have any issues sending your passport in the post...don't trust our post system entirely, even with platinum express post.
I'm in the early stages of composing an itinerary for our trip to South Africa in October and want to get a vague idea of which places we have time for prior to getting into the details of the itinerary.
We have 21 days to get to Cape Town by car from Kruger (Lower Sabie) and want to avoid Durban if possible. We also wish to visit Lesotho but this is less important than avoiding Durban. Don't mind going through Swaziland but prefer Lesotho.
Like most people we want to take the Garden Route on our way to CT.
Is this achievable without taking any domestic flights or spending ridiculously long hours behind the wheel?
I got the following information in a previous post. (Thanks Tim !)
Cook and muleteer will be one and the same and normally costs 200dh/day. Guide normally around 300dh, accommodation around 150 for the two of you.
Does it involve hours and hours of bargaining ? :-)
What about food ? If we pay for instance 200dh/day for a muleteer, does he pay for his own food ?
We understand that the prices are not fixed and if you want an official guide, there is only one place. So no real competition.
By the way we're thinking of going to Morocco in the second half of may 2013. My girlfriend and I are considering a 10-12 days trek.
Thanks in advance

I am lucky enough to visit Zanzibar in a few months and need some advice. The plan, so far, is to have 3 nights in Stone Town, 4 nights in Kendwa or Nungwi and a final night in Stone Town again as I have a very early flight out of the airport. My questions are about the Kendwa/Nungwi portion of the trip. I chose these areas as I've read they are the backpacker areas and, since I'm traveling solo, I want places where its easy to meet people and hang out. I've checked many websites but they are all rather generic; pics of the beach, the bungalow and a platter of food. Are there places you would say have character?
Here are some other questions;
1. Which is preferable for nightlife / social scene? Do people in Kendwa go out in Nungwi and vice versa?
2. Should I plan on eating and drinking at the hotel or are there bars and restaurants around?
3. Is AC really needed? I ima... more »
I am considering heading to Madagascar in the second half of December into early January. I realize that this is the beginning of the rainy season, and cyclone season in the east, but having never been there I am wondering if this means it will be a bit miserable or is nothing really to worry about. I will be traveling solo, and using public transport, and likely some flights, to get around. Looking to visit the national parks and beaches all over the island, but not sure what is realistic at this time of year. It is hard to grasp the travel requirements of this huge island. I have ordered a travel guide, but find personal recommendations from this forum better sources!
I have seen a great amount of useful information on this forum, so am hoping for great advice on traveling to Madagascar in December and January. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
