Hi all

Want to travel overland to Nairobi from Ethiopia and want to know if it's possible basically!? if so how easy is it, is there nice paved roads to the Nairobi and one can take a direct bus? or is it some 5 day slog through the bush? sorry if the whole thing sounds naive, never travelled east africa before. Any advice and or help would go a long way, cheers

working sabbatical in SA & WiFi

I plan on spending a couple of months in SA next year partly traveling and partly working on a project that requires me to have reliable internet access for about 15 hours a week. I'll be bringing a laptop.

I know it's relatively easy to get WiFi access in large cities like Cape Town but what about smaller places like St. Lucia? Do most towns have self catering accommodations that offer ASDL or WiFi? What about WiFi access in internet cafes or libraries?

Appreciate any advice or tips anyone has to offer!

Looking for travel company Brazzaville-Douala feb 2010

Hi all!

Im a swedish nature enthusiast enjoying the more complex african roads. Coming february/march (2010) I plan a trip from Brazzaville to Douala via Ouesso. The cameroonian part of the journey seems straightforward enough, but for the congolese part I would be very interested in finding a fellow traveller to team up with. My plan is to fly into Brazzaville by the middle of february. From there I plan to either travel east by boat along the Congo river and then onto the Sangha up towards Ouesso and the Cameroonian border, or head north from Brazzaville by road towards Ouesso. I would very much prefer the boatride, but it all depends on availability and timing. Of course I plan to visit various interesting places, not least Ndoki Nouabale NP in northern Congo, along the way. Anyone interested? Adventures guaranteed...

I would also be very happy to gain any information avail... more »

Flights to Casablanca (CMN) from West Africa

I've been looking at flights from Cotonou, Benin (COO) to Mohammed V airport in Casablanca (CMN), and they are really expensive -- in the neighborhood of US$1800. Flights from other West African cities (Ouagadougou, Bamako, Lagos, etc.) are not much cheaper (Kayak.com is showing me nothing but prices from US$1400 and up). Royal Air Maroc seems to be just ridiculously expensive.

I will want to get from Cotonou to Casablanca (or somewhere else in Morocco would be OK as well) sometime in late January 2011. As my travel plans will be quite flexible, I'm perfectly willing to take buses and/or flights to some other place in West Africa in order to get to Morocco, if it'll be cheaper; I just can't believe that a four-and-a-half-hour flight should cost US$1800.

Any suggestions? How would you get from Benin to Morocco without spending a fortune?

Accommodation In Jan

We are spending 3 weeks in and around Cape Town & the Garden Route as far as Port Elizabeth & back, late Jan/ early Feb. My query is whether we'll need to book accommodation in advance - we have 4 nights in CT booked, then we pick up a car. I'd rather book but my husband wants the freedom of picking places once we're there, and taking a chance. Any advice welcomed

Pemba to Likoma Islands & Nkhata Bay.

Hi Guys,

I fly to Pemba at the end of December where I plan to spend a few days with the possibility of trip to the Archipelagos Quissanga, is this worth a visit as I will also visit Illa Mocambique later in the trip?

From Pemba I plan to head inland to Lichinga and then on to Cobue so I can cross over to the Likoma Islands & Nkhata Bay in Malawi. I have a copy of the LP Mozambique but it's over 2 years old now so some of the info may well be out of date. It mentions that it takes about 3 days in a well equipped 4 wheel drive from Montepuez to Lichinga? Does anyone have any experience of this? How much does this cost & where can this be organized? Also, can I arrange transport in Pemba, if so where can I do this?

I am a budget traveller and travelling rough is fine!!

Thanks for any info in advance!!

Drive time and stop offs Windhoek to Audi Camp Okavango Delta

It's looking like it's a 12 hour drive from Windhoek to the Okavango Delta Camp, so can anyone advise if this is correct and if so some good places to stop off en route?

Also are there many petrol stations and ATM's en route?

Cheers

Negative travel advice Cote d'Ivoire?

Dear all,

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country I live in (The Netherlands) is currently holding a negative travel advice for Cote d'Ivoire because of an unstable political situation and high tensions. I was planning on doing an internship in Abidjan in February and March but University is not very keen on sending students out to countries with a negative travel advice.

Could anyone please provide me with on the ground info? Thanks in advance,

Alies

WATER and WEATHER

Hi,

we are planning to visit Egypt in February or March. It´s gonna be our first trip to this country and we like to know how´s the WEATHER like in February and March and the other thing we are interested in is the quality of WATER - we heard a lot of people visiting Egypt suffered from diarrhoea and some our friends even ended in hospital. So is the local water really so bad and tourists should buy only bottled water? And what about food? And one more thing - in case we get sick what kind of medicament is the most effective? :)

Thanks in advance for all of your answers!
