The Samoa Tsunami: Photos and a personal account.
I was in American Samoa on Ofu Island when the Tsunami hit. It was one of the most humbling and terrifying things I've ever witnessed. Fortunately, Ofu received minimal damage. Four days after the disaster we were able to make our way over to Lalomanu beach in Independent Samoa where we had stayed previously. The destruction was overwhelming. The survivor stories even more so. Here are photographs from Lalomanu Beach and the stories of some of the survivors. http://www.michaelandersongallery.com/gallery.php?gallery=samoatsunami
To help the survivors, you can go directly to the websites of the families involved: http://www.samoabeachfales.com/ or http://tinadesuza.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html more »

Besides wonderful Moroccan food, the odd cold beer, 0 km cycling days, cruising around the walled medina, thinking about plans for the European (and last) leg of the WT-Expedition, I'm enjoying superfast internet here in Essaouira on central Morrocco's Atlantic coast, and thus, I've made some new photo albums for you (and me too).
As always, I recommend you click the 4-arrow icon in the lower right hand corner of the album itself, to view the photos full-screen, with the text box activated. Choice is yours.

Hello all
This probably has been asked a thousand times but my search function is not working properly (i think!).
I want to create a website that is mainly to be used to show my photos. I have a blog for many years but my html is not that great! There are also too many sites that offer personal websites which means i have no clue as to what i should do/ which ones are ok/ which ones are great.
Any info would be great!
Thank you!

20 years ago, the Berlin wall was opened and a million people crossed in one weekend.
A few pictures I took at the time: Opening of the Berlin wall.
Quite annoyingly, I have since lost the camera that I took the pictures with, a soviet-built Zorki that my grandfather brought when he fled from eastern Germany in 1956. The Zorki is a purely mechanical camera that does not use batteries.

Also pictures of Sumba people and traditional villages Christianity lies only lightly on top of the Traditional belife system where the ancestors loom large in day to day life, Inhabiting the tall section of the clan house roof they are aware of every move the people make and will make things difficult if displeased with there family, Pigs jaws and buffalo horns are from the extensive buirial sacrifices and the huge tombs are usually right there in the village with the people. What control to have your whole dead family as well as the living ones standing in judgment on your every mo...

Would you please comment ONE picture for me?
I explain myself.
In the last five years, I have been travelling intensely. The more I travelled and the longer I was on the road, the smaller Belgium became. My world got bigger but smaller as well: it is hard to tell what I experienced along my journey. Coming home is the hardest part of travelling.
This photo-project is born because I want to do something with what I saw. After a long trip in Latin America I collected anecdotes and stories and published a book. This time, I am doing something different: I present a picture and use the reaction of the public. It is an interactive effort to build a bridge between the two worlds that came into existence: life in Belgium and life in a new culture. The world from a home-based Belgian versus that of a nomad. It is an effort ‘to arrive at home with experiences from the neighbours’. To...
