My Dad works as an engineer on different ships around the world, and in November he was lucky enough to be upon the Aurora Australis, as It traveled down to Antarctica to (amongst other things) deliver supplies for the crew and people working down there.
He took both still photos, and some (Hi Def!) video, which I've compiled into a blog post here:
http://darcyjohnperkins.com/my-dad-went-to-antarctica/
And on my flickr account here:

What do you guys think? It wasn't exactly what I expected antarctica to look like, but at the same time it was. Whilst it was beautiful, watching the same thing (floating ice) for an hour got pretty boring, so the penguins (called "Pengies" by the people at antarctica, apparently) were a nice change in theme.
Just thought I'd share =]

This is a set from a trip I took to Vietnam where I stayed with my friend and his family in their house in a Saigon neighborhood. Staying with locals allowed me to get a perspective I wouldn't ordinarily get to do. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jarenhorsley/sets/72157620142219853/

Please have a look at some photos of artisans working in the Kutch area of Gujarat.
I had a wonderful time visiting these very talented people. Each was very friendly and hospitable and loved talking to us.
I've just returned from Laos where I spent six days on the Nam Ou, going upriver from Luang Prabang to Phongsali by slow longtail boat and back the same way. My photos are at http://www.pbase.com/cathryn/namou. Feel free to have a look if you're interested.
