Hello - Im not sure where to post this but I thought this might be a good place
I'v just returned from Bulgaria where I spent a fantastic week in & around Vidin - I will be going back again very soon and want to spend some time on the river Danube canoeing as far as I can ultimately I want to travel for a week or 2 at a time in a canadian canoe taking provisions/tent etc with me for overnight camping. What Im really after it some kind of detailed river maps for the Danube a bit like the OS maps we have in the UK - I have searched for hours online but cant find anything. if anyone has any idea where I might buy maps like this I would be eternally grateful.
There must be some kind of place to buy detailed river maps showing shiping lanes, shallow spots & stuff like riverbanks and whether they are marshy, sandy, forested etc etc - lol sorry if Im being vague but I know what I ...

Welcome to sailing the farm-coop "Project Sailing to Middle Kingdom"
Im building me a 12 meter double ender pilot cutter in
clinker/lapstrake welded 5081 Aluminium alloy with 8 mm (0.312") in
hull and 6mm (0.25") in deck. The design is from a very famous
designer.
The boat will be built and equipped for sailing in all regions. The
project is based on shared cost, ie those who contribute in
construction will get priority when choosing crew.
There will be 6 bunks onboard and I will try to have 6 people on most
of the legs. Plan is to have equal opportunity for both
male/females.

hey everyone
I, from the Australia, since september 2008 we're on a slow overland trip from our hometown to India.
In mid, or late of January we would like to cross by ship/yaught from Thailand to India, or otherwise Sri Lanka.
Does anyone have suggestions/ideas about possibilities to do this?
I would be very ok with working/volunteering during the trip, like cleaning, helping with cooking, etc..
bye! and thanks!

I am planning a trip round Australia and will be starting in Sydney then moving on to Tasmania. I would prefer to use a ferry but it seems that ferry service has ended the sydney-tasmania route a couple years ago. Now I have to go from sydney to Melbourne to Tasmania t use the ferry. Can anyone confirm this is correct?
Do you know of any other way to get there by boat? I would also consider crewing a sailboat for the journey, but I prefer something I know will be there for me. Like a ferry service.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
My name is Nadine and I am from Canada, yet have been living here in Ecuador going on 2 years now. I came down to participate in a few volunteer projects, fell in love with the country, the people, the ocean and decided to stay.
I've been living in a small beach town called Canoa.. on the pacific coast of Ecuador.. where I've learned how to surf, speak Spanish, interact with the local people & culture, and much more.
If you are passionate for the ocean and the water, and haven't tried Surfing, you will be absolutely amazed once you begin catching waves at the adrenaline & excitement that overcomes you when you connect with natural beauty of the ocean.
Surfing is more than just a sport.. it is a connection with nature, with the mystical world under the sea which gives you a new appreciation of life, and fills you with a new sense of peace and joy which you may not hav...

Hi,
Does anyone have info on sailing as (amateur) crew on a Tall Ship?
I'd like to sail from the US east coast to Europe some times in July/August 2010.
If someone would like to travel by Cargo/Container ship, have look at www.freightercruises.com.

Hi all. My boyfriend and I (English/German, 28/35 yr old) live on a v. homely 39ft sailing yacht. We're looking for some easygoing and adventurous people to join us for anything from 2 days to 2 weeks from Sardinia to the Balaerics/mainland spain...between NOW and November. No sailing experience necessary, just an open mind to adventure. If you're interested drop me a line and let me know. If you want to see photos/vids of the boat and boatlife to see if you think you'd fit in with us and what we do, please go to www.svberlinexpress.de. No catch, just sharing costs of fuel, food, etc and having a great time. It's averaging at about 35 euros per person per night including food and drink (not alcohol)...think of it as a roadtrip but on the sea :)
I'm not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but several of the large Cruise ships migrate yearly back and forth between Europe and the Americas. It's fall now, so the ships are migrating westbound. These trips are often less than full, so you can find tremendous deals. It's not unusual to find deals below $400 per person for a 14 day cruise including board (30pp/day), making this competitive with flying. Typically, they'll visit a half dozen or so ports in Europe, then take the better part of a week to make it across the Atlantic.
Of course, a "cruise" may not be everyone's idea of the best way to spend a couple of weeks. However, when viewed as an alternative and far more fuel efficient form of transportation, it can make a certain amount of sense. It also is a cheap way to be pampered if you've been staying in some less-than-ideal budget hostels/hotels.
You can pr...
