Bangkok - hire a taxi (1 day tour)

Hi !

I'm thinking of hiring a taxi, for 1 day
(ca. 7 AM - 3 PM, to visit Mae Klong Market & Tha Kha Floating Market)

Any idea of how much (more or less) will it cost?
Any name/company you can suggest me?

(ps: I found www.thailandtraveltours.com ..they wrote around 2'500 THB...bur for me maybe a little too much...)

Thanks :-)

Ranong to Kanchanaburi

Hi there,

We'll be travelling from Ranong to Kanchanaburi next month and I was looking for suggestions on a route. So far I was thinking:

1) Direct bus if there is one?
2) bus to Chumpon then train
3) bus to Hua Hin then bus or train

Does anyone recommend a stopover anywhere?

Cheers

Best place to engage girlfriend :)

Hi Everybody

I am totally new here and also in Thailand too. I would like to visit Thailand for two weeks with my girlfriend.
Also the goal is to engage her. :-)

Our plan is the following

  • 4 days in Bangkok
  • South Thailand

We would also like to visit a friend in Phuket for 4-5 days.

After these I would like to engage her on a beautiful beach, that takes her breath away. :-)

Could you suggest me some places, where I can give my girlfriend the best moments in her life? :-) Also it would be good, if I can get some information how to get there. :-)

Thanks for your help,

Marton

Snorkeling Krabi may-june

Hello Fellow Travellers,
I am thinking about going to Krabi end may, begin June 2012. Of course, nobody can predict the weather right now, but I am a little worried. I love snorkelling and would like to take 2 or 3 day trips to islands during my 7 days of holiday. Will this be possible, or will the sea be too rough during that time?

Cheers

Diving Similan wth Thailand-Scuba company any good? $620 for 4 nights okay?

Hello,
I am looking to book a dive trip to the Similans. I believe the boat was A8 for 4 nights.

http://www.thailand-scuba.com/similans-liveaboards-diving-A8.htm

Does this look like a good trip that catches most of the spots?
The price was around $620 inclusive.
It is still a lot more expensive than what everyone else was telling me was a reasonable price for diving the Similians (often quoted by friends saying they paid $500 for 5 nights...which I thought was steep for SE Asia, but that was a few years ago and it seems that it has gone up a lot since then).
Can anyone let me know if this is a good price or should I wait till I show up in Phuket and shop around?

Thanks,
Micah

Phone charger and sim card in Bangkok

I'm bringing an older siemens a 50 to Thailand with me, but I lost the charger cord. So I need to replace that and get a local sim card. Anybody have recommendations on where to get both? Alternatively, if I can't replace the charger, I'd like to buy a new (cheap) one to use there. Where would I go to buy a cell phone? Thanks.

Thai Massage course

I am a massage therapist looking to take a Thai massage course when I visit in April. I have searched high and low and can't seem to find somewhere to learn this other than a long, 5 day course. A 2-3 day course would be perfect for me. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Help me choose an island for my next trip

Me and the Mrs really enjoyed Krabi. It was a nice mix of being able to do some island hopping and relax at some bars. I don’t have any problem going back there but im wondering if there is much left to do? I have seen phi phi and hong islands. Didn’t get time to do the 4 island tour but I suppose can do that next time.

I’d like something similar nearby where there are a few bars to relax but also close to some islands for snorkelling ect...

Was thinking maybe Koh Ngai or Koh Muk. Spending wise id like it to be no more expensive than on Krabi. Do either of the 2 previous mentioned islands fit the category or is there somewhere else I should look at or should I just do Krabi again and see some other islands?

Regards,

Is it possible to have a wedding at Ayutthaya?

My fiance and I will be getting married in the Bangkok area in September. We will be staying at the Lebua with our guests and want to stay within an hour and a half or so of the city. Right now we are trying to decide on a venue for the actual wedding and/or for photographs.

Does anyone know if Ayutthaya is available for ceremonies? It will be a very small group - 15 at max. I love the idea of the ruins as a backdrop. If not, is there a wat in the area of Ayutthaya that could be used instead so we could still have some photos made there? Are wats ever used for weddings? I realize most Thai weddings take place in the home or a hotel, but I am interested in less conventional venues.

Finally, are the ruins large enough for a group of 15 to enter if it rains - do any of them have roofs in place? I have looked at a number of websites and forum posts regarding Ayutthaya but I haven't ... more »
