My spouse and I are flying to Bangkok at the end of the year for 6 days. As this is not the first time we are going to Bangkok, we’d like to check out the smaller towns and some of the attractions that we missed in Bangkok. We are more interested in museums, temples, culture, night markets, atmospheric old streets, animals etc. We are not really interested in trekking or hiking or strenuous outdoor activities like river rafting. Here’s the itinerary. Suggestions and constructive advice would be most welcome.
On the first day (Friday), we arrive at Don Muang airport around 6pm. We will take a taxi to our hotel (Imm Fusion Sukhumvit) near On Nut BTS. Probably we’ll just check the night market opposite for a little shopping and dinner.
On the 2nd day (Saturday), we will take the train to Lopburi (we missed this last time) to check the attractions near the train station (the temples, Ki... more »
We're looking to go to Phuket for 2 weeks in October and are looking for info on kid friendly beaches. We have 2 kids under 3 (2.5yrs & 11mnths) , so we want to avoid beaches that drop off steeply or that are rough. I mention October as this is towards the end of the wet season, which may affect the suitableness of the beach.
From experience, we were in Kata in December, it was relatively flat with calm seas.
So a shallow beach which will allow us to splash around in with the kids is ideal. Does anyone have any advice on beaches that would be suitable?
Are there any other areas, other than Phuket that would be more suitable? Another factor for using Phuket as a family vacation location, is the fact there is a good hospital near by, should one of the kids get sick, so any other location would need good medical facilities nearby.
Any advice is appreciated. more »

In an effort to fully experience another culture, my wife and I have decided to spend most of 2014 in Southeast Asia (mainly in Thailand, but not without the experience of neighboring countries). The goal of this trip is to integrate ourselves into this new culture while illustrating our experience through writing and photography on a dedicated website we plan to launch shortly before our arrival.
We see this as our opportunity to commence the travel writing and photography career we have been discussing throughout recent years. We plan to rent out our condo as a source of income, and are looking into teaching English as a second language.
With the understanding that it takes a full year or so to build a successful website and develop a career in photography/writing, our work in Thailand will be the initial focus of our website. Our intent is to not only illustrate the scenery ... more »

Hey Ya'll! I'm traveling to Bangkok in two weeks with my mom. We are going to be staying in Hua Hin for 2 nights before traveling around the rest of Thailand. Does anyone know the best way to get to Hua Hin from the airport? We were told to get a taxi, but then I heard that there are specific ones to get so you don't get overcharged. Any tips would be great! Thanks!
I am looking for best price options for return flights, either direct or via Vietnam from 7 September. Any suggestions appreciated. (Ambleside).
Would someone who is in Railay describe the weather of today ?
What is the Weather in Railay Today ?

I will be in Thailand/Myanmar in August and got some questions regarding the Myanmar visa.
Since I will arrive in Bangkok, I will apply for a visa there. However, since I do not intend on staying in Bangkok for more than a night (been there...), I would like to apply for the visa, travel to Chaing Mai and around for 10 days and then pick it up after I return.
Here's my question: When you apply for the visa, do you have to pick it up on a specific day? Or could I simply apply for it on the 31st of July and then pick it up on the 9th or 10th of August?
This would save me the hassle (and money) of getting an express visa as well as an extra day in Myanmar.
If this is not possible, can I apply for an express visa on a Friday if my flight is on a Monday? Or will they say: well only if its within 48 hours. Not sure if they mean 48 business day hours or 48 hours in general... more »

Im living on Koh Samui for a few months and my partner and I would love to do some yoga close to home (not a retreat, just sessions). We are

I am arriving in Chiang Mai on approx 23rd July 2012 for approx 10 days and i am interested in getting involved in some sports, namely football, squash and running or cycling and also a gym too. I don't know Chiang Mai that well but know there is a main backpackers area, close to some old city type walls i believe? And thats where i will be staying.
If anyone is there and wants to do any of these sports, or knows the area and can tell me where i can do any of them i would appreciate it.
I am going to Thailand in February and was wondering what the best way of organizing it was. I want to at least visit bangkok and phuket.
I will be flying into bangkok.
1. How long should I stay at each place for.
2. After visiting Phuket, should I fly back to the US right from there or back to Bangkok and then to the US?
3. What other places should I visit, for how long, and how far/best way to get there?
Thanks in advance
Also I think I will be staying in hostels unless someone has better recommendations.
