Hello TT's!
We will be on the island for one day as part of a cruise that we were given!
We dock in Castries but for our day we want to snorkel from Anse Chastanet (marine park) and visit Soufrieres. Obviously time is a constraint and the ship does offer 'tours' but they're not offering snorkelling here. Usually as backpackers we have no issue independently getting ourselves around but can anyone offer advice/suggestion as to what we want?
How much would taxi's cost for these 2 places? Is the bus reliable? - we would hate to miss the ship! Does anyone know of a tour company that includes these two? Or any other suggestions?
Thanks much in advance :)

Can anyone advise where I might be able to get one of these - and quickly!
There are out of stock on Amazon so I placed an order with Waterstones who sent an email back saying they are out of stock?!? At least Amazon had the courtesy of keeping a good stock list on their website and didn't allow me to order via them!
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Does anyone know if you have to declare a minor criminal record when travelling from the UK to St Lucia?

Just wondering what your experiences have been on the island in that week.
We're leaving tickets until we arrive and hope we won't be shut out. Any locals aware of parties that happen in conjunction with the festival? Is it worth it to see Amy Winehouse and KC and the Sunshine Band instead of attending the Jump-Up on Friday night?? Amy has a reputation for being late so I'm afraid we'll miss our chance to "party with the people" in Rodney Bay.

A few years ago my wife & I arrived in Castries, St. Lucia via a cruise ship at 8am. We took a taxi to the base of Gros Piton, climbed to the top and arrived back at the cruise ship at 3pm. This November we are going to be visiting St. Lucia again via a cruise ship. This time we want to climb Petit Piton. Before we arrive we would like to have some arrangements made so that the excursion can go as smoothly as possible. Does anyone know a tour operator on the island that could supply us with roundtrip transportation from Castries & a guide for the climb? Any help / tips would be appreciated.

Thinking about renting a car in St. Lucia for the main purpose of convenience and saving time, since we will only be there 5 days and don't want to spend too much time waiting for buses.
I estimate $25 for the permit and $55+ per day for the car itself. My question is: book ahead online or rent at airport when we arrive?

Going to St. Lucia Mar 12-17. Based in the Rodney Bay area and planning on taking public buses everywhere.
1. Besides the Piton hikes, which are some of the "must" hikes on the island (strenuous OK, treacherous, not)
2. What are some of the "must" places for splendid birdwatching and for other wildlife? Will it be turtle season by then?
3. What are some of the "must" destination beaches to languish the day away?
Thank you :)

Hi, does anybody know if there is any ferry service between St. Lucia and St. Vincent or is flying (pretty expensive though) the only way to get there?
Thanks.

Off to St Lucia next week and need to get some currency. Does anyone know if we can but their local currency here in the UK or can we only get it there? Or can we spend US$ there as everything seems to be advertised in US$. Can we easily change sterling there?
Thanks
