We've been fortunate to travel quite a lot with our children. Here are my tips for less stressful, more successful family travel.

We'll be heading off to VN at the end of this March with our 17 month old son, and would like to take a side trip into Thailand for 4-5 days. I know that this is going to be a hot time of year, will it just be too much to be in Bangkok? We're thinking about spending a couple of days in Bangkok and a couple of days in Chiang Mai (it'll be easier for us to get around since we're going to leave the bulk of our luggage with friends in Hanoi). Should these places be fine with a toddler? We'd just do our sightseeing in the morning and then spend the afternoon relaxing, and we're going to put the little man in a backpack while we're out and about. Is it doable to take him there? Or are we just insane?
We're attending a wedding in Manila in November and would like to spend 5 or 6 nights relaxing before flying back to Oz. We are looking to stay in a nice resort with a pool and kids club. Thinking about Boracay / Cebu or maybe Kuala Lumpur or Singapore as a stop-over on the way home.
Can anyone recommend anywhere that might suit? We like to scuba-dive so somewhere with good diving would be a bonus.
Hello,
I am hoping to go on holiday with my 2 year old son during the summer, He is very energetic and loves activities and playing with other children, I am from Ireland and I would like to travel some where warm that has a good selection of activities to do!! I don't have too much cash so I am on a medium budget.. Any ideas would be grately welcomed!!! Thanks.

Do you love kid's books for travel like we do? What have been your faves?
We've been on an open ended, non-stop world tour since 2006 when our child was 5 and LOVE how much books have added to our journey. They were also great in preparing her for our round the world trip...a new concept to a 5 year old. Ya gotta check out Barbar & kids go around the world! ;)
Any one else love this kind of education that prepares young ones for travel, makes it richer & helps keep it alive for a lifetime?
This is an example on how we did this in Venice

Hello All!
I'm taking my 5yr old to Thailand this month and I can't decide which beaches to visit, any suggestions? Any islands that cannot be missed? We'd prefer some places off the regular tourist trail but not too terribly difficult to get to with a kid. We're flying into Bangkok, where should we fly to in order to get to the best beaches?
Thanks in advance!

Hi there
we're planning a 2 week holiday with our two kids - 2 and 5 years old. We'll be travelling in October (9th) for 2 weeks as it's the first time we're restricted to school holiday times. We'll be flying from Glasgow or Edinburgh probably.
We've found with our two that the comfort of being in a single hotel is better than backpacking around, and that the kids love having a pool/the beach. We'll probably look at 4 or 5 star.
However we'd like a mix of feet up (ha! well as much as you get to do that with the little ones) on the beach and also some culture. I've developed a love of photography so another reason for desiring interest and culture. We'd love to choose somewhere to go that is still hot enough for beach/pool at this time, but also interesting for daytrips.
We've looked at Sharm in Egypt but not anywhere near the pyramids, they're too far away for a day tri...

Hi all,
I just wanted to give a little wave **hello!** and introduce myself as I'm about to become this forum's greatest stalker! :)
I'm Becki, and my partner Matt and I are taking the first tentative steps towards fulfilling our mutual dream to travel- with our gorgeous little man in tow! Our son is currently 18months and we are looking to leave at the end of summer 2011, by which time he will be close to 3 years old. We've taken the huge step of moving in with my father-in-law (to be..) to save as many pennies as we can scrape together and we're just beginning to allow ourselves to actually get excited and believe we can do this!
Unfortunately I am green as can be, as despite many family holidays and trips abroad, I have never 'travelled' in the traditional sense of the word.. and the furthest we have taken our son is to see my Nana, a 6 hour drive away.
I'm just look...

We have a 3 year old and a 2 year old and are planning a getaway somewhere warm, beachy and beautiful to escape the Aussie winter.
We'd like to go somewhere not-too-touristy but with sufficient facilities should something happen to one of the kids. So far friends have recommended Fiji and Bali.
An option seems to be Castaway or Plantation Resorts in Fiji, as these both have kids clubs. The only problem here is that you seem to be pretty much locked into the resort, which isn't really our style of travel. We generally like to explore the area and culture. But the kids clubs are a BIG DRAW!
For the culture reason, though, we're drawn towards Bali. Has anyone had any experience renting a villa and hiring a nanny for the stay? We're hoping not to spend more than AU$200 a night on accommodation and need 2BR.
So many questions! If anyone can offer ANY direction it'd be ...

We're travelling with our 19 month old daughter, we've been many times in thailand but never with our
daughter. We prefer to stay in Samui in Chaweng centre because we only stay there for 2 days and we don't want to drive around with a motorbike with her. We would like to stay somewhere where it's not too noisy.
Our budget is 1000-2000 baht a day.
We would like to stay in Bangkok near MBK centre, our budget is also 1000-2000 baht a day.
Thanks in advance
Wendy

One trip to Trailfinders in the snow, one phonecall and a vast sum of money later and we are the proud owners of five round-the-world tickets.
We leave London on 1st November on a Virgin flight arriving in LA about 11 hours later. I checked they had seat back TVs.
We have bought an 'Escapade' round the world ticket which uses Virgin, Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand. We've bought a separate ticket from LA to Hawaii as that route isn't covered by these airlines. It's on United, an airline I'm not keen on. Last time I flew with them the seat was broken and I was made to sit in the smoking section. On a thirteen hour flight. Owen from Trailfinders assures me they've improved.
After Hawaii, we fly to Auckland, then into Sydney and out of Perth in Western Australia, to Singapore, then Tokyo and finally back to London at the end of July 2011. We'll fill in the middle bits our...
