Are you on the road, or even at home, and looking for something to do?
I am a digital media master student and am currently directing an interactive art project looking at distributing information and data. As part of this project I am asking people all round the world to print off a single black and white A4 image and take a photo of this image posted in a public space. It doesn't matter where so long as other people can see it. The more remote and obtuse your current location, the better! The quality of the image also isn't too critical so don't worry... ! You will be fully credited (if you would like) and the resulting video will be exhibited in some galleries in North Germany and maybe more ;)

Could some one recommend one brand of portable power charger to me?
I searched on Amazon for large-capacity battery charger with portable size and found the following:
SCUD EBT-02 (10400mAh) External Battery Backup Charger, with the USB wire to discharge/recharge from USB port of computer and wall charger etc.. I like its large capacity and portability. The reviews look good. Is it a good option for my long travel plan to US--Canada--UK--India--Nepal--US? Thanks!
Can anyone tell me how to find out who supplys the gas and electric to a house we let out? There are so many off them! and it would take an age to phone them all.
Thanx in advance
I bought a Canon G12 in May 2011. It has served me well but has now broken. The zoom is stuck. It will cost me about £100 to get fixed. The camera cost £400. I would have thought that it would last longer before breaking down. So now questions:
Would you more experienced camera people expect this camera to break down in this way?
How usual is it for cameras to break down in general and is there any source of information on reliability?
My specific concern is that I take my camera when I travel and don't want to have to do a ten day trek again because the camera had broken down.
I have taken a spare camera a Canon A480, very cheap, and not what I want to use for my main photography. What do other people do?
Would welcome and advice please.
The internet, it seems to me now, is a mixed blessing, through which so many aspects of our lives are, ever increasingly, no longer private.
I hate, for example, being pestered (through recurring post-purchase ads) by a business I've bought something from, online. It's like walking down the street and having a shopkeeper shout to me "Hey you, I recognise you. Come into my shop and buy something else!"
Also, about every two to three minutes, while using my email account, I get a pop-up along the bottom of the screen, "Do you want to open or save get-user-id.js. In case I haven't noticed it, it soon starts to pulsate bright yellow and can't easily be closed or cancelled. It's like someone banging on my door all day and refusing to go away.
I'm sort of aware that such things can be blocked-but don't know how to do that- but also sort of aware that blocking can give rise to unwan... more »
I've just run CCleaner but dont know what to do after its finished. It says Analysis Complete and has files to be removed. How do I do that?
Thanks if you can tell me really simple.
I was exerting how you back up photos whilst travelling? I have a camera and iPad and was thinking of getting an adapter that allows me to backup photos to the iPad, then back them up to a cloud (icloud or dropbox etc.). Would you say this is a good option? And if so, what cloud service would you recommend (preferably with as much free space as poss!) and would you take an iPad travelling?
Hey Gals and Guys
I just recently bought a Sony RX100M2 for my travels to India in 10 days.
To me this is quite expensive for a compact camera and NOT weather sealed.
So I am just wondering as a lot of people on here take much higher quality gear with them on the road. As to how you look after it through dust, rain, soaring temperatures, sweaty dirty hands touching it, storing it etc.
This is my baby and I really want to look after so just after some tried and tested tips :).
I currently have a contract (UK) but I am going to asia for 3 weeks and oz for a year and I will be needing a sim card (preferably PAYG) that will allow me to cheaply text and call (and hopefully use internet) back home and also use the phone for the same country im in. Whats the best you have used/seen? Thank you :)
I'm thinking of buying a new (2013) Nexus 7 32gb when I head over to L.A./Vegas next month. In the UK they've only just been released, I was wondering if the big chains over there have reduced their prices yet? Any links to stores that I can check out online?
I'm not overly worried about not having UK warranty as (hopefully) I'll be spending the majority of the next 12 months outside of the UK.
Has anyone know of the large camera stores in Europe like London,Paris,Rome,Amsterdam, and Munich? Hope for your replies.
I have an old black MacBook which has my entire iTunes library on it and is linked to my iPod Classic, it also has a substantial iPhoto library.
Specs: -2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, running OS X 10.6.8
I have been away over seas for the past 2 years (with a new MBA :)) I have now returned and would like to update software, load new music, sync with my iPod, download photos etc.
When I attempt any of the above I am informed that the Start Up Disk is Full and I need to clear some space!
How do I go about doing this without jeopardizing my Music and Photo libraries?
Ideally, I'd like to keep the old MB for iTunes and photos....I have a whole heap of new CD's here that I want to load on iTines and sync with the iPod before heading away again.
I can't download new software or use a cloud facility either..running OS 10.6.8!
Can anyone help me out with... more »
I am wondering if anyone out there has any tips, tricks, or experiences they would share regarding camera gear "security" while travelling in Vietnam, or SEA for that matter.
Aside from the usual common sense behaviours of not looking like a target, and not walking around with gear hanging out, keeping your wits about you, etc...any other thoughts on what to do, what not to do? I have done the usual reading. However, would love any insight anyone else might have from personal experience.
Many thanks in advance,
I have travelled with my Iphone in the past but it was always locked so I could never use it as a phone. Now that it I unlocked I was wondering if It is possible to use it throughout SEasia and New Zealand with which ever countries SIM card? I believe it is the original Iphone 4 and I thought Iphones use different SIM cards so I am not sure.
I've been dragging my feet for quite some time now but feel that I'm ready to buy my very first dslr camera. To those, like me, who love their photography but haven't got a bottomless pit of money, what do you have and what are your opinions of it/them?
It's not an issue what currency you bought it with, I can work out the price locally. I'd just like makes, models, fors and againsts. Thanks.
