Taiwan cycling on fold ups

Hello!
We plan to purchase fold up bikes in Taiwan and cycle the island for a month. We know what we want and need to find a shop which has a large range of fold up bikes to choose from. Anyone know a place in Taipei that would fit? Any other hints on cycling Taiwan on fold ups would be appreciated.
thanks.

good cycling gear in Udon Thani/Loei - Thailand

hi everyone!

i am cycling around north thailand in Nong Khai area now and need to get new good pannier bags - i have cheap shitty ones and i really need some good Ortlieb bags... i know there is a good bicycle shop in Udon Thani but i don't know if they have such kind of bags and not only basic stuff - so if someone knows / maybe knows how to contact this shop i would be very happy.

i also heard there is a bicycle shop in Loei that might have such bags so if someone knows anything about that or if this shop actually exist and how do i get to it in Loei that would also be very usefull.

thanks very much!

Alon

cycling northern spain or northern france?

Hello, I am starting to think about a cycling holiday in the summer, and the plan so far is cycling and camping for 2 weeks along the coast in either northern spain or northern france, and I wonldered if anyone has any thoughts as to which country might make for a better trip. I am looking for somewhere not too hilly (is northern spain very hilly?), with decent roads for cycling on, easy navigation and nice places to camp. Any suggestions welcome
thanks

London gathering

When I was planning to cycle round the world there was so much that I did not know. I was really thankful when a veteran long distance cyclist agreed to meet me in a pub one evening and answer my questions.

I thought that it may be helpful, now that I have done a few trips (www.roundtheworldbybike.com), to arrange an evening in a pub when I can try to help other people who are planning their own expedition.

So, if you think I can help you with anything you may be planning then do come along!
I will be on the top floor of the Iron Duke pub in Victoria station, London at 6.30pm on Tuesday March 9th until about 9pm.

If you have done an expedition, long journey or anything similar yourself then perhaps you would like to come along as well to share your own knowledge with people? It would be fantastic to gather together a few seasoned travellers as well as a few people getting re... more »

Pangong Tso and the Nubra Valley

Hey

Has anyone cycled from Leh to Pangong Tso then over the Wari La into the Nubra Valley??
Finding it difficult to find information, such as distances, road conditions, pass's etc

Also riding to Tso Moriri and Tso Kar. Plan to begin in Leh again making it to Tso Moriri via Puga over the Namshang La, then to Tso Kar over Polo Gongka rejoining the Manali - Leh highway, the problem is is there anyway to make this a loop trip back to Leh without cycling on the Leh - Manali highway?? Otherwise Id miss out on cycling over the Taglang La on my way to Spiti & Kinnaur Valleys

Thanks

Mountain Biking in Andalucia, Spain

Hi,

I really want to go on a mountain biking trip this summer - I've done quite a lot of biking before, mainly in Wales, but nothing longer than a 3 day trip. I've signed up to Vida Loca travel - http://www.vidalocatravel.co.uk as I don't have anyone to go with... the deals there for biking in Andalucia look really good. The thing is, they are at high altitude (some over 3,000 metres), and I don't know how this will affect me...

Does anyone have any experience of mountain biking at this altitude? I've been fine skiing, but that's a little less intense...

Thanks!

Jenny

Looking for a touring bike (Europe/US)

Hello bikers,

I am currently no more than a recreational biker, but plan to change that in a big way this upcoming autumn with a bike trip across the USA. I'll just have returned from the world travels that I'm currently half-way through, and without the desire to settle down I'm planning this next adventure.

However, I have no touring bike or gear...as of yet. That's where you come in! Perhaps you're planning a bike tour for this summer, will have a bunch of gear that would otherwise just sit around until NEXT summer, and you'd like to lend (or rent) it to me? Or, you were a biker, and for whatever reason no longer are, and would like to rid yourself of some old gear? Whatever the reason, whatever the story, if you've got something to help me out I'd be grateful!

I'm willing to pick up a bike anywhere in western Europe in June/July/August, or anywhere in the US anytime (frie... more »

Cycling during wet season North Vietnam - Laos.

Hello!
I'm planning a bike trip in North Vietnam - North Laos in June or July ((60 days) I know that is not the best period for traveling but this is the only time have.
Tentative route: Hanoi >> Sapa >> Luang Parabang

Could you please say if it would be reasonable to travel in that area in the summer?
I'm quite afraid to be stuck at one place because of roads washed by rains or terrible heat.

Any tips on on good a good route would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Joeli

Obtaining an Indian Visa

Hi all,

My issue is that I want to cycle 5-6 months around the south of India. But
I will also need 3-4 months to cycle there (starting Europe)

What I have dredged from the internet so far (please tell me if I am wrong)

1. You can only get a tourist visa for 6 months (need 12 if I get it from home Country)

2. It is wise to get the visa done in your own Country of residence

3. Yes you can get the visa in (Lahore) but be prepared to wait a month!!

Any supportive ideas, tips would be appreciated.

All the best
