Hey ppl !
I'm planning to take a short holiday in crete and santorini (7 days total - 4 in santorini)
should i book in advance a seat in a ferry from Herkalion to Santorini and return (planning to stay there for extactly four days in mid september)
or can i just buy a ticket on the spot ?
it's just for me - one passenger, no vehicles..
I am planning a visit to Italy this year, mainly to the Tuscany region (Florence, Siena, Lucca), including Parma and Milan from Oct 2 – Oct 20.
Would appreciate if anyone could let me know if there are any major festivals going on in these cities during this period. Thank you.
I'm planning a 30-day trip to Spain and Portugal, and would sincerely like your comments on the itinerary as follows:
4. Barcelona (take the night ferry)
6. Palma (take the night ferry again)
13. Segovia (Should I go back to Madrid first, or to Toledo directly?)
17. San Sebastián
22. Santiago de Compostela
23. Santiago de Compostela
Is there any town that you recommend staying longer or shorter? Please kindly share. Thank you! more »
I am looking for gift ideas for my fiancée’s grandparents in Holland.
I am traveling from the US and want to get them something fairly unique.
I was thinking either some sort of food/candy that they don't have or a book specific to the area I am from.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

On my first solo trip to Italy, I am wondering about including Cinque Terre? I would like to spend some time by the sea. Is this the best place? I arrive Pisa for 14 day stay that will surely include Florence and Assist. I am trying to decide on the remainder of my trip. Suggestions?
Quick question -
I'm going to Athens for a few weeks this summer, and it seems much cheaper to fly to Corfu than direct to Athens. But how easy is it to get from Corfu to Athens? What's the best way? I've been looking at ferry schedules and they seem pretty erratic (lots of 5am/1am starts, and companies with suspended services). Is it practical to just show up in Corfu in the afternoon and book onto the next bus/ferry leaving?
Or would it work out cheaper just to fly direct to Athens?
We (my husband and I) are traveling through Europe in December and will be in Venice from the 22nd - 24th. We are looking for reasonably priced accommodation - between 50 - 80 Euros a night? We have looked at various places to stay, however because we don't know the area, we have no idea where a good place to stay would be. We would love some suggestions from people who have been there and know the area.

I understand why it was removed (a spammer who posted a query and then forgot to change handles while responding with a recommendation) but i think LP should have let it stand. The various 'reviews' from other posters here were brutal- i doubt that person will ever try to spam again... letting it stand wold serve as a good lesson- most likely OP would be begging the mods to remove it...
I'm planning to drive around the lake plains of northern Brandenburg and Mecklenburg, maybe ending up on the Baltic Sea, in August. My concern is that the offer of accomodation consists either of campsites and youth group hostels or conventional hotels and motels. But are there any backpacker hostel-style places in the region? Or any other accomodation where you would go as a not-too-old, independent traveller and where you could meet like-minded people? I'll have a car, so access to these places is not an issue.
I appreciate any hints and recommendations for social and lively places in the region!
And if somebody is around there in mid August and fancies a drink or some sightseeing or activities, just drop me a line :-)
Does anyone not recommend bike riding in Corsica at the end of October/beginning of November. I'd like to spend almost a week on the north and/or west side of the island, however, many of the hotels seem to be out of service after the end of September. I'm wondering whether going to Corsica at the end of October is at all a good idea.
The initial plan is to ride a ferry from Nice to the north city Bastia, bike to Ajaccio in four days and return to Nice via a different ferry.
Does that sound reasonable and fun?
In a separate vein or subject if any LP members will be participating in the Nice-Cannes Marathon on 4 November and would like to correspond about it send me a private message. I've lined up my accommodation for that segment of my trip and I'll be volunteering packet pick-up the day before the race.
Hi guys, I know you guys get this a lot, but please advice me on my trip to Europe this summer. Most of the city to city travel will be by flights. Trains will be taken for the closer cities. Please let me know if I'm spending too little/too much time in some of the places I'm staying at. Thanks a bunch!

Hi, we would like to plan a 10-12 day trip to France; fly in to Paris, drive to Normandy and tour the WWII sites, back to Paris and take the train to Chamonix to hike and tour the alps. Any travel tips would be appreciated.
I want to buy a cheap SIM card for my phone. Is there a store where I can do this in the Frankfurt airport? What are the stores names where I could get one? About how much do they cost? (for SIM card and per minute)
I now feel zoo stupid but i was tricked into believing that i had gotten a job from someone i met and we arrived at the bar with the knowledge that i had to provide a copy of my italian passport 2 photos and 150 euro for the rent. These documents were needed to show i could work but as he said he would be back in 10 minutes i waited outside the bar and he never returned. What should i do now as i still have my original italian passport? Really freaking out because Im in need of a job urgently and if i have to get another passport its gnu take a few weeks
I’m searching for reliable shuttle bus company on Mallorca (I need to get from the airport to Alcudia) – could you advise me any? Do you have any experience with those companies mentioned below?:
Thanks in advance for your help! more »
