Planning a 10-day trip (including transport) to Andalucia in March. Would love your opinions on a good itinerary. We are coming from NYC so I think we may have to fly into Malaga (seems much more expensive to fly into Granada).
I was there about 10 years ago, flew into Malaga &stayed in Seville for a few weeks and did some little trips out from there: Granada, Cordoba, Jerez; a few days driving around some white towns (Arcos de la Frontera, Zahara de la Sierra, Ronda). This time the hubby's coming along and he's never been. I would like to show him Granada, but other than that would like to do some driving to the small villages and walking/hiking in the country. Nothing too hardcore in the hiking, and not too mountainous (we're escaping the brutal NE US winter). The coastal area Costa de la Luz looks interesting, Grazelema sounds good--but I'm just thumbing through a 10-yr-ol... more »
Hi, LP users.
I arrived in Catalonia last night, with my bank card snapped (perfect timing) with limited cash on my person, and got a single hostel room for €25. I didn't bother to renew it for another night, as I had planned to meet a friend who lives in the city tonight, and I fly tomorrow so a quick nap on the couch would have sufficed.
He's AWOL, and now the hostel (Parisien) is full. Which is the best choice around the Ramblas area?
Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone, I have just booked an easyjet flight with car hire to Malaga in early May. I was a bit impulsive and just booked for 4 full days - i wish i had gone for 7 now but too late. Anyway, i will be travelling with my wife who is Japanese and has never been to Spain before. We are looking to see as much as possible in the time that we have. I was last in Andalucia in 1985 and stayed for 2 months in Jimena de la fronterra and have really good memories of the area. Can anybody recomend an itinery for us? We will be travelling on a budget and my focus will be on showing my wife as much as posible of this beautifull country. We are not interested in beaches and bucket and spade tourism. we would like to see some culture and beautifull buildings / landmarks etc. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks in advance James
Is Andalusia the best place to find good walking trails in Spain? I want to do lots of walking and wildlife photography.
I have 30 days in Spain as a solo traveller arriving in Madrid on 29th Feb and departing Madrid 28th March. This is a working holiday so I need to set aside time every day to work online and therefore prefer to have a minimum of 3/4 days in any one location, however day trips are fine if I have a stable 'base'. My rough plan:
Madrid (6 days)
Train to Cordoba (4 days)
Train to Seville (6 days)
Train to Granada (5 days)
Train/Fly?? to Barcelona (5 days)
Train to Madrid (1 day)
I fear I may have the time in Andalusia incorrectly weighted, so looking for suggestions. My interests are architecture, cultural sights, nature, horse riding, independent travel and a little bit of nightlife. Dislikes are tourist traps, drunken british louts etc
I'm also trying to work out whether apartments or hotels will be a better idea on a budget of around $75EUR a night. I... more »
I will be in barcelona (fly in) and then will be going to Mardid (where i fly out of) for 10 days.

2) What is a good way to go from Barcelona to madrid? (Train, Bus, Flight, Scenic wise, all suggestions welcomed).

Hiya. I've just had a letter from Spain - and I'm struggling with just one word.
Can someone please give me the English tranlsation for the word 'Juzgado'.
I know it's gonna be sommat official - but can't grab it.
Is it possibly along the lines of summons, court, legal, proceedings or similar?....
Hi Forum -
My best friend and I are headed to Spain at the end of May for the first time and are trying to figure out a few things:
1) How many days should we realistically be there if we want to hit Barcelona, Madrid, and Ibiza (I care about Barcelona most and only want to stay in Ibiza for one day to party)?
2) What's the best way to travel between cities? AVE? Plan?
3) Looking for recommendations for lodging. Want places that are nice but not super expensive.
I've looked through some of the other threads but any other insights would be especially appreciated.
Hi there, Does anyone know if the Australian ANZ cash card for travel is ok to use in Spain & Portugal ? I have also looked at Mastercard cash passport but saw somewhere that some places in Spain only take Visa ? Thanks people.

I will visit Andalusia with my fiancee for 8 D 7 N during 10-17 Feb 2012.
We arrive to Seville airport at 9 am (10th Feb) and depart 9 am (17th Feb) from the same airport. We are mid 30s and looking for immerse ourselves into culture, food and nature in this region (my fiancee loves easy trekking - we were at Cinque terre/italy, Jeju island/south korea and Mt Etna/Sicily Italy). We will rent a car from Seville airport and return to the same spot.
This is our plan,
10th Feb - visit Seville city (Cathedral and Alcazar) then drive to Cordoba (via a road along the Guadalquivir river - Cantillana and Almodovar del Rio). Yes we prefer more scenic route :)
11th Feb - visit Cordoba (Mezquita) and the city the drive to Granada
12th Feb - Granada (city)
13th Feb - Granada (Sierra Nevada)
14th Feb - visit Motril and Nerja then drive to Ronda
15th Feb - Ronda and ... more »
I have tickets for myself and wife to see Barcelona play Getafe in April of this year - cannot wait. Just had a few questions in advance that i'm hoping a Barca fan or experience person can answer?
1. How far in advance do fans normally gather for a game. The game is an evening kick off, so if its 8pm then what time would you recommend getting there? Does it take time to get into the stadium?
2. What is the best tube stop to get there?
3. Any good bars people can recommend after the game?
4. What can you take in with you? Food or water? Camera? Bags?
Many thanks in advance.
Going to Spain for four weeks in March, I have booked my train tickets already.Should I book the bus tickets before I go or will I be able to get what every I want then and there.
My wife and I are planning to go to Andalusia in mid March on a retirement trip for two weeks. We will rent a car. We are concerned about a steady diet of museums and palaces in the three big cities and wanted to see/ experience a different part of Spanish life. Thought of a half day cooking class, visiting smaller towns like Ronda, natural parks, etc.
