Europe - Western Europe

I've put together a rough itinery for our trip. I'm hoping someone could review and make suggestions. I'm travelling with my hubby and a 2-year old from Australia.
I'm particularly interested in ideas of placesto visit for "part 2 - french countryside". And also whether my car hire strategy is economical cause I was concerned that they are one way rentals. What is a good website to visit to find out about car hire in Europe?
1. Paris: 5 nights (no car)
2. French countryside touring in car: 5 nights (hire car for 5 days - pick up Paris drop off Como near Milan)
3. Lake Como Italy: 6 nights (no car)
4. Dolomites touring in car (hire car for 5 days - pick up Como drop off Ljubljana)
5. Ljubljana in Slovenia: 5 nights (no car)
6. Drive from Ljubljana to Venice (hire car for 1 day - pickup Ljubljana drop off Venice)
7. Venice: 2 nights (no car) more »
We are planning a trip to Italy in May. We plan to stay in Lake Como area for 5 or so nights and I noticed that the Giro de Italia (Italian cycling race) will be passing thru the area whilst we plan to be there. I do love cycling but I was worried that there might be a huge influx of people in the area as a result of the cyclingand that might spoil the experience. Can anyone offer advise?
Me and my fiance is thinking for our honeymoon in Spain in May 2012 after getting married in April in India.
Can anyone let us know what all places to visit in Spain and make our honeymoon memorable.
Thanks in advance :)
I am from a place where there are no trains which is part of the reason I plan to travel (all day) from Cologne to Chamonix by train (as well as some other journeys). I can book most of the way in advance on-line with DB Bahn but can't seem to do the last bit to Chamonix. Does anyone know the price of the Martigny - Chamonix train ticket?
3. The DB Bahn schedule provides only 4 minutes transfer time at Martigny, assume I have a ticket booked - is this enough time to get the next train to Vallorcine?
4. This may seem a strange question, but what time does the sun set in Chamonix mid-March? I would prefer not to travel all day and end up doing the last bit to Chamonix in the dark and miss the views!
5. Lastly, is there any significant difference in sights from th... more »
I'm going to the Italian lakes for a wedding in July, where I will stay for a week. I then want to spend a second week somewhere in the North. I was hoping to have a bit longer to do a bit of travelling but as its now only a week I think I'd rather spend that time relaxing and maybe taking in a few sights, if the time allows.
Can anyone suggest somewhere nice to stay for a week?
I am planning to visit Greece with my family in August. We are thinking of spending a week in Skopelos, but I don't know if it is a good idea or perhaps it's better to go to Skiathos.
We have 2 teenager sons and we would like to see nice villages, beaches, landscapes and eat in good tavernas. I suppose both are busy islands but I hope not so busy as Mykonos and Paros, where I spent some days few years ago.
I will be backpacking through Europe for approximately three months starting in mid-March. I'm not sure entirely where I will be visiting (I'm starting out in Spain or Portugal), so I'm trying to find pants that will be appropriate in most countries. I'm trying to pack light, so I want to avoid bringing more than two pairs of pants. I'm trying to figure out what the best combination would be, so can anyone provide a recommendation?
Related to the title, would khaki pants be considered too touristy in Europe, or do people wear them in a lot of countries? (Something similar to http://www.hornytoad.com/mens/pants/dusty-32-pant/h2041004/).
Also, would jeans be a good choice to bring along? My only worry is that I will only be taking two pairs of pants and jeans take a long time to dry.

I've seen some old threads on this topic but nothing recent. I will be in Italy for a month and don't want to rely on wifi can anyone weigh in on sticks or other options that will allow me to use the internet on my laptop all around Italy? Thanks!
Has anyone used the above site for booking flights? Happy or problems? I usually don't book flights from city to city across countries myself. Seems easy enough, just wondering about the reliability of doing so. Any problems with payments, tickets not booked etc.
i'm planning for a backpacking trip to greece with my college friends this late march.
is it a good time to travel to greece?
we are planning to go to Athens for 3 days and Santorini for 3 days. is that a good itinerary?
is it better to take the ferry or plane from athens to santorini?
as 2 of us will be minors, is there an age restriction for the hostels there? any recommendations for good hostels?
what is the best way to tour Athens and Santorini?
any travel advice that may be useful for us? :)
Thank you so much! :)
Myself and two friends are planning to stay in the Lauterbrunnen/Wengen area for 2 or 3 nights and I was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations on a good place to stay while there (at a reasonable price). We are fairly outdoorsy but won't be bringing sleeping bags or tents with us in our backpacks. Could be a hostel, chalet, mountain hut etc but ideally we are looking for something that we don't have to share with other people. Trip is planned for late August.
I'm planning a trip through Belgium that will include Antwerp and the Ardennes. As
the Westmalle brewery is near Antwerp and the Rochefort brewery is in the Ardennes- does either
one make for a nice.outing? Can you reach the Westmalle brewery on public transit from Antwerp?
Thanks so much for sharing what you know----
Can anyone recommend any campsites in Nice, France? We are planning to go third week of May...around 19th for a couple of nights
I've read that the best time to climb Mt. Olympos is from the end of May to the beginning of autumn. Does anyone know whether it is possible to climb it in the early spring - may be around April or the beginning of May?
We are 2 vintage style photographers from the UK who will be over in Paris for a few days (12th - 15th feb) and are looking for a couple who would be willing to do a 'romantic' style photoshoot next to the eiffel tower. For your time you will receive a CD of high resolution images :)
