Hi, guys, I'm from Brazil and I'm going to the north of italy in 14th of december. We are planning to stay a few days, so we know our trip is in a hurry (we have 10 days and I would like to know Ljubljana in Slovenia)
As far as I researched, we would like to know places like Como Lake, Trento, Bolzano and also a nice city in the Dolomites (we are thinking about San Vito di Cadore) and then Venice.
Would be something like this http://goo.gl/maps/2XHLb
We are in doubt of renting a car or going by train. The problem renting a car: more expensive and we don't have experience of driving in the snow. do you think it is a problem? the way to the dolomites is dangerous? The problem going by train is that we cannot see smalles places and of course if we want just to lunch at some place it's more difficult since lugagge is coming with us.
I'm opened for your suggestions. I arrive in... more »
My husband and I are travelling to Austria in second week of December. We have 3 nights and 4 days in total, of which we are spending the first night in Bratislava (we fly into and out of Vienna) and third night in Vienna.
We have one night free in between and wondering which will be a better bet (esp in the winter period) - Graz / Brno / Krems ? Any suggestions? (We really enjoy the Christmas markets!) Any other small towns / villages recommended other than the three i mentioned?
4 of us were planning a 2 week trip around italy in June. Needed some inputs on what our itinerary should look like.
We plan to land in Rome and work our way up north till Milan.
tentative sched is a sfollows:
Rome (4 nights)
Naples (unsure if we should attempt this? - if yes, how many days should we spend)
Florence (3 nights) - will do road trips to pisa on one day
Venice (2 nights)
Milan (2 nights)
We are unsure about Amalfi coast, capri, sorrento, verona? (am i missing out any here) Should we work around our days to include these? Are these worth visiting? can we include any as day trips? I would like to see everything, but since we have only 2 weeks, id rather see a little less but see it properly rather than trying to squeeze in bits of everything.
One more point, since i will be flying by turkish airlines, would it make sense to skip the above mentioned... more »
Does anyone how to get from Hanover HBF to Steinhude, either the town or NP by public transportation? When I lived in Hanover almost two years ago I had my own vehicle so I never paid attention to public transport. I'm looking at breaking up my Berlin to Amsterdam transit for a day or two and really enjoyed myself there. Or does anyone have any other suggestions in a similar area in between the two? The time of year of travel with be around June-July as well.

I would like to have a few names of smaller places where you can get cheaper accommodation as a traveller, preferably in the UK, Germany, or the country in between, such as Netherlands etc. By cheaper, I mean in relations to major cities. I have a small budget for five-week travel so I have to take BnB and hostels. In case I go over my budget before I can take the flight back, I have to find a place that is cheaper and stay there without going anywhere, and maybe just walking around to observe the local lifestyle and write my travelogue. Does this make sense? I am not good at budgeting, so I have to have this as my plan B just in case.
Please avoid major cities because I assume they are more expensive than smaller ones. If there is a small town/city that is not far away from major cities, that would be the best. Also, these places had better to be English-friendly at lea... more »
Hello my names Jade and this is my first post on this site.
So I am currently planning a backpack trip through Europe. I haven't set a budget or even a time length( thinking about 2-3 months) I am just looking up where I want to go and planning out the route I would potentially be going on. So far my plan starts in Spain in the capital city Madrid, then the next city I plan on is Valencia and then to Barcelona. After I visit Spain I was wanting to go to France but just not to sure where to go! obviously I was planning on going to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower but I'm not to sure where I should stop before or after, I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what to see in Paris, or any tips or information to share!
Hi - I'll be in Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Poland for a three week tour with my 16 year old daughter (leaving from home in Vancouver in March next year). I'm borrowing a car from a buddy in Munich, and plan to get around that way. It will be great for getting to out of the way places and for the freedom. I've been to Europe dozens of times, but never in my own vehicle and am wondering how to tackle cities like Vienna, Krakow, Salzburg and Bratislava.
Is it normally better to drive into the city centre and find a place to park, or is it better to park on the outskirts of the city and take transit? I'm very conscious of the mess cars create in old European cities and am very inclined to find hotels outside cities with easy access to transit and just leave the car and come in by train, but I'm not sure what's recommended, and am not sure how easy it is to find hotels in city cent... more »
My boyfriend and I are going to be visiting some friends just southwest of Carcassonne next summer, so we thought we'd go over in our car and take our time getting there and back - we'll have up to 4-5 weeks altogether, and we'll be taking our tent with us. We have a few possible routes in mind, and to an extent we'll be playing it by ear as we go, but we'd also appreciate any recommendations/suggestions for regions that we shouldn't miss. We did a trip across northern France, Luxembourg, Germany & Belgium a few years ago, and we've been to Paris several times, but apart from that I haven't spent much time in France since I was a child so I'd like to get to know it a bit better.
I'll be doing all of the driving and I don't really want to do more than 5 hours or so in one go, so we're thinking about a route down that would have stops somewhere in Alsace-Lorraine, the west of Switze... more »
Me and my husband are Indian nationals.
My husband is in Greece under D Type student visa. He will be posted there for a year till Oct 2014.
I would like to understand if I can apply for a spouse visa which will allow me to stay in Greece for his study duration?
Currently the options that I am being offered is a tourist visa which allows me to stay for 3 months.
Any kind of help or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks and regards,
Read somewhere that most trees mentioned in Old Testament can be seen in Mallorca... where do I find further info about this topic... like where to find the trees in wild...
I am going late April / early May... Alcudia ....what plants and flowers are of particular interest that time of year?
Any good ideas for Kayaking and snorkling (wet suit required late spring I think)
Mallorca is also known for almonds and olives...... are they any cheaper to buy there that in "Europe"?
I returned back to Australia 3 months ago after having stayed in Spain on a student Visa for about 10 months. I now want to return for a holiday (less than 90 days) and I was wondering if anyone knows if this is possible?
I was under the impression that I could not return until I had been out of the EU for 6 months, but I read somewhere that if you were on a student Visa, you can return whenever you want as long as the trip is for less than 90 days. Does anyone know if this is true?
Thanks so much!
Looking into the schengen rules as I begin to plan my backpacking adventure next year, and found this article. I'm wondering whether any of the regulars from this site have stumbled upon it yet, and have any comments/opinions on it;
The article was found from http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/home-affairs/what-we-do/policies/borders-and-visas/border-crossing/
Would love to know what you all think and how this affects everyone! more »
We need to get to Carcassonne from London around January 3 and would like to know our options (and the cheapest way to get there).
Are we better off flying into Toulouse? Taking the Eurostar to Paris then a train to Carcassonne? Flying into another airport from one of London's smaller airports? Other?
Thanks for the help.
Greetings Chaps and Chappettes,
I would like to go on a trip to mainland Europe on a city break, but unfortunately I do not know where to go. Please can you seasoned travellers help my decision?
I was born in London and have lived here all my life. I have however travelled South America for 4 months alone last year and loved every single moment of it! I didn't even feel lonely. I am 26 and I like to base activities around site seeing, taking part in quirky activities, food etc.
To my amazement I have done very little travelling in Europe, hence the idea of a city break.
Its probably worth noting that I'm not really a heavy drinking party person so that won't be on the agenda.
I have no visa issues in Europe as I am a EU citizen.
The Trip and Budget
I wanted to keep in in Europe as flights will be cheap. I will be staying in a hostel which I have no... more »
I am a student in UK Glasgow, I am planning to go to Spain for Christmas, I am yet to apply for visa but the embassy is asking me for previous 3 months bank statement but as i arrived 2 months ago I am not sure what to do about it.
would you suggest me to give 2 months bank statement or get the statement from my country. are they so strict about it?
If i mention in a paper that i arrived 2 months ago and attach my passport copy would that work?
also If i bring statements from my home country should it be on letter head of bank or a black and white print of scan copy will do?
