hello friends, what are the best areas to stay in berlin and munich? with good transport and security and proximity to the tourist tractions
I see that the annual this-or-that Christmas market threads are appearing, and so I am going to add another: If we had to choose between Trier or Cologne, which do you recommend? I have read information about both but would like the opinions of those who have been there. Cheers!
Unsure if this message went out previously. If so, I apologize.
I will be ending a trip to Europe next week. I have one free night (Friday) in Hannover, Germany. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do? I like good weisbier, fun pubs and bars, historical architecture and fun people.
My hotel is near the airport. Are taxis readily available between downtown and the airport area? If so, what is the typical cost? Is there train service between the airport area hotels and downtown and how late does this run on a Friday night?
Also, is English (or Spanish-I'm doubtful) widely spoken in the area? I only know the common greetings in German and I am always polite.
Thank you for your advice.
N00b traveller here. I will be travelling to Germany via Singapore Airlines shortly and landing a few days before Christmas. I would like to take a couple bottles of alcohol in with me as presents.
Everything that I can find seems to be that I can take it in with me as long as it is in my checked baggage (being careful about the bottles breaking of course).
Can anyone confirm if this is true or not? I can handle it being taken at customs but would be more than a little annoyed.
Hi there, we are heading to Rudesheim in Germany next Friday night for the weekend and we are hiring a car so that we can drive to either Stuttgart or Cologne on the Saturday. We aren't too sure whether to go Stuttgart or Cologne, so if anyone has any advice then that would be great. Thank you!
Hey guys! Heading to Berlin 4th-6th December with a friend to the Christmas markets...wondering if any one has tips on the best places to stay, best way to travel around, places to visit, things to do etc! We want to try and fit in as much as we can in the time given.
Would be much appreciated if anyone has any tips! :)
hi Everyone, Im a newby. First trip outta Oz in September to Germany, primaily to experiance Oktoberfest and then tour around for a few weeks. Are there any seasoned Octoberfesters here that can give me a heads up? Cheers
Does anyone how to get from Hanover HBF to Steinhude, either the town or NP by public transportation? When I lived in Hanover almost two years ago I had my own vehicle so I never paid attention to public transport. I'm looking at breaking up my Berlin to Amsterdam transit for a day or two and really enjoyed myself there. Or does anyone have any other suggestions in a similar area in between the two? The time of year of travel with be around June-July as well.

I'm 23 years old Indonesian. I plan to take a trip in Germany only by myself in spring 2014. Do you think it's safe for me or do you think I need a travelling buddy? Oh I speak German quite well, so definitely no issue on communication. Though, I'm a little worried if the people there would be racial because I'm an Asian.
I plan to go to Munich - Mainz - Frankfurt - Cologne - Hamburg - Berlin..2-3 days in each city, any other suggestion for the destination cities?
Looking for an cheap place to stay in Mainz ,on the weekend of 24, 25November. Prefer to stay in the area near the rheinlandgoldhalle in Mainz
Hi!! I will be travelling to Stuttgart and Frankfurt this December.
I would like to know if there are any place that sell luggages.
I want a luggage that is about the standard cabin size.
If possible, I would like to keep the price as low as possible as I will only use it for a one-way trip.
Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks!! :)
So I'm planning on visiting Germany in early December, with Berlin being a staple in my itinerary. I initially wanted to make Dresden my second stop, but was warned by a German friend of skinhead communities around the periphery of the city. As a visible minority, I unfortunately have to take such factors into consideration.
Now I'm debating between Munich and Hamburg as my second destination. Please chime in with your thoughts on either/both cities. I plan on training my way through Germany and then heading to Vienna afterward.
I am wondering if the Iceland Air flights are usually on time when going from Iceland to Frankfurt, DE?
Also how long does it take to get through customs, and get out of the airport? Is two hours enough? I'm thinking of booking a train in advance which leaves about 100 minutes after I arrive.
Thanks so much!
