Entering USA via train from Vancouver Canada

Hello there people,

I am a UK citizen and have been issued a Visa to enter USA for travelling but will be entering via Canada. I'm a bit confused on who will review my visa / passport and grant me access if I'm on a train to Seattle from Vancouver (Canada).

Would I be better entering via foot at a boarder crossing or something?

Confusing lol. Hope you can help. Thanks!

Scott.

Toronto-California and back

Hey all,

My boyfriend and I want to go to California this summer. As we're both under 25, we decided that even though it's a long drive, going from TO-Cali and back in our car will be cheaper in the long run than flying out and renting a car. Plus we can see more places! We're still not 100% on timelines but are thinking 2-3 weeks in August. I know it's the busiest time to go to Cali, but it's the only time off we both have. I've been doing my homework and planning routes, but always like a bit of advice! On the way down, we're thinking Toronto,Chicago, Denver, Grand Canyon, Vegas, San Diego, LA and then up the coast to San Fran. As that will eat up most of our timeline, I'm trying to figure out how to get back without pounding the pavement the entire way. My 1st draft of the trip back included Yosemite, Salt Lake, Yellowstone, Rushmore, and another short stopover in Chicag... more »

we are a family of four on our first trip to usa as a family. My daughters will be 6 and 4 years old.

we would like to tour the east coast over 3 - 4 weeks.

Some of the areas we are keen to see are:

New York
Florida
Key West
Cape cod
New Orleans

Can you sugguest rental car companys, where to stay and if its possible to see all the above in that time frame or is it too rushed?

Looking at going in December / Jan next year. Whats the weather like at the time of the year?
We will be coming from NZ.

Cheers

Multi entry permit under visa waiver program

I have already applied for and received a visa for the USA under the visa waiver program (we are australians) for a transit journey from Australia via Los Angeles to Mexico City. I am now exploring further travel in the region and wish to go from Mexico to Jamaic and then Puerto Rico. Most flights from the Caribbean seem to go via Miami and PR is of course, US territory. So I am wondering if the same 90 transit visa will be OK for the transit via LA, transit Miami on the way to Jamaica and then entry to Puerto Rico.

Anyone know where I can get this information. I have tried all the USA visa webistes and dont seem to be able to find anything about multi entry/exit visas

Monument Valley

Hi we are travelling to MV in September and was wondering whether you can visit without having to go on an organised tour as we are just visiting for the day and won't be staying overnight. I also get the impression from reading a previous post that people don't rate Page and Lake Powell as a good place to stay? We are there simply as a place to stay to reach MV and visit a slot canyon before heading to Sedona - is there anything else to do around Page? Your opinions would be welcome. Incidentally we start our trip in Springdale for visits to Zion NP and Bryce Canyon. Thanks.

Underage surcharge if only one driver is -25?

Hi,

We would like to rent a car for 3 weeks in the USA (LA -> san fransisco). I am 25 and my boyfriend is 24. I understand most companies charge an underage fee for drivers of minus 25. If my boyfriend is additional driver, will we have to pay the full extra fee?

Thanks a lot!

Experience with Delta Airlines?

Hi,

We found flight tickets from Brussels to LA with a stop over in Atlanta, Georgia (1h50 to get to the other plane). The flight is with Delta but we are booking with KLM (not sure what that means exactly). It seems that all flights we find are operated by Delta so I was wondering what your experiences are with this company?

Given that it is a long flight we really like to have inflight entertainment and have a screen in front of us to see where we are, watch movies etc. Does Delta offer this?

Thanks a lot for the info!

Sanne

Entering by ferry from the Bahamas

Hello!

I am doing a 'round-the-world trip without using any airplanes. One of my possible destinations coming from South Africa would be the Bahamas. From there I would take the ferry to Florida if not finding another option to reach mainland. I am a citizen of Finland (EU). I have so far traveled from Finland to South Africa.

I am traveling without airplanes so I couldn't possess a flight ticket out of USA. Do you think this is a problem? How do people usually convince the immigration officials in a case like this that they would leave the country? It would be a little tricky having all the bus/trains tickets ready if, for example, I would travel through all of Southern USA and leave going over the border to Mexico.

Any comments, information or advice appreciated!

Thank you,
Markus

RV stays at Flying J fuel outlets

Good afternoon
My wife and self will be travelling in the USA for just under 3 months in a 19' RV. We will be mainly staying in BLM sites, National and State parks. Aprox. every 4th to 5th day I have also planned to stay at some RV parks. Also will be staying in RV parks in Tucson, Miami, Washington DC and San Francisco.
I note on the Flying J fuel stop web site they welcome overnight stays in their RV parking lot and they provide showers. I intend to purchase fuel from them and stay overnight on five occasions mainly on the Eastern and Northern areas of the USA.
I would like to enquire if any of the members have stayed at the Flying J fuel stops parking lot? If so how was your stay in regards to noise or any other concerns.
Thank you for any replies

Hotel in San Francisco???

Hello,

We will spent 2 days in San Francisco before heading to Asilomar and are looking for a good but affordable hotel in San Francisco. We are 2 adults and a boy aged 6 at time of travel.

The hotel should be easy to reach from the Airport and practical for sightseeing. We would like to make a city tour and an Alcatraz tour.

Has anybody a recommendation?

Thanks!
