Just looking for suggestions for my friend and I who are travelling to Miami (Four days), New York (8 days) and Las Vegas (three days) April 21st - May 6th.
Were basically interested in going out, having fun, meeting celebs, shopping etc. Were not really interested in doing all the museums and all that.
Of course we want to do all the 'must do' things in each place, but we dont want to spend all of our days site seeing.
Any suggestions of good bars/restaurants, things to do, good places to shop are appreciated :)
Me and my girlfriend are going from Norway to the US the 5-21 April.
We ar gonne drive Memphis-Oxford-Nashville-St.Luis-Indianapolis-Akron-New York.
I would be graceful for all tips about what to see and where to stay on this trip.
By the way is my hobby old american cars and I will hopefully find me one to buy, so if anyone knows about a good dealer please tell me :)
I like to explore (and photograph) interesting and atmospheric urban industrial neighborhoods across the USA. I never trespass; I take photos only from the street.
This summer, I want to explore several cities that are still heavy with fading industrial grandeur.
I'm looking for:
-- Decrepit, weedy districts containing a large number of mid-19th to early 20th century factories, mills, warehouses, foundries (abandoned or still in use), which haven't been modernized or converted into the dreaded "New York-style" loft condominiums.
-- Neighborhoods extensive enough to occupy me for a day or two of exploring on foot (for example, the West Bottoms neighborhood in Kansas City or the North Broadway district in St. Louis).
Apart from KC, St. Louis, and Pittsburgh, does anyone out there have a few industrially atmospheric/photogenic favorites of their own?

My partner and I are driving from the Bay Area to San Diego next Saturday. We'll be meeting our moms who are flying from the East Coast (yes, mothers-in-law together for a week. I'm quite confident it'll go well!) I have a basic knowledge of the SD/LA area, having been there a few times.
Moms are 74 and 84 years old and in reasonably good shape, but they will need to take things fairly slowly. We'll be in San Diego three full days.. We're staying in Old Town, and we'll probably spend a day exploring the Old Town area.
We're thinking of a day at the zoo. While at the zoo, we'll have time to explore Balboa Park. I know the zoo is hilly. Is there easy transit to get to many corners of the zoo? Also, thinking about the drive-through animal park, but the price is higher than I anticipated. I believe it's about 45 minutes from San Diego.
We'll have lunch at the Hotel del Corona... more »
Is it possible to enter Mexico from El Paso, then drive to Chihuahua, then re-enter Mexico by Big Bend National Park? If so, would there be hotels along this route to spend the night east of Chihuahua but west of the US border? Is this safe? What precautiosn would I need to take and what permits would I need?
Heading to LA for the first time,
I'm there for 5 days from the 27th of march
looking for the alternative parts of town with interesting people and a nice place to stay
I'm into New age knowledge, good music, Art, Culture and good food
if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be mostly appreciated..

My girlfriend and I (both 29) embark on a 9 month rtw trip starting by flying into LA this september 1st. We're currently undecided whether to start by staying in LA for a few days or head straight to San Diego once we have picked our hire car up from the airport. I hear labour day is sep 3rd but I'm not sure how that will effect each city - where would you rather be over that weekend? We enjoy a good party, shops, beaches, culture etc.. if anyone had any suggestions on an itin. it.d would be much appreciated. We fly out of San Fran on 16th sep so have 15 days to travel the coast.. We'd like to take in big sur, monterrey and yosemite if possible I also hear san luis is worth a visit.
Any suggestions on past experience on where stay in San Diego (unsure over beach or gaslamp dist), LA (hollywood or venice) and san fran (downtown or fishermans wharf). Are there many options f... more »
Are there any sites that give the best results for combined airfare and hotel package.
Is it maybe better to search for airfare deal and hotel separately?
Specifcially I am thinking of LA to Los Cabos.
My boyfriend and I are planning a week long trip to the Big Island over Labor day. We prefer to travel without a set itinerary but would like ideas from anyone who has travelled at this time of year on availability of accommodations and whether you recommend pre-booking. We want to explore both the Kona side and Hilo side, with a night or two of camping thrown in.
I'm going out to LA in June for internship but after that I plan to travel from LA to Miami, with a couple of friends, via Vegas - Phoenix Tuscan - Houston - New Orleans - Miami.
We considered hiring a campervan/RV, for the experience, but then the reality hit, that it costs a fortune, so we figured we'd look into just renting a car instead.
We're currently looking at the website http://www.usrentacar.co.uk/ which looks within our budget, I'm just curious to know if anyone else have gone through this company before or in fact know anywhere that is cheaper?
As you can see this is quite a journey so we're going to be stopping at a lot of hotels/motels. What is the average price per night we'll be looking at for accommodation? I know it varies from place to place, but we're just trying to estimate a rough budget.

Any suggestions for a solo traveller on-budget and eating? Some hostels have breakfast, otherwise I'm off for a Subway $ 3,- breakfast deal (bread + coffee): able to read a book while eating. Pain in the ass to eat at places that have seats for 4. Where to eat low-cost as a solo traveler? Micro-wave or oven warm-up dishes from a low-cost supermarket?
Specific suggestions for NYC/Washington (DC)/Chicago/Miami Beach/Seattle/SanDiego also welcome.
My wife and along with my dog and 24 foot trailer will be campig along the east coast from NC down to Key West this November and would like to know names of your favorite State Parks in this area and what makes them your favorites. Many thanks for any help
In August I'll be taking a two week holiday to include New York, Washington and Philadelphia. I have the New York part of the trip sorted and would appreciate any advice/suggestions for the rest of the trip.
I am planning to hire a car, after 4/5 days in NY and drive to Philadelphia and Washington. I am really interested in seeing some sights along the way and exploring a little outside these cities. What routes should I take to enjoy interesting views and what are the must see places along the way?
Thank you for any help with this trip :-)
I wonder whether anyone can help. I’ll be in Branson, Missouri, for a couple of days in September, travelling out on the 2.20 pm Greyhound / Jefferson Line to Kansas City on a Saturday. As there’s just the one bus out of Branson a day and it’s a weekend, would there be any chance it might be too crowded for me to get on? I don’t want to get stuck in Branson.
Many thanks for your help
