URGENT - how much cash for USA trip!!!

Hi Guys,

just have a very urgent question for you!

I'm Ylenia, 23 yrs old, Italian, going to a trip around USA from august 8th to mid Sept.
I will be travelling solo, going around for the first two weeks and then staying with friends for the rest of my stay.

My question is: how much Euros should I change into dollars? Exchange rate is going very bad so I'm going to the bank
TOMORROW to change money since I've seen trends and due to the fact that these fuc***g politicians are screwing up
Europe, the exchange rate is not gonna get any better.

Try to understand me, I'm a student, using money I saved from my tutoring jobs for this trip (graduation trip, but only flight is paid,
the rest is all on me). I have already paid for connection flights and buses so long distant transportation is ok, but unfortunately
hostels made me pay just deposit. Apart from 300$ to pay for acc... more »

Connecting Flight in Atlanta worries

Hi all,

So i'm travelling to the US from Manchester, UK next month.

My flight from Manchester lands into Atlanta.

I then have a connecting flight from Atlanta to Houston. Both flights are with Delta Airlines.

The time between my connecting flights is only an hour and a half.

Basically i'm concerned... will I have to reclaim my baggage in Atlanta, get through customs and immigration then
recheck my baggage and find my gate all in an hour and a half?!

or will my bags be automatically moved across to my second flight?

I've tried to find any information on this on the Delta website, but theres nothing, so any answers you could give would be amazing! thanks!

hawaii

We will be spending one month in Hawaii and want to visit Oahu, the Big Island, Maui and Kaui. We are not sure how much time to allow for each island, and on the Big Island, how to divide our time betweeen Hilo and Kona. We like to snorkel, photograph landscapes and mild hiking; in addition we want to see the petroglyps on the Kohala Coast , the observatory in Hilo and the volcanos on the Big Island and the one on Maui.

Can someone make some suggestions about time frames?

Thank you

Las Vegas Wedding afterparty!

Hello,
Myself and my fiancee are getting married ini April 2013 at the Tropicana Hotel. We have 4 people (our parents) coming out for the wedding (all from the UK). We would like to do something special (as a surprise) for them, but I am a little stuck for ideas.
The ceremony will be about 1pm - 2pm so would like to arrange for a nice meal (outdoors preferably) and maybe a show, or activity that we could do as a six to enjoy on the day. Before we have drinks at night..
I have heard that Lake Las Vegas has some nice restaurants, but wondered if anyone has been and can advise? The budget is around £500 for the day (not including the wedding) so are pretty flexible about what we do and where we go. Our guests are aged between 40 - 60, so as long as its not bungee jumping, I think most other things can be considered!
Thanks for any ideas! :o)

USA Trip 2012

My boyfriend and I are traveling to North America in October and will be spending 8 weeks trying to see as much as possible!

So far our plan is to fly into LA and then head straight to Chicago (which is already booked) from there we will be going to Niagra Falls, Boston, New York, Washington DC, North Carolina, South Carolina, Miami, New Orleans, Memphis, Dallas, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angels, Hawaii then back home to Australia.

How we are getting around and where we are staying isn't set in concrete, but these were the places we wanted to see.

Is there anything anyone can suggest doing, or a place we should stay for any of our stops, or is there somewhere that we should try and pencil into our trip that we haven't yet thought of?

Thanks :D

Two weeks down the east coast - starting from Montreal

Hey, so me and a couple of friends are looking for some suggestions for a 2 week trip down the american east coast. We'll be leaving from Montreal around mid-july and are looking for an even mix of nature / scenery and cities. All of us have also already been to New York city a couple of times and we'd skip it in order to see more new places. Any suggestions would be of great help, thanks !

San Francisco vs San Diego? University, nightlife, beaches...

I'm a 20 year old college student currently living in Colombia and coming back to california for school this fall. I'm stuck between these two places and originally from Los Angeles so believe me, i'm a city kid. I'm looking for a city that has these assets below:

Surfing (decent)
Nightlife (some discos)
Culture
Budget (somewhere i can work 25 hours a week and support myself)
People (character, welcoming)

If you have any ideas of which city please let me know. It'd really help. Thanks

5 Weeks in America..

Hi,

My husband and I are from Australia and we are planning one last big trip before we decide to have kids, therefor we want to make it a bit of a party and an all round good time.

The places we most want to go are, LA, San Fran, San Diageo, Las Vagas then onto Cancun then onto New York.. we have 5 weeks to do all of this.. So a few questions...

Is this enough time.. (i know that there will never be enough time to see everything)??
What are the best things to see and do in these places?
Is there somewhere better we should be going too?

I just want any suggestions anyone has, as we both really want to have a great trip and do as much as we can..

Thanks :)

Alaska in September

Hello there!

I am planning a trip to Alaska for the first week of September. The three of us are flying into Anchorage and will stay there as a home base for six days. We have some ideas on what we want to do:

A couple days hiking..
Hiking trails

  • Flatop Mountain trail
  • Rendevous Peak Route

Hanging out in Anchorage
  • Anchorage Museum
  • Alaska Native Heritage Center

We also thought about renting a car to drive down Seward Highway to Whittier. Any suggestions for stops along the way?

In Whittier I was thinking about doing a 3 hour kayak tour in the sound. The tour seems expensive but it also seems like it could be worth it. I am pretty athletic but have no experience kayaking. I feel like I would want the security of a guide just in case.

But I was also thinking that I would really love to see some glaciers. There is a ... more »

Are the Medicine Bow Mountians worth a few days stop?

My family, including two kids, is planning a trip to the Rockies. Now fires have closed the entrance to RMNP and we are looking for alternatives. Medicine Bow just north looks interesting but I'm having a really hard time finding travelers information. Has anyone camped there? We are going the week before the Cheyenna Rodeo so we need to stay far enough away to avoid the crowds. Looking for great scenery and wildlife with hiking opportunities.

Diving in NYC or surrounding areas

I am going to be staying in Manhatten from 7th July to 13th July and would love to do some diving nearby while I'm there. Has anybody got any recommendations for companies to use? I've just finished the PADI Advanced Open Water...and just want to get a few more dives under my belt....especially in waters which might be slightly warmer than the Atlantic Ocean off the north coast of Ireland :)
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Searching travel mates for hiking in Olympic National Park, WA in August

Hi there!

I'm in Seattle for work and would like to spend a few days hiking in the Olympic National Park (either multi-day trip or a few single day hikes) in mid August.
Would be more fun in a group than going alone. Is anyone planning a trip? Or do you know organized tours/ trekkings which I could join?

Let me know :-)
Ulli

Difference: Campsite/Tent site

Hello,

In Alaska's guide, it frequently uses the terms campsite and tent site for campground, but I wonder what's the difference between them. My guess is that a campsite is for a RV, whereas a campground is just for a tent.

What if I have a regular car + tent, what should I go for?

Thanks!
