Im going to Miami for New Year Eve.
I want to know where to go to spend the night. I would like a fine place to have dinner and wath some Fireworks.
All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.
I am looking for an advice as of a town\city with some interesting First Night 2014 events. Ideally not more than 10 hours drive from New Haven, CT.
My boyfriend and I did colonial Williamsburg First Night and we loooved it!!! Highly recommend. We did Boston first night - we found it a bit too massy. So for this year we a leaning towards something calmer in the colonial Williamsburg style, With some singing and dancing ;)
But pretty much any advice as of the city\town will be appreciated.
We are planning a trip Dec 23 to Jan 21.
We are flying into Sacramento and driving (?) to Portland. We would like to see the Redwoods, Crater Lake, Ashland, Eugene and a lot of the coast. Is there a way to take a train or bus and leisurely tour this area? We are trying to do it the cheapest way possible. Can we rent a van or something like it to camp in along the way. RV's are incredibly expensive. Any recomendations on cheap restaurants (under $15/person) or quarky places to stop would be appreciated too. We traveled along the coast 15 years ago and I still remember the great crab legs we bought at a little roadside stand. May not make the cheap category but any recommendations of great seafood would be appreciated too. We enjoy hiking (no summit climbs, but moderate hikes) beautiful scenery and nature. Would like to check out local art. Not much into shopping or wineries. Any r... more »
I will be looking a long road trip for 10 days during Christmas vacations. I will be driving my own starting from Los Angeles.
After many good suggestions from trekker502, CascadeBob and bzookaj and few readings, I learned that most feasible is to go towards Santa FE, NM.
I have already visited San Diego, places around LA, Kingman, Antelope, Grand Canyon, Zion, Las Vegas, Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Monterey, Big Sur, Yosemite, Mammoth Lakes, Lone Pine. I will be travelling with my wife and we are not much into hiking. We are mostly interested in scenic places and drives.
When going through few other forums, I found few places like Anza Borrego, Organ Pipe Cactus, Tuscon, Tombstone, Bisbee, Salt Lake Canyon, Petrified Forest, Hopi Reservations, Jerome. But there are very few reviews on these places on yelp and other sites. Are these places worth visiting ? Or please suggest places a... more »
Hey everyone! My wife and I are traveling with our 9 month old to Florida for some R&R on the 16th - 22nd. From the 22nd - 26th, we'll be in Miami at a conference, and will have pleeeenty of time to check out the beaches around the area and head out to the Everglades.
I've been combing the forums for some time looking for suggestions that would help us, and figured why not post?
1) Have a car, and we were thinking about going to Captiva (95% we're doing this).
2) Prefer not to spend more than $150/night on accomodations.
3) We don't care much for art galleries or museums, and we don't drink/smoke, or goto clubs.
4) We'd love picturesque beaches, with white sand, and beautiful water.
5) We like checking out small college towns like Ann Arbor, MI with its own unique culture, and wouldn't mind browsing shops.
6) We don't want to be in the car half the trip, ... more »
Has anyone taken a boat trip along the Na Pali coast during the winter months? If so which company did you use and would you recommend them? I was hoping to find at least one that left from the north shore but I'm guessing the rougher, more unpredictable winter surf prevents that. Thanks.
For my 1 year anniversary I took my girlfriend to Jacksonville and I took ideas from this website to kind of plan out what we were going to do for the weekend we spent there. With that being said, you can type in Jacksonville, Florida and see the places that I went to by title. This is a review so to speak, of the places I went to with my girlfriend and what I thought of them based on what this site suggested.
So our first stop would be the restaurant "AIX" or better known in Jacksonville as Bistro AIX. Upon getting off the interstate onto San Marco Blvd. at 9:30pm I didn't see much traffic - vehicle or foot - around the area and that kind of got me alarmed. I knew that the bistro was high-end and therefore I thought the area around it would be bustling but I was wrong. So even though I was skeptical, I decided to give it a try and upon walking in the bistro my attitude took a TOTA... more »
I'm headed to Miami for work - I've never been before…
I'm assuming that most of the gay nightlife is centred around South Beach but I was just wondering if there were any other "alternative" options/areas around the city…
I enjoy riding the old-fashioned trolleys and have ridden on the St. Charles Line in New Orleans out to Audubon Park and the trolley system in downtown Portland. It would be cool to ride others such as the ones in Little Rock, Tampa, and Kenosha, WI. Has anyone ridden these?
I live with my boyfriend in Pennsylvania, but often have to travel to New York City for business. (several times a month for a few days at a time). Its sporadic and I never know when or how long I'll need to crash in NY. When I do go to NYC, I stay with my parents until I can head back to Pennsylvania. But that is getting old, and doesn't work for me anymore.
I don't want to move back to New York, I like Pennsylvania. Does anyone know of hotel alternatives that are reasonable?
Or any websites that post safe rooms for rent on a day to day basis? Any suggestions are welcome! Can't stay with mom and dad anymore, and I haven't kept in touch with friends from the city in a long time....
