Hi everyone, and a Happy New Year!!
I posted a while back about the B2 visa as I was planning on a six month trip to the US with my other half, anyway, things have changed because he has been promoted at work and the opportunity was too good to pass for a 6 month holiday, so, our new plan, which is partly booked, is now a four week east coast trip from mid-August to mid-September this year.
Anyway, our plan so far is Boston for 3 nights, then renting a car for 4 days to explore some of New England, back to Boston to catch a train to Philly for two nights then catch a train to Washington for 3 nights.
We then pick up a car in Washington and have 12 days to drive to Miami (12 days as we are due to book into our hotel in Miami on 12 September). The only stops we have planned at the moment are Myrtle beach, Charleston and Savannah. I would like to get to Miami a couple of days e... more »
Does anyone know of good package deals to Kauai, in February, specifically more for hotel + car rental for about 4-5 days for a solo traveler? Or if not, suggestions for an economical trip for one person? Thanks.
I am planning a trip to the Rocky Mountains (Colorado, Nebraska, North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho) this year but am kinda stuck whether to go to Craters of The Moon NM or Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. We will be coming from Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP and we want to go to Dinosaur NM (Vernal). I am intrigued by the things I have seen about Craters of The Moon NM but I was wondering if it is really worth the detour. If we would visit the park our schedule would be the following:
- Grand Teton NP → Idaho Falls
- Idaho Falls → Twin Falls (visit COTMNM)
- Twin Falls → Vernal (this is a long day on the road with not much special along the way. We could make a stop at SLC but that would take an extra day)
However, friends of mine suggested to take an alternative route and visit Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area instead of COTMNM:
- Grand Teton N...
Can anyone who has ridden on the Cumbres & Toltec and the Durango & Silverton RR give me an idea of which is better or any pro's and con's. I think I only have the time to do one and not both.
Hi I'm a 19 year old bi guy creative and fun, not into drinking or partying that much who's moving to manhattan for a month end of jan-start march 2013 solo. Im coming over from australia where i live but was born in the usa so am looking to get a job or an internship while im over, mainly going for a holiday though. Been looking on air bnb but cant seem to decide on an area! I want to be close to times square and all the buildings there, plus the museums and shops near central park, but also want to be around a quiet area where younger creative types hang out. I know its only a month but i would like to hopefully meet some people and be able to setlle down yet sight see aswell! My budget for the month is hopefully keeping it under $3000(Accommodation that is).Anyone have any suggestions of areas or even websites to find apartments/hotels on? THANKS!!!!
I'd like to do a pkg tour of Yellowstone in the winter for about a week. Maybe one offered by Xanterra: http://www.yellowstonenationalparklodges.com/packages-specials-103.html but open to other companies. Interested in sites and wildlife viewing. Some snowmobiling, snowshoe, and snowcoach. Photography. Looking for non-smoking travel buddy over 30. Suggestions for tour packages welcome as well. Thx.
I'm travelling to Houson this March and would like to visit my friends in College Station for a day or two. Is it alright to use the Greyhound bus? The trip will basically take me to Bryan where I can schedule to have myself picked up by a friend. Is it safe for me to go on my own? I'm asking because I've never used a Greyhound bus before and I've heard horror stories regarding crime in the bus. I don't live in the US so I wouldn't know. Thanks!
I'm travelling to the US this march under a tourist visa. I recently had my passport renewed, so my US Visa (issued back in 2010) is still stamped to my old passport. Should I have the visa transferred to my new passport? How should I do this? Thanks
I'm looking to participate in an alternative spring break trip. I'd prefer to try California, Nevada, Texas, or any big city. I'm from Detroit and haven't travelled much but I just want to see a new place during my spring break! Is anyone aware of a place that offers volunteer-based spring break trips that isn't affiliated with a particular university?

I'm planning a trip to California in June. The main attraction for us will be Yosemite, but we would like to see the sequoia's whilst we are in the neighbourhood.
We only have 10 days holiday and expect to spend maybe 4 days in Yosemite. How many days do I need for Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks?
A frequent question on TT is what to do outside Manhattan while on a visit to NYC. The NY Times published their answer today, blending their ongoing "Frugal Traveler" and "36 Hours In..." features:
36 Hours in Queens, N.Y.
36 Hours? In Queens, Enough Frugal Options for a Week
