Europe - UK & Ireland

If the name on the booking is correct but says Miss and the passport says Mrs is that a problem or not?
I am looking for good advices on places to stay in the UK & Ireland, since the prices are high in summer due the crowds... and the £ is really expensive to me!
So, do you know places that offer just a good room with a bed (or with a breakfast) for a decent price in the following cities?
Thanks a lot for any info!!
I will be going up to England for a month this coming September, and I've pasted my rough itinerary below. It is my first time to the UK so I'm not experienced with moving around. Would appreciate some comments on how I can improve this, and how doable this will be.

I'm planning a week long trip to England at the end of the month. I'm flying into London and hoping to head straight to Cornwall (or similar) for some surfing. I've read that Ponzeath and Sennen are good beaches but I can't find cheap accommodation close to them.
Any recommendations for good surfing beaches for intermediate surfers, with accommodation close by would be great. I won't be renting a car o it'll have to be accessible with public transport.
Also any tips on good surf schools and nice places to hang out post surf would be a much appreciated bonus!
Just a warning to anyone who might be considering using this service (or any other overnight bus) as my daughter and a friend did last week. She slept most of the way, but at some stage of the journey £200 cash was taken from her purse. She accepts she was naive and should have been more careful, but her bag was under her feet so it wasn't totally obvious. It seems that the thief went under her seat from the one behind, took the money and replaced the purse. She only discovered the theft when she went to buy a travelcard at Victoria. The Met police are not bothering to investigate (despite CCTV on the bus!) and Megabus are not in the least interested.
I'm returning to Ireland in August and bringing my Kiwi beau with me. We have decided to spend a few days in Northern Ireland as neither of us have been there. Any recommendations for three-day itinerary? We like historical sites, eating out, looking at beautiful scenery and going for walks. We had thought about doing a Black Cab tour and also checking out Giant's Causeway. We are also big Game of Thrones fans so any pointers on where it was filmed most welcome!
unusually I'm flying out of Heathrow this autumn for my winter getaway instead of Manchester. I got the flight, because it was unusually cheap - £200 or even £250 less than what I normally would expect to pay (when allowing that prices usually increase each year).
the flight is at 9.15am which means I cannot fly down from Manchester really, straight into Heathrow which I did consider.
I could get an airport bus I suppose but this probably costs about £40 one way these days and is not all that nice journey.
so another alternative is to go down a day or 2 days before and just stay in some cheapie guesthouse. I did this before, some years ago it was in Chiswick and cost about £30 or £35 if memory serves in 2007. There was nothing wrong with it at all, but I forgot what it was called.
maybe being in London for a day or two prior to leaving the UK might not be so bad an idea. ... more »
Hi, My family & I (2 adults / 2 kids under 11) will be in London for 2 weeks in September and I really want to take advantage of this deal:
but I'm not sure about the best way to do so! We are flying into Heathrow and then traveling into London by tube (and then catching a train - we've already booked advance fares - from London to Oxford at the end of our stay) but I have heard that we won't be able to use the tickets from Heathrow to kick start this deal.
I have also been told that we should use Oyster Cards while we are in London but I don't think they are compatible either - or are they?
During the 2 weeks we would ideally use the 2-for-1 deal to go to the Tower of London and The Globe Theatre exhibition etc. but we are also travelling (again by train) out to Windsor and want to use it at Legoland.
Can anyone help clarify ... more »
Swan-upping is an old English custom.
During the second or third week of July, boats travel up the river Thames holding men representing the Queen (to whom all the mute swans officially belong) and a couple of the old London guilds. When they see a cygnet (baby swan) or family of them (usually but not always with the adult swans) the boats surround them, cutting them off from getting away. The cygnets are then weighed, marked and recorded.
You can get the whole gen. by googling. There's a timetable on one of the sites, but don't expect it to be on-the-dot accurate as the boats may travel faster or slower depending on how many times they do or don't stop for cygnet-marking.
This is the third day and they will continue until Friday afternoon. This morning they set off from Marlow.
I went and saw it yesterday and hurried along the Thames Path to hopefully catch them with the ... more »
I would plan a 2 days 1 night trip to Isle of Skye from Edinburgh by driving. Could you all please advice what is the place to visit at Isle of Skye and which area to stay is more convenience to access.
Thanks for the advice.
There are many different options of passes for London through Raileurope website when you purchase your train tickets.
Is it a good idea to buy a pass and what is the best option for a 5 day trip.
Unlike Changi and most decent airports rip off Gatwick doesn't have free net-at least officially!
I recently killed a night in the North Terminal online by signing up to the half hour free Boingo trial, followed by registering with another email address, another free 30 minutes etc..
Bit of a drag creating a new gmail account every half hour but it works!
My husband and I are traveling to London in late September for 4 days. I am trying to decide if we should stay in South Bank or Fitzrovia. I've been looking at tons of websites and forums and narrowed it down to those two based on the proximity to tourist attractions and descriptions from airbnb.com.
We are in our late 20s, and we want to see a lot of the normal tourist sites (Tate Modern, Big Ben, Parliament Building, Borough or Portabello Market, Regent Park, Science museum, walk along River Thames, Tower of London, Trafalgar Square...), but we are also interested in seeing street art, performers, some shopping at local shops (not expensive designer shops). We want to be in an area with a lot of restaurants and pubs that we can walk to. Also, we are probably going to rent a small apartment, but I'm still open to hotels - we are looking to spend around $200 a night, but could poss... more »
We would like hiking, visit and see the real Scotland. We intend to use public transportation.
Both of us are over 70 but physically fit and not spoiled at all.
We welcome recommendations, directions and advices.
Perhaps because of the warm weather, there are more Weever Fish (Echiichthys vipera) than normal. I was stung by one of them near Land's End.
The best treatment is as hot water as you can stand withou burning the skin.
I was glad, that there were people who knew what happened to me and how to treat. some campers nearby let their stove so that my husband could heat water. Later at the hospital, a check was done and after 12 hours, i felt much better
