Chatsworth House & Haddon Hall - Best days to visit?
Hello,
I will be staying in Buxton for a week and would like to spend one day visiting Chatsworth House, and one day visiting Haddon Hall. I am just wondering if either of these tend to be super busy on the weekend. Would a week day be better to visit these places rather than on a Saturday? Also, is it necessary to book a ticket online? Or can you usually just buy a ticket at when you get there?
Thanks!

Patrick Conway's to re-open
Historical site and allegedly Dublin's oldest pub, Patrick Conway's in Parnell St, is being renovated to re-open. According to some fellow drunks I know.
I don't know if, having been closed for what must be a number of years now, it gets to continue its claim for age.
Hopefully it'll be done with an effect of more authenticity than the nearby Parnell's lounge and bar or whatever it is called.
Which would be nice.
Photogenic lake or loch in Scotland
Often seen on pictures, films...there are views of scottish lakes or lochs with tiny islands covered with trees. I know something like that along Loch Sunard or Loch Lomond, but I would like to find more of these sceneries...
Where are your more beautiful lakes/lochs in Scotland?

Don't Want to Drive in Ireland
We're in our seventies and planning our first trip to Ireland. We prefer not to drive on the left. What is the next-best way to see some of the country without being tied to a big bus tour?

Eating late in Tarbert, Harris
I am arriving at 7pm this Friday into Stornoway airport. I'll need to collect my hire car and make a quick trip to a supermarket (in Stornoway) to get some provisions. I then hope to drive down towards Tarbert, in readiness for hiking an Cliseam the following morning.
What are my chances of finding some food in Tarbert late on a Friday night? I don't suppose I'd be arriving there before about 9pm. I'm not looking for anything fancy, maybe some fish and chips from a takeaway? Do any pubs serve food at that time? Or am I better off staying in Stornoway the first night and doing the drive the folowing morning?
Many thanks, Heidi

Many Irish people are so nice to visitors
I've just returned from 5 days around Dublin and I've been so struck by the number of Irish people who were so friendly and helpful to me, going out of their way to show me directions to places when this had nothing to with their job or any sort of gain. It just kept on happening.
England/Scotland Roadtrip 25 days
Hi,
Four of us (22-25years) have a hire car for 25 days this May/June and are planning on taking a roadtrip to parts of England and Scotland. I say 'parts' because we don't want to spend all day every day driving so understand we can't get north, south, east and west of both countries.
We prefer more natural sights, walking/hiring bikes/adventure activities rather than visiting big cities. We're starting and ending in London but the 25 days will be spent out of London. We like the coast. Does anyone have a favourite spot/activity etc in England and/or Scotland to share that may help us to roughly plan our trip?
My second question is, has anyone had experience roadtripping in the Uk and if so, what sort of accommodation did you find? We are on a budget and prefer self-catering accommodation. Are we likely to need to book ahead?

Visiting Scotland - Calling All Fellow Wanderers
Hello Everyone,
I'm from Canada and will be in Glasgow on May 30th and June 1st, and Edinburgh June 2nd. This will be my first time travelling in Scotland - I think it would be fun to meet up with any travellers or native Scots, male or female, to explore the city, be it just for a coffee or part of a day of sight seeing. I'm particularly interested in checking out some live music in Glasgow, and think it would be more fun with others. Anyone interested?

Visiting Skye
Hi everyone
I live in Scotland and i'm heading up to Skye on Monday for minimum 3 nights. It's last minute and i'll be riding solo. I'll be staying in a hostel on the Minginish peninsula. I'll have my car for getting around the island. I like to walk, whether its flatland or up mountains. I'll also be looking to explore any towns worth visiting. Can anyone recommend any day walks in the area or within a reasonable driving distance? I don't mind driving 20-30 minutes or even further to get to a particularly nice spot. I'd also be interested in getting a look at some of the sea eagles, where would be a good spot for this? Any tips/advice/recommendations in general for anything on Skye would be helpful. Also, if anyone requires a lift up there on Monday (i'm thinking backpackers passing through Edinburgh & Glasgow) i'd be happy to help out.
Much appreciated, cheers
Craig

computers with printers
I haven't done much overseas travelling since so much is booked online - we're off to Ireland for 4 weeks, and have booked flights from Gatwick to Dublin return with Ryan Air - you have to print your boarding pass before arriving, no problem on the way, but I don't think I can do the return one 4 weeks in advance, so my question is, where in Ireland am I most likely to find computer access with a printer? Any chance that B&B's will be able to help? Thanks.

dubpubs08 part one
Below is version eight of a ‘pubs in Dublin’ list, called dubpubs08 and it is far from complete. Includes contributions from other posters, especially Fear-Rua, Philipd and Stiofan75. All the great entries are from others, any errors are mine.
Opinions gratefully received. Prices change (well, let’s be honest, they go up).
ANY POSTERS WHO WANT TO ADD THEN POST THE PUB IN THE FORMAT OF BELOW, LESS THAN 100 WORDS, AS A REPLY. DITTO FOR AMENDMENTS.
The new additions are The Celt in Talbot St and Bakers in Thomas St near Guinness.

York - 2.5 days
Hi All,
I'll be in York with work in mid-June and am hoping to take a couple of extra days. (arriving early on a Sunday afternoon, so 2.5 days free in York).
Just wondering if there is 'enough' stuff to see that is walkable to; say around the city centre? I'm probably going to stay out at the university which I think is walkable to the city centre (2 miles?), or there are good bus services. (unless you have a better suggestion)
I wasn't intending on hiring a car at the airport, but that is an option if it would be better than public transport/walking to see things.
I suppose 'attractions' will close about 1700 on a Sunday? So I might not have time to do much other than walk around on the day I arrive.
Not big into pubs/clubs. Theatre/cinema - yes, historic sights - yes, wandering about lovely streets - yes, art galleries - no, (traditional) museums - not really.
