How long should it take to apply an on line top up. 11 pm last night I was trying to do an on line top up, auto renewal no longer works as I upgraded my credit card, and it said that it would apply from the 9 Nov.
How can it take in excess or 24 hours to apply an on line top up? Seems odd that you need to know 48 hours in advance that you need to top your card up on line.
(I posted a topic earlier but I'm not sure where it went, sorry if this becomes a double post!)
Hi! I'm a 23 year old US citizen & my boyfriend (whom I met online in 2009) is a UK citizen.
I went to the UK in November of 2011 to visit my boyfriend and I was granted a 6 week tourist visa, though at the time of this visit we were only just establishing our relationship and I told the immigration officer that he was just a friend whom I hoped to engage in a relationship with if we got along. Also, at the time of this visit I had been working at the same place for two years and had a letter from my employer that I was scheduled to be back at work on December 14th 2011.
I just started a new job in August and my trip (which I haven't booked yet) will be scheduled for March 5th - March 26th 2013 that's three weeks. I'm worried I don't have enough ties to my country and that I'll b... more »
I'd like to go to Edensor village and I heard that I should get off in Derbyshire from Chesterfield, UK, from The Netherlands. I have checked traveling time to get there from London airports, Cambridge and Harwich port, and it takes about around 4-5 hours. Could any one recommend how to get there the nearest and the fastest from The Netherlands (Amsterdam or Rotterdam area)?
Am reading thru this England site in the early hours awaiting an operation to resolve a lack of vision (British understatement).
I am surprised by the frequency of questions on where to visit for a few days close to London:
The Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, closest to London is The Chiltern Hills - close to Oxford.
There are buses 24/7 between London and Oxford, normally every 12 minutes - easy to access.
The Chilterns are a range of beech-covered hills with well-maintained patths and access - loadsa walkers' pubs etc,
Give it a go!
I am looking to travel from the south west of England (Plymouth) where i am at university to the south east (Kent) where my hometown is, and then back again. I am preferably looking to travel between the 20th-26th Nov so that i can get home to see my partner. I do actually have a car and would be more than happy to drive but i lack petrol money.
Is anyone either traveling between these two destinations around about this time and feels like taking me along for the ride? or is there anyone out there who would like to fund the petrol money and I'd be happy to take them to their destination like a cheap chauffeur or taxi...
I know its a bit cheeky to ask but i thought it was worth a shot, I am a good driver with 5years experience and no penalty points.
This is my first trip to London. I'm looking to do a day trip to Bath, Salisbury and Stonehenge (or maybe just Bath depending on the time, not rushing myself :)). I looked up trains and found so many sites! Any pointers on which ones are the best and cheapest from London Paddington/Waterloo?
I've just written up a plan of attack for my Ireland trip.
I arrive on the 3rd of January and so far this is the plan, open to absolutely any suggestions or other places to visit as I have the time to extend the trip 3 or so days!
Dublin 3 nights
Kilkenny 1 night
Clonakility 1 night
Cork 2 nights
Kenmare 2 nights
Killarney 1 night
Dingle 2 nights
Doolin 2 nights
Galways 2 nights
Thanks to any suggestions!

I am an Indian Citizen, resident in the USA for the last 7 years. I am flying from SFO to India, via London, by Virgin Atlantic. I have a 23 hour layover in London Heathrow on my way out. I booked a last minute ticket. Plan was to get a UK visa and check out the city for a day. But I couldn't get an appointment at any of the local visa application centers. So I am now stuck at Heathrow, without a visa.
I would gladly pay for a hotel at the airport. But my research tells me that there are no hotels airside. I will have to pass through Immigration for all the airport hotels, which I can't. This includes Sofitel &Yotel. None of the airport lounges seem to be open overnight.
Looks like I will be camping out at the terminal for a day. Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks in advance!
My daughter and I booked Edinburgh 12/21 thru 12/26 & 12/31 thru 1/2. Any suggestions for the other days?
Train? Overnight stays? Car rental? Overnight tours?
Also, how easy is it to see the sights without a car in Edinburgh.
I'm heading to the UK from Australia within the next couple of months, I would like to stay as long as I can in the UK and Europe without a visa. I can't get a working holiday visa, I could possibly get a ancestry visa as my Grandmother was born in Scotland but that would take too long and Ive been to court a few times here due to traffic offenses about 10 months ago so wouldn't look good on an application I'm supposing.
I read that I can stay in the UK for up to 6 months and on a tourist visa within a 12 month period at the digression of the migration officer on the day I arrive, that seems bizarre that your future 6 months and plans depend on the mood of another individual on that day, I also must have a plane ticket out either return to Oz or just out of the UK. Anyway to those that have done this and know the pit falls etc I'm asking whats the best way to go? Can I arri... more »
We're off to the All Blacks vs Scotland game this Sunday and thought it could be nice to walk along the Water of Leith walkway from Stockbridge to Murrayfield Stadium. Could anyone advise approximately how long this walk would take? Just want to make sure we're at the game with time to spare.
