Car Hire in Siem Reap: To Distant Temples
Hi Everybody,
We are two travelers in Siem Reap looking to explore the temples of Bantry Sri, BengMalea and the River of a Thousand Lingas. To hire a driver for the day costs 90 dollars...it's a bit much for two people, but the rate stays the same with added passengers. Any one up for joining us to split the costs? I've been to these sites a few years ago, and definitely recommend them.
If you are interested in joining, or have some advice -let me know!
I am more than willing to organize the trip if I have another two to count on!
Thanks,
Kirsten

Travel to Myranmar (Visa Question)
Hi - I would like to visit Myranmar, but was hoping for some reassurance about my Visa situation. I'll be traveling with an American passport. My current plan is to fly from Israel to Bangkok, stay a day to get a visa processed, and then fly into Myranmar. My understanding is that I can get a Visa processed in Bangkok for Myranmar in one day - can someone confirm? In addition, any travel tips into the country would be greatly appreciated.
thanks for your time,
Ly

Look I've been searching for a Vietnam train website, and have found these three and are they all genuine or are some more genuine than the other?
Website 1
Website 2
Website 3
The first two have a little logo in the address bar.
Thank you.

Transport or taxi to the mainland by Koh Sdach?
I'm trying to get to the mainland near Koh Sdach, the village is called Poi Jopon/Poyopone. Can anyone recommend how to get there from Phnom Penh? I'd love to find a taxi driver willing to this route, but trying to explain where it is might make my head explode. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Best souvenir from Vientiane?
I have been to VTE probably six times in the last year and my work contract is coming to an end. I need a good souvenir to have from VTE...but what to get that I cannot get in Bangkok where I live. It seems that half of the stuff for sale in VTE I can get at home in Bangkok. Anyone know something nice to get...not spending for an antique, but don't want a trinket or t-shirt...

Budget guesthouse in Taunggyi
I'm in Taunggyi, I really like it but can't find any nice accommodations. So far I'm at Saung Cherry Hotel which is $15. I prefer under $7. Does anyone know of a guesthouse that accepts foreigners in Taunggyi in the budget range? It seems the Muse Hotel is now gone. Please don't write back that I should stay in Naungsan or something, I like it here and want to stay here.
Thanks

Easy/Nice way from Cambodia to Laos
Hi
Currently in Cambodia and will be heading to Laos in 2/3 weeks. We were planning to go to Kratie and from there to Pakse
But all the research we've done seems to suggest the land/river border crossing is a nightmare. Busses don't go non-stop, and swapping busses seems to end in you being dumped in the middle of nowhere with all the associated hassles. We can't find any tour companies that go direct (as per Sinhtourist Vietnam-->Cambodia - which incidentally we did on the 3 day Mekong trip hassle free).
We are backpackers but we're not on a tight budget, and prefer to buy our way into easy and nice solutions rather than have hassle and bar stories :)
We would ideally like to see Kratie, but can head back to PP if needed.
We want to start in south Laos, with intended route Pakse, Savannakhet, Tha Khaek, Vientiane , Vang Vieng , Luang Prabang then over to Thailand pro...

How to get to the Kong Lo Cave from Pakse?
hello,
my name is luise.
i'm in pakse at the moment and i would like to see the kong lo cave.
can anyone tell me how to get there, without too much hassle.
and can i do this trip on one day, or do you think i should stay overnight in one of the villages. if so, how do i get there in one day from pakse.
and very important how much does it gonna cost me. im a girl travelling alone. how much is the bus from pakse to the village and how much to get to the cave and most important how much is the cave itself.
you would really help me answering all this questions.
thanks a lot
luise

Hair cut in Laos...
Hey there,
just wondering if anyone could reccommend a hairdresser in Laos (probably somewhere like Vientiane) ?
I just want a trim, no styling or anything complicated it's just that i have thick, curly hair & a few dreadlocks in my unruly mane & i want someone who can handle that. I'm not looking for a fancy Toni & guy or whatever just someone i can explain what i need doing & is confident with 'funny' hair...
Thanks in advance!

Burma election April 2012? Issues with travel?
Has anyone heard about this? I was told by a friend that this might be an issue, as we had originally been planning to go in April. But now that I'm doing the searches on the internet I can't find any information, or travel warnings on government (US, UK etc) websites.

Bargaining in laos? and how?
Hi there,
i assume travling through laos westerners will likely be quotet higher prices than standard, no matter what u want to buy. Is there any polite question / phrase to ask for a discount / lower price? One that doesnt put one into a conversation due to the language barrier. In latin america the two simple words "nada menos" (not less) for exemple works wonders and doenst offend the locals.

Bus travel - Mekong
Not sure this is the right place to post this, but i need to warn all you travellers in Vietnam.
January 27th i bought 5 boat/bus tickets from Phu Quoc to HCMC for me and my family.
I paid overprize but we had to get to HCMC airport to catch a flight to Beijing and this was our only oportunity.
The trip was our WORSE EXPERINCE EVER travelling in Asia. I will spare you all for the long story, this is the short version: We were put on and off several busses (busses that was falling apart - no aircon and not enough seats for all the passengers)
We ended up in Chau Doc where we had to take a taxi to HCMC.
I have contacted the bus company with my complaint - i think they should pay the taxi fare (2,500.000 VND) but of course there is no reply from them.
This is the companys that you don´t wish to ever use:
HA TIEN MEKONG CO., LTD + KAMPOT TOURS & TRAVEL
they also have an office in...

toilets in treehouses
Hi- I'd like to try the zip lines in Laos & sleeping in the treehouses but I have a big problem- I need to go to the toilet at least once (sometimes twice) throught the night (and I'm a female so can't just 'go over the side'). Where is the toilet situated? This is more of a worry to me than spiders, rats etc!
