Vietnam Country Tour Recommendations
Hi, I'm planning a trip to Vietnam and was thinking about either getting a package tour to take me from Hanoi, through the center of the country at Hue and Danang, then down to Ho Chi Minh City. Or just do a few days in Hanoi then fly to Ho Chi Minh City. Was wondering if anybody had a great experience with a tour company. Looking for a middle of the road budget, not backpacker but not 5 star. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

TREKKING IN VIETNAM IN JANUARY
Hi. We are planning our trip to Vietnam for a few weeks in January. We would love to do a 4 or 5 day trek quite strenuous. Also, we enjoy areas not so well travelled! Any suggestions as to where to go? I have been doing some research on Ha Giang - anyone trekked there? Many thanks.

Quy nhon versus Tuy Hoa for a famaily of 4
Hello,
My family and I (2 adults and 2 kids agaed 9 and 3) will be traveling through Vietnam (than Cambodia and Thailand) starting in mid May of this year. If it matters we are from California.
We will be coming from the north via Dong Hoi, Hue, Kon Tum and then back to the coast. I can not decide between Quy Nhon and Tuy Hoa. We are looking for a bit of beach, culture, low key town life without hordes of tourists. Does anyone have an opinion which town would be better for a family of 4?
Thanks in advance.

normal visa confusion
I'm a US citizen living in Los Angeles. There's no Vietnamese consulate here. My intentions are to fly from here to the Phillipines, have 3 weeks there, then fly to Hanoi. I won't be staying in Manila, so I won't be going to the Vietnamese Embasy there.
Due to the stories about online visa scams, I'm extremely wary about doing anything online. Admittedly, I'd rather do it all online, instead of dealing with the Vietnamese embassy in Washington DC, or the Vietnamese consulate in San Francisco.
So, is there an official online site that allows me to get whatever it is I need for when I land at Hanoi airport?
Thanks very much.

ho chi minh to Cambodia
Hi guys,
i am traveling to Vietnam for few days in april. i will land in HCM and was wandering how to spend those five days. Would you recommend to cross the border to Cambodia and checking out also that part? i am not sure in future I will be able to go to Cambodia, so I would try to get the chance of seeing the most I can. In case, which means of transport would you recommend to use??
Thank you!

Guest House/Hotel in HCMC and Nha Trang
In April I plan on a trip to Vietnam and am looking for inexpensive lodgings, $25 per night or less, in both HCMC and Nha Trang. The backpacker area of HCMC is ok and a couple years back I stayed at the Ngoc Minh Hotel on Pham Ngu Lao St., which was ok but thought I'd try somewhere else this trip. It's been years since I was last in Nha Trang and I don't recall the name of the hotel where we stayed but it was near the beach. Thanks for any recommendations.

Vietnam/Cambodia
Hello everyone,
We are off to Vietnam/Cambodia for 3 weeks in May and I just have a few questions.
We are from Australia and I have been told we can download forms for Visas via the Internet fill them in and take some passport photos then go to the Visa on arrival section once we arrive in Ho Chi Minh - is this correct or is it easier just to arrange the travel agent to do it for us - just seemed quite expensive $150.00 each plus a courier fee of another $100.00.
We want to catch the boat down the Mekong into Phnom Penh - thinking of using Sinh Cafe/Sinh Tourist - I know there are a few copies are they ok to use - we want to do the 2 night trip getting off in Phnom Penh.
I've travelled in Thailand but not been to Vietnam before - haven't arranged any transfers - are the taxis metered or do you negotiate a price at the airport, we are staying in District 1 - what should I b...

Visiting North in July. Transport between Lao Cai, Sapa, Can Cau.
Hi, We are traveling from Saigon to Hanoi by train, with a 2 day break along the way, and then intend to take the Train to Lao Cai, for 3 nights in the hills, one night in each of Sapa, can Cau, and Bac Ha. Thurs, Fri, Sat. for scenery, markets relaxing. Train return to Hanoi.
We plan to pre-book all rail through "National Rail Enquiries", here in Melb prior to departure.
The important point is: do we pre-book a "package' for the North, or, travel independantly taking Bus, Taxi, Car ? between Sapa, Can Cau, etc.
We realise that this the "wet" time of the year, but the point is for us to see all the Greens, which aren't there when the rice paddies are fallow in the Dry.
I was in this area in 2007, but was traveling by Motorcycle, so hadn't taken any notice of other transport options.
We both travel independantly in SEA frequently.
Please feel free to comment.

Danang to Hue
Hi,
I booked a flight from HCMC to Hue (for this Sunday). Vietnam Airlines (I accidentally typed airlies there - perhaps a better name for them) has just deigned to let me know that actually the Hue airport is closed so I'm flying to Danang. And no, they won't provide any assistance to travel from Danang to Hue.
I'm less than impressed.
So, given that I arrive just after 4pm on Sunday afternoon any suggestions on my best way of getting to Hue. The whole point of this trip was to get to Hue so I'm just looking for fast/efficient/cheap not bothered about scenery etc. Does anyone know if there's an afternoon bus? Trains? I'm googling but so far not finding the information I'm after so any tips much appreciated.

Airasia cancels Kuala Lumpur - Da Nang flight
Looks like Airasia is cancelling their Kuala Lumpur to Da Nang flight again citing excuses like "flight and business realignments". I knew I should have booked this flight last year when I had the chance. Looks like it is going to be harder to travel to Da Nang now. I wonder what other destination airasia is going to cancel next?
