Hi, I'm going to Sulawesi in June/July and as well as visiting the city of Makassar and Tanah Toraja, I would like to spend some time relaxing on a beach, ideally close to Makassar.
I've read about Pantai Bira, but I wondered if there are any beaches nearer to Makassar, which are suitable for a few days' relaxation. I'm not into surfing or diving, but I do like swimming in the sea, and accommodation would also be necessary. Thanks.
Hello, I have a Chilean Passport, this alows me to go for 30 days to Malaysia without visa. But I have a problem, I want to go to several countries in Asia for a period of 3 months and the cheapest way I found of doing this was going though Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), staying there one or 2 days every time and one longer time in the middle of the trip (8 days). I would like to know how can I do it with my visa, do I have to get any special type or what can I do. If you could give me a hand I´ll really appreciate it!
I need to get out of Singapore for 5 or 6 days to a beach. That is nice, cheap and not too difficult to get to. I'm talking backpacker price range. I'll fly out of SIN if I have to but would rather go cheaper if possible.
I realise that there are many posts dealing with precisely this type of request, but each focuses on a likely destination. I'll go anywhere! as long as it fits these criteria.
I have considered (but can not decide upon); Tioman (rain?) Perhentians (rain? + little tricky to get to) Redang (expensive? spoilt?) Bintan (expensive? not that nice?) Batam (a brothel?) Sibu (?) Kapas (looks nice but cant find cheap accommodation?). I would like to consider any option on west side of penninsular Malaysia. Would even consider flying to Jakarta if I could get to this place within a few hours.
As a benchmark I recently went to Big Chang in Thailand and stayed at KP Hu... more »
I read about some people having sunblock confiscated at airport in Denpasar. It wasn't clear, but I assume this is only a problem with the hand luggage liquids allowance, right? Anyone hear anything about this?
We have 3 weeks to travel anywhere from Singapore in June - would be interested to hear of some unique places to visit in Indonesia and different ways to get around the place. We want to avoid Bali - we enjoy adventure travel, animals, water, jungle, temples....So any ideas about getting from Singapore across to Indo and around would be much appreciated.
Hey I'm flying into Banda Ache next Wednesday on my way to Pulau Weh. We arrive on the Air Asia flight from KL at like noon or so and was wondering if anyone could tell me if they thought there would be enough time for us to get our visas, find a cash point and get some money out, and catch a taxi to the ferry terminal in time to catch a slow or fast ferry over to Pulau Weh? Or whether we should just plan to stay the night in Banda Ache.
Also, if we do layover in Banda Ache - any recommendations on cool/interesting things to do while there? Or places to stay?
Thanks in advance for any help!!!
This summer (2012) I am traveling for about 7 weeks to Kudat, Sabah, East Malaysia for an environmental expedition through Raleigh International. I do understand that I need appropriate gear against leeches, mosquitos, etc. My main concern at this point is about safety; I am a 19 year old female and will be doing most of the traveling myself before I meet up at camp. It would be great to hear some advice or tips while traveling and what I can do to help ensure my own safety. If anyone also has tips on gear that would be lifesaving in the rainforest (aside from the obvious) that would also be much appreciated.
So far on this trip to the Philippines I have use a Atm 21 times.
I have used the HSBC Atms in Davao. Cebu. and Manila and have not paid any php200 Atms fess.
so I have saved php4200 thats $99.00 us dollars.
you dont need to pay the php200 atm fess that philippines owned banks ask for.
Just look for a any HSBC or CITI bank or Standard chartered bank or Maybank of malaysia Atms.
save you money and have a nice trip.
We are looking to go to an island for around 2/3 days in October and we are undecided between Langkawi or Tioman...has anyone been to both islands and knows which one would be nicer. We are after a beautiful beach and then some hiking through the forest.
I will be going to a convention at the National University Health System in Queenstown and I plan to extend my stay to take in the sights.
Finding hotels too expensive. Can anyone suggest a vacation rental/ serviced apartment near the university and also near the metro rail? I have an elderly companion who may not be able to tolerate long walks to the station.
I am planing on crossing into Indo from PNG in about a mont, so i was recommended to arrive to the border with a viva and not to do it when i get to Vanimo (PNG border city), which i will be doing next week in Wellingtone (NZ).
I am also planing on crossing by land into East Timor for 2-3 days, and i do know i will need a new visa to return to Indo.
Knowing that, i was thinking of asking for a double entry visa so i can cross back to Indo, but it is a very expensive one... (160NZ$) so i had an idea! flying from Dili to Bali (denpasar), and that way getting a VOA so i can keep traveling in Indo! but the only flights i can find are around 200$...
I did try the Merpati website, but i can't get flight details (or prices), so i wanted to know if anyone knows what is the price range for theses flights...
If anyone has any other good advice, don't keep it to yourself ;)

DUCK & HiPPO TOURS or FunVee TOURS which gives best deal and is good for sightseeing for 2 days.
3 of us started our vacaton there and returned for a few more days before leaving for home. We found the staff accommodating, helpful and hospitable. The location is convenient to everything for walkers and the pool and premesis are constantly kept clean. That's why we returned there and hope to again. Krys,Ed and Brenda(loved the ducks and overlooking the rice paddy)
