Ferry Travel from Cebu to Manila

Hi all,

My wife and I are planning a 21 Day trip to Philippines later this month. We want to go from Cebu to Manila and suicidal as it sounds, we are thinking of not taking any planes along the way (carbon emissions and all).

Anyway, after an exciting first round here. here and getting some superb information from asean2011 , we came up with a very rough itinerary.

Day 1 - Cebu (Buy ferry tickets to Dagamuente)
Day 2 - Early morning Ferry to Dagamuente, Go to valencia
Day 3 - Pulang Bato/Forest Camp (Night Back to Dagamuente to buy tickets for Bais City and Cebu)
Day 4 - Bais City for Whale/Dolphin watch
Day 5 - Back to Cebu. Take night ferry to Iloilo 12 hours (Cokaliong shipping/Trans asia from php750.)
Day 6 - Arrival Iloilo (Day R an R in Iloilo... more »

In Fernloft Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur, my golden necklace was stolen...

The day before the last day I departed from the hostel, I checked my necklace in my bag and it was in its box with silver souvenirs, when I've changed my city I realized it was stolen although silvers were still in the box and wrote to the hostel, they answered me that they were going to deal with it, but after 5 days they didn't answer. I just asked them to check the camera records in the corridors to find the guilty person, but although I wrote a second e-mail couldn't get any answer. My insurance didn't pay for it, because the event took place in my hostel and there were lockers. So if something bad happens no one helps you, you should care yourself and shouldn't trust their saying about security. Mind yourself and your belongings...

North Luzon Questions

I start out in Manila and I want to see Angeles, Banaue, Batad, Sagada, and Vigan before I head south.

From what I've read, this seems to be the route with the least effort - Manila-Banaue-Batad-Banaue-Buagio-Bontoc-Sagada - but that doesn't include Angeles and Vigan. What's the route with the most transportation options?

… a few more related questions:

2 - Would 7 days total be pushing it for mid-April travel? If so, would you recommend cutting out Vigan or Angeles? or both? I do want some time to relax and enjoy the scenery.

3 - Getting to Sagada from Banaue vs Buagio - do I have to go all the way to Buagio to find a ride? Banaue is so much closer..

4 - What are some of the best places along my route to do some moderate hiking? I haven't done very much research on trails in the area, so any information would be appreciated.

5 - I've read it can be hard to find ... more »

Getting in and out of NAIA Manila Airport on public transport

Before my recent trip to the Philippines, I wondered if it is possible to get in and out of Manila airport without using the taxis. Did quite a bit of search on the internet and found this: http://directionsonweb.blogspot.com/2011/04/naia-1-2-3-shuttle-bus-easy-way-to-get.html

So when I arrived in Manila 3 weeks ago, I decided to test it out:
1) Arrived at T1 16:00. Breezed through immigration and customs and out of the T1 building at 16:15.
2) On exiting the T1 building, you can see right infront of you a huge sign directing you (basically you turn right) to the shuttle bus waiting area.
3) Waited till 16:35 when a plain white mini bus with a sign on its windscreen that says "T1-T2-T3 Shuttle Service" came. Note the bus does not have the words "NAIA 1.2.3 DOMESTIC LOOP" printed on the side like what you see on the website picture.
4) Took about 5 minutes to load up everyone.

Malaysia and Indonesia in 5 weeks

Hello,

My husband and I have 5 weeks to spend in Malaysia and Indonesia
We would really appreciate any recs or suggested itineraries from more experienced travelers to the region.

We both dont like the party/night life scene too much, or big resorts, we dont surf or dive, and we are not into seeing animals too much.

We want to go to Penang for food, find a beautiful beach (with internet access:)), want to see cultural temples of Indonesia, and see volcanoes and hiking.

We want to stay on a budget, but wouldn't mind splurging for a few days- at any amazing suggestions.
We want to make the most of our trip and usually like to stay pretty active, but are looking for the perfect/affordable place to stay put for 7-10 days to relax. (our vacay from our vacation).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

21 Days to adventure travel...

Hi everyone,

I'm planning for my 21 days in the Philippines later this month, and am trying to come up with a sensible itinerary that will include as many of the sites I want to see as possible. I don't need any nightlife really, and want to be rested to see great natural beauty, above or below the sea. Do you think what I came up with is doable?

Day 1: arrive in Cebu after spending a day or two decompressing in Hong Kong from the long flight from the States. This will be on a Friday.
Day 2: Ferry to Bohol
Day 3: Bohol - tour Tarsiers Sanctuary/Chocolate Hills
Day 4: Bohol - tour Francisco Dagohoy Tavern
Day 5: Free day in Bohol (possibly go to Danao Advernture park, drive around Panglao, go snorkeling)
Day 6: Free day in Bohol
Day 7: Ferry from Jagna to Camiguin
Day 8: Free day in Camiguin
Day 9: Free day in Camiguin
Day 10: 7:30 flight on Mid Sea Express from Camiguin... more »

What's the weather like?

Hi

We head to Malaysia tomorrow for our 3 week honeymoon. The weather forecasts look pretty gloomy with a lot of cloud and rain over the next 7 days. Is anyone out there now who can give me a real time update on what the weather has been like recently? Is it raining and cloudy 'all' the time?!

We're heading to KL, Georgetown, Kuching, Melaka & the Perhentians.

Thanks and hoping for some sun!

Cameron Highlands - high season in April?

hi,
I am just reading my LP guide.
Quote: The Cameron Highlands are at their busiest during the school holidays in April, August and December.
Does anybody know when in April there are school holidays?
(so that I avoid that period)
thanks in advance for your answer!
