Kei/Banda islands by ship from Ambon
Hey All,
Just did a search to see if there is any new updated info on when the ship departs from Ambon etc etc. No success though !!
I was in these islands a couple of years back when one of the ships was in refit thus making the other one very busy.
Can somebody give me an update about ships to and from Banda and Kei?
I think its time for a return to visit people that i promised to return.....the plan would be Ambon to Banda by ship>spend a week > ship Banda to Kei > spend a week > then Kei to Ambon - by ship if possible.
I would like to do it all this time using the ship.
Any tips most welcome :}

Car rental in Bali
Getting ready to visit Bali again from April 13th and will focus on Ubud, East Bali, Central Mountains region and finish with Jimbaran. Upon arrival we have a transfer arranged from the airport to Ubud where we will spend 2 nights. Thereafter will be moving around the areas mentioned. I am still hesitating between hiring a car with driver who will have tos stop where we want along the road (photo rice terraces etcc) or renting a car which i will drive. Any advice and what is the cost difference. Just a normal jeep will do. Many thanks for your reply.

Itinerary advice needed - Bali and Nusa Tenggara, 2 week trip
Hi all,
My boyfriend and I are heading to Indonesia in September - 5-23 - and I'd really like some advice on our current plans/itinerary....
At the moment, we have got roughly two weeks to play around with; we are flying into Kuala Lumpur, and hoping to spend a couple of days there, then fly down to Indonesia on 8, coming back to KL on 22.
We've looked at all areas and really have our hearts set on Bali and Nusa Tenggara, as it fits the bill for what we would like from our holiday, which is mainly beaches, some nice culture, food and relaxing.
However, neither of us have been to Indonesia before, and we are struggling to get our heads around how long it will take to travel between places.
We would really like to spend a decent chunk of time in both Bali and Lombok, and possibly squeeze in one or two of the Gili islands aswell. We would also really like to see Flores, bu...

Bali transport airport to Ubud but stopping for contact lenses?
Hello,
Flying to Bali tomorrow and then heading to Ubud, but packing now and I don't have any contact lenses, nor my eyesight prescription! Will need to stop at Bali Galleria to get some contacts on the way to Ubud.
Would it be better to:
a) Get a taxi from the airport to Ubud via Bali Galleria and ask the driver to wait while I run in, get my eyes checked and get contacts, then on to Ubud
b) Leave luggage at the airport, get a taxi to Bali Galleria, get contacts, back to airport, then taxi to Ubud
c) Get a taxi to Bali Galleria, carry bags around Galleria while getting contacts, then get taxi to Ubud
Thanks for your advice.

Looking for advice on getting a Socio-Cultural Visa...
How is everyone doing?
My girlfriend and I have return flights to Manila with our eventual destination being back to Bali. However, we need to get socio-cultural visas before we arrive in Indonesia. We're trying to figure out the best way to go about it. Should we?
1) Try our luck with the Indonesia Embassy in Manila. This would be the easiest solution. But is it even possible? From what I've read, there are some issues getting a socio-cultural visa at this particular embassy. Attempts to contact the embassy have been ignored. Has anyone had any luck?
2) Fly to KL or Singapore, with the former being the more likely and cheaper option. We'd prefer to break up our travels in Manila but this might be easier and they seem to handle more volume of visa-run applicants. Flights are a bit more expensive because we have layovers.
3) Somewhere else? Any new solutions? Kota seems to...

Tour to Green Canyon/Pangandaran
Hello everybody!
I am looking for advice with regards to a trip to Pangandaran/Green Canyon.
I will be in Bandung and plan to travel o Yogyakarta afterwards.
I have two options:
1. Taking a tour from Bandung: it's 3 days, 2 nights, bus and meals included for 900,000 from Bandung and back with tour to Green Canyon and some other stuff in and around Pangandaran and then back to Bandung and take a train from Bandung to Yogyakarta then
2. Taking a bus from Bandung to Pangandaran, doing our own thing there.. getting guide to Green Canyon etc. and then a bus from Pangandaran to Yogyakarta...
Do you think it will be easy to do the second option and also not more expensive? Or do you think I should rather do the organized tour and then head further to Yogyakarta from Bandung?
Thanks very much!!

Changing Money and what to carry (Indonesia)
Would anyone know what what is the best way to change or get money in Indonesia.
First of all I'll be landing in Jakarta so would you be able to answer the questions below.
1 - Should I take US dollars and change them to Indonesian RP?,, Do I need to take US dollars at all?
2 - Is it best to use an ATM withdrawal in sums of Indonesian RP (I know there's large transaction costs).
3 - Should I obtain Indonesian RP before I go (I'm in Australia)?
4 - If I do get some Indonesian RP is it best to wait until I get away from the Airport as is the case in other countries.
Thanks so much.

Diving and accommodation in Bali? What else to do in Bali?
Hey everyone,
My friends and I will be in Bali for a week in early July before heading over to Lombok for another week.
We're all going to be getting our PADI before the trip and so we're wondering where its best to go diving and what else to do.
We're all very outdoorsy people and love volleyball and the beach!
Also, can anyone recommend any good (and cheap) accommodation in Bali? Is it best to book during that time of year or should we just get there and hope for the best?
Thanks!

Seasoned traveler couple on 3 week honeymoon. Where to go?
We are looking at indonesia for our honeymoon, we have 3-5 weeks to explore, i know this is a small amount of time to do indonesia, we are aware we will not be able to do it thouroughly, and this is our dilemma. We have done alot of backpacking, and are used to the standards of travel, long buses, cheap accommodation etc however, because it is our honeymoon, we will want to relax a certain amount and stay in a few nice places for a change, although bear in mind, if we have running water, clean sheets and no bugs we would consider that pretty nice! We will probably rock out a honeymoon suite for the first weekend, however, we are not the lay about by the pool types and will want to place our journey heavy on adventure and seeing things. Will probably fly in and fly out of jakarta. Our problem is deciding where to centre our journey, we are thinking probably we would like to stay around... more »

Looking for a bungalow in Bali Bukit Bingin Beach or Uluwatu
Hi! I'm super excited to spend June and July in Bali.
Last time I stayed at Bingin Beach, but I dont have the place's info. It was on the cliff overlooking the ocean. I payed $30/day. Looking for something similar, can pay up to $60/day if it's really nice.
I'd like to stay in the same area ( Bingin, Uluwatu, or surounding areas)
Thanks!

Family of 6-off to indonesia- continuation
Firstly, I would like to thank all those who have helped and guided me this far. I have been able to come up with a tentative itinerary, but would love some views, further guidance and advise from you experienced lot. Thank you in anticipation.
So far, the way my itinerary looks is something like this.
1 night in jakarta (upon arrival) Proceed to Jogja for 3 nights. Onwards to Bromo for 2 nights. The next 3 nights are open and i think proceeding to bali (but where?) would be appropriate as our hotel in ubud is already booked for 4 nights after the 3 nights (proposing bali, but am open). We are staying at Lusak Ubud Villas in a 2 bedroom villa. The following 3 nights are open as well and lombok or gimboran come to mind. Wherever we stay we need to be in closer proximity to an airport as we would need to fly out from there to jakarta. The last 3 nights are devoted to Jakarta. In jaka...
