Online ticketing
I have a one way ticket into Bangkok but China Airlines informed me that I need to either have a return ticket or an onward ticket to pass through immigration. I know many people are fine with a one way ticket into Thailand, but I don't want to risk it. I know most people buy their bus/train/ferry tickets while in Asia the day of or a few days before they plan to depart, but because I need to show proof of exit, I need something far in advance. Does anyone know of any Thai or Malaysian websites that sell bus or train tickets? I plan to move downward into Malaysia from Thailand just before my 30 day visa expires...
I will be in Koh Samui for a month and am searching for an inexpensive exit ticket from Thailand. Flights are easy but too expensive.
Any ideas??

Problem buying airline tickets online - amount charged 100x real amount!
I have just tried to buy domestic flight tickets online at Airasia, Garuda and Lion Air airline websites using a European (Spanish) Visa or Mastercard credit card and have encountered the same problem with all of them. When I try to buy a ticket online and try to make the payment, the cost indicated in the message I receive from Verified by Visa to confirm payment with my credit card is always 100 times the actual cost in rupiah !!! If the cost of the flight is let's say 500,000 Indonesian rupiah, the charge I receive to my Visa is 50,000,000 rupiah. It is as if the cost in rupiah would contain a decimal fraction, i.e. 500,000.00, which is converted to extra zeros in the amount in rupiah when the Visa transaction is made, even if the amount shown in the website doesn't contain any decimal fraction.
I was very much surprised the first time I was faced with this problem a few days ag...

Itinerary for Philippines, June 2013
Going over in June this year, for 3 weeks would like to see the sights, beaches, whale sharks and do some trekking... Has anyone got an itinerary that they would recommend including all of these?
We have also heard to avoid Luzon in June, is this correct? Due to weather! Does anyone have an idea on the weather, as some websites say rain? Partly cloudy? And others say sunny?
How have people found the Philippines in regards to accommodation and food? There is 2 of us going and we have budgeted £800 for the both of us, will this be enough for 3 weeks?
Thank you

Hello inquiring about travel from Denpasar airport to Ubud at night? My flt arrives at 1am and traveling initially on my own. Wondering if the taxi are reliable or if there is good public transit? Suggestions welcome! Thank you.
Religion project
Hello,
I’m going to travel to Southeast Asia for 6 months. Besides travelling around the countries, I have committed myself to a project. I want to write a book about two people who have changed the whole region with their worldviews, without ever being in the countries themselves. These two people are Muhammad and Buddha. I want to learn how Islam and Buddhism affects the daily lives of the inhabitants of Southeast Asia, and what a secular society could learn from the benefits these religions bring.
Therefore, I need some help to know which places I have to visit and what people I have to talk to. I will be travelling through Malaysian Borneo (September), Indonesia (October, November), Thailand (December, February) and Cambodia (January).
Can anyone give me some useful information?
Thanks in advance

One Month in Indonesia (Newbie) on a budget
Hi All,
I am completely new to this forum and was hoping for some advice if possible? I am going to be taking approximately £1500 with me. Is this a feasible amount to be taking abroad with me or should I reconsider my plans completely?
I am hoping to head to Indonesia for a month from mid August 2013. The main things I am hoping to do are:
Visit the national park in Bukit Lawang (Sumatra) to see the Orangutans and Elephants
Visit Borobudor
Visit Mount Bromo
Visit Lake Toba
I have heard many conflicting things about how expensive accomodation etc will be and I just really confused whether I have really under budgeted.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated and any suggestions on other places to visit while out there would also be brilliant!
Thank you very much

Recommendation for budget accommodation in Jakarta near Gambir
Does anyone have any recommendations for budget accommodation in Jakarta for just one night? We've looked on wikitravel and the Lonely Planet, but the info seems to be pretty outdated. We'd like somewhere cheap and without bedbugs, preferably near the main bus station Gambir. Thanks in advance for your replies!

Notes on Rajah Empat for travelers.
I have promised to write this article for a while now and have some spare time. It is directed solely to travelers who have reasonable time and budget. It goes with my previous post about Sorong the usual access point, though one can arrive from Northern Makalu, Seram or even Fak Fak in New Guinea. I am not addressing the package kind of tours on the live in luxury Pinici type schooners of which there are 35 operating out of Sorong in season with a capacity of up to 20 people or the upmarket resorts on some islands. I am not recommending particular places to stay nor islands to visit. My notes are only first hand and not copied from elsewhere.
There are 4 main islands. Waigeo, Batanta, Salawati and Misool. I have visited them all. Most people start in Waigeo. The capital Waisai is often marked on maps in the wrong place. Doubles rooms cost from 150,000R and almost everything is av...

Diving in Bali and other things..
Hi everyone!
We will be in Bali from the 26th to the 4th of July, we're staying in Seminyak and as we have our baby (15months) with us, thought it best to do some ground work before we leave.
1. What's the closest place to Seminyak to dive? We are certified divers.
2. Places to eat at?
3. Child friendly open bars near the beach?
4. What kind of weather can we expect?
Thank you so much!
Jo

Surat Jalan in Sentani for UK Tourists
Hi,
We are heading to Sentani in a couple of weeks to see the Lake festival and don't intend to travel into Jayapura. From there we are flying to Wamena for some trekking in the Baliem Valley.
We have just discovered there has been some diplomatic unrest between the UK and Indonesian governments regarding the opening of a Free Papua office in Oxford.
Have any UK citizens travelled recently to West Papua and had any problems obtaining their Surat Jalan?
After reading many reports, we have some confusion about where best to obtain our Surat Jalan. Are we best trying for it in Sentani (as we are not going into Jayapura) , or is it best to travel to Wamena and try for it there.
Thanks

SIN Airport Advice
I am catching Air Asia flight from Malaysia to Japan with a layover in Singapore. The flight lands in Singapore at 9 pm and my flight from Singapore to Japan doesn't leave until 5:24 am.
My question is does the Singapore airport stay open all night or does it close at a certain time?
And do Americans need a visa and if so does anyone know how much the visa costs and will I be able to get it at the airport?
day in Singapore
I arrive at Singapore's Changi airport at 6am. I then have to meet my visa agent in/near the city at 8am. He will return my visa/passport at 4.30pm same day, then I fly out again at 9pm. Whilst I enjoy walking/touring around Singapore, I do like to have a base to rest up. So does anyone know of reasonably priced rooms available near the city, such as transit rooms. I don't need an hourly rate type which are especially for those who are there for sex; perhaps a room I can book from 8am-5pm.
