We are going to Penang ( Chinatown area ) and Langkawi ( Pantai Cenang ) and need the address of a laundry in each place.
Also we need a tailor in Penang too.
Cheers and thanks for your help.
Would really appreciate some Borneo advice please,
We fly in to Sandakan next week, and we don't have a flight booked out of Borneo yet so can stay a couple of weeks,
We would appreciate some advice on any suggestions of where to do go and what to see, we'd like to see some wildlife (including doing an overnight safari type tour (can anyone recommend the best place or company to use) we'd also like to do a river tour (can this be built into the above) is Sandakan a good base for this, or should we go elsewhere? Also how long is it worth spending in Sandakan? We'd like to visit the Sepilok orangutan sanctuary but I gather you can do this on the bus from Sandakan?
We'd also like to climb KK but didn't realise we needed to book this so far in advance. The lodge is saying there is no accomodation! Does anyone know of any tour companies worth approaching with a reasonable price ... more »

We plan on spending a week the first part of May on some east coast beach before heading to Thailand and home. Since we have to make a flight out of Bangkok we don't want to get stuck on an island and can't get off due to weather being bad. Yep it has happened before. Haven't been able to find any info on mainland beaches, any suggestions on places to go? We are thinking the weather will be nicer on the east side of Malaysia than the western side.
I'm trying to book a simple chalet w/bathroom (fan OK) at a nice beach with a restaurant nearby for <RM 100 on either Perhentian Besar or Kecil for the end of April, but so far everything seems to be booked up solid or folks aren't responding to emails! Does anybody have any recommendations or contact information for places? I'm traveling with my 2-year-old so want to make sure we have a reservation before arriving. I had no idea April would be so busy!
I will be in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore for 5 days. I am debating whether to spend 3 days in Singapore and 2 days in KL or 2 days in Singapore and 3 days in KL. What do you suggest?
I just bought a flight into Kuala Lumpur for the last week of August. I'd like to spend 4 or 5 days on one of the main islands on the east coast (Tioman, Redang or the Perhentians). I know there are different reasons for choosing each of them (I've found a lot of good information on TT and on the Internet), but I'm curious specifically about the diving. I've got my PADI Advanced Open Water with 30-something dives, so I'm looking for diving spots that are relatively calm. I'll probably only do 2 or 3 days of 2 fun-dives a day.
At that time of year:
1) Which island usually has the best visibility?
2) Is there much difference in the cost for a 2-dive trip (I also need to rent full equipment)?
3) How does the diving off the east coast compare to Ko Tao in Thailand? I dove there about 5 years ago, and although I really enjoyed the island and had a great time, I don't remember the ... more »
I have 5 day stopover in KL. Any suggestions on reasonably priced quaint hotels and any "must see/must do" things I should put on my list. Am travelling solo and not really into partying.
- are the beaches equally beautiful on both islands?
- is it common that hotel asks to pay in advance (by bank) also ferry ticket? Or is it better to pay the ticket directly on the spot?
There will be a protest march on the 28th April 2012, in Kuala Lumpur city centre. The organiser of the rally is called BERSIH, an NGO that advocates for free and fair elections. To read more about BERSIH, check their official website
I was personally there at Bersih 2.0, and thought this may be helpful.
1. If possible, do not stay in Kuala Lumpur city centre. Most roads will be blocked, shops will be closed and the city will be on a stand still. We encourage you to head over to enjoy the other parts of Malaysia. Here are some places you can go, within the vicinity of Kuala Lumpur.
Putrajaya (45 minutes)
Forest Reserve Insitute Malaysia (FRIM) (45 minutes)
Kuala Selangor Nature Park (1 hour)
Sungai Kampar White Water Rafting (2 hours)
Melaka (2.5 hours)
Ipoh (2.5 hours)
2. If you will be in the city, carry a water bottle and towel with you.

What is the best way to come to Perhentian Besar from Tanah Rata?
The last ferry is at 4 pm.... will I make it in time?
If not - do you advice any accomodation at Kuala Besut for 1 night?
Thank you -- all travellers - for always kind help. I really appretiate it!
I spent last weekend in Phnom Phen, and I'm keen to check Cambodia a bit closer. One of the guys I was traveling with floated the idea of buying motorbikes in Cambodia and doing an Epic Road Trip (ERT) all the way home to KL, over the course of a few weeks.
Other than the obvious chances of dying, my logistical concern surrounds re-entering Malaysia.
I've read a couple of posts about traveling from Cambodia into Thailand, which sounds possible without too much drama (please don't hesitate to correct me), and we may even get through Thailand on the original Cambodian rego plates. But living in KL I see regular roadblocks with the plod checking out registrations. If this results in a 40MYR fine, as listed on the JPJ website, I'm not too worried. But if it results in bikes being confiscated, that'd be a real downer.
So to summarise, has anyone done this? The main benefit ... more »
