I have booked a flight to Kuala Lumpur from Belfast via London Heathrow.
My flight is with BMI which code shares with Malaysia airlines, so in effect my flight to Kuala Lumpur will be on a Malaysian airlines plane.
There are five of us travelling.(Myself, my wife and three kids). Normally I ring up the airline and ask for seats together. However Malaysia airlines can't do this for me as the flight is through one of their codeshare partners. The booking reference is a BMi one, co I can't avail of reserving seats on Malaysia Airlines seat select facility on their website .
Has anyone any experience of flying MAS via BMI or one of their codeshare partners. If so, can you do an online checkin with the codeshare partner.
Just wondering if anyone travelling with a family has encountered a similar situation.

a friend of mine in Malaysia found a Camera most likely owned by a french lady because the camera's instruction is in French.
Here's what's written on my friend's facebook note, together with the picture that he uploaded from the lost
camera in order to help the person who lost the camera to identify it.
"Everybody! help me out to spread this photo in search for the owner of a camera which we have found in Malacca, on the Jonker's a few days ago. I'm hoping to return the camera to her, even though it seems that it is unlikely to happen but i guess it won't harm to try at least.
picture can be seen on my facebook wall. I don't know how to link it, if you know how..let me know and I'll edit this thread later more »
Hi, I'm going to the Rainforest Music Festival in Sarawak this year and still need to book accommodation so any recommendations welcome (I know I must get my skates on). However, I really want to cover some other stuff while I'm there, visit the orang utan centre, stay in a longhouse, maybe visit the national park. Only five days at present. Also, I'm going on my own and would love to meet up with like-minded people, any one else going solo and keen to share accommodation, activities or just hang out at the festival? All advice gratefully received.
I'm currently on Penang and desperately need to buy some new trainers. I left mine on a boat in Thailand and now I'm down to an old pair of sandals. I'm here for another 3 nights before moving on to the Highlands so I'd like to buy them here if possible. Can anyone recommend a place to buy a cheap pair of Nikes, Reeboks or Adidas trainers on Penang? Thanks!!
Going to Kota Kinabalu and was wondering where the best loacation is for being near a beach but also near some food places/shops to. I been in Malaysia a while now and dont like to pay much more than 50rm a night

I'm arriving at Sandakan airport at 8.30 at night from KL.
Are there coupon taxis at Sandakan airport?
Will they take me to Sepilok, where I have a hotel reservation, and does anyone know how much it will cost?
The hotel I have booked offers a pick up service, but it seems quite expensive.
I'm going to look for Proboscis Monkeys, and Oran Utans.
Any suggestions of other things to do in the area?
Hi there, I am currently in the Perhentian Islands and I am looking to travel up to Phuket in the next 2-3 days and I am looking to find out the best possible way to get from here to there.
I had read that the border crossing between Malaysia and Thailand on the eastern side is not the safest, is this still the case? Can anyone advice me on the best/safest/quickest route.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Just wondered if anyone could help me choose which train I need to get...
We're currently on the Perhentian Islands and leave next Monday.I'm trying to book rail tickets online,as there were no seats available last week, when we were leaving KL.
Ideally we would like to travel the whole way to Singapore by train, but I can't see which train I need to book on the Malaysian railway site.I have also looked at Seat61 site, but again,I can't see if I need to get to Kuala Lipis or Tanah Merah, and what time the train leaves at.
We have asked at our hotel, but the advice was to leave here, get a 1 hour taxi to Tanah Merah, then just buy our tickets there, but we're a little reluctant to do that,as we had no luck in KL Sentral last week....
I'll be flying from Kota Bharu to Kuala Lumpur and then down to Singapore on a Friday, to catch my Saturday flight to London (at 9am). I wanted to book the 18:55 flight from Kota Bharu and then the 22:40 flight from Kuala Lumpur but I'm really stressed that if by any chance the flight from KB gets cancelled, I won't make it for Singapore by bus or by car, it will be too late. There are 2 more flights from KB on that evening, but it's Friday 31 August, holiday time and I don't know if there will be any seats available.
Am I right to be cautious? Do AirAsia cancel their internal flights at short notice? If I miss my flight from KL or if it gets cancelled, there are buses/taxis and 12 hrs and I'll be OK, but the distance from KB to KL really worries me.
On the other hand- I don't want to spend my last day in the airports, my hols are so short and I want to get most of it!
Thanks f... more »
we'll be visiting Kinabatangan River the 17th of August.
Next day (18th of August) our tour will drop us at Sukau Junction at 9.30-9.45. We then want to move to Semporna by bus and try to be there by 2-3 pm.
What are the options?
Is there any bus from Sukau to Semporna or should we get to Lahad Datu first? We found Dyana Express but couldn't find the schedule.
I also heard the 18th is public holiday, so we'd like to book as soon as possibile, how can i do it?
How have you gone about booking air tickets for within Borneo once actually there? Internet/ travel agent/ airline at airport? How was your experience? I am thinking of these possibilities as i am still working on an itinerary: Kuching - Miri Miri- Bario maybe Kuching -KK
Does anybody what the latest tourist visa requirements are for Malaysia?
The website of the malaysian embassy of my country doesn't work well so that's why I can not get this info.
The main question for me is: do I need to show an onward flight ticket to any other destination? Or can it also be a train/ bus ticket?
Now I am in Thailand and before I went there I booked a flight ticket to Malaysia to show the douane in Thailand that I for sure was going to leave Thailand within that month. But in fact they didn't check at all if I had any onward ticket.
I don't know much about Malaysia and can not tell if i'll will like it or how long I want to stay. That's why I do not want to be stuck on a pre booked flight ticket.
I am from the netherlands.
Thanks for your help!
Hi We are in Eastern Malaysia coast and heard today that the border between Malaysia/Thailand-- Koto Buhur (Sorry spelling is off) is closed. Is this fact or fiction? We are needing to be in BKK by the 9th and can't have a turn around if it is closed. How safe is this region lately? Been away from the news for awhile.
Thanks for the update to ever knows.
