i'm planning to go to bali in march, mainly the second week (and unfortunately only for a week).
what do u think about the weather?
will we risk to get a lot of rain?
we r very afraid...
on net we found very different opinions... many say that this is the rainy season... other, ho live there, affirme that instead the weather is not that bad...
i d like to know your opinion
thanks in advance
Hello peoples, I decided to use up a couple of weeks worth of vacation and check out Indonesia. Looking through various websites and wikis, I would like to check out (if possible) South Lombok, The Gilis, Flores, Komodo Park (or one of the islands there) and finally Ubud. I will be flying in and out of Depensar. Stop laughing, seriously, i would like to see all that, or most of it, in 2 weeks.
Question: is this itinerary doable and if it is, what order would you hit those places? I know it is a lot of ground to cover but I will be traveling solo and I usually dont stay in the same place more than 1 night when i am solo. I am fine with boats, slow or fast, or flying if absolutely necessary. If its not doable, then i can take out 1 or 2 or even most of those destinations, and concentrate my time in one area as long as i am not too sedentary- i tend to get very bored, very quickly and... more »
Any recommendations on how to spend New Year's Eve in East Timor? I'm an hour away from Dili and was hoping for something a little different than the usual bars on the beachfront.
Considering a trip to Jaco Island with a friend, however with a lack of events or accommodation that far out east.. it seems unlikely we will go.
Many thanks (:
Judging from THIS map the south of Bohol seems affected by the tropical storm as well.
I'm traveling from Tagbilaran to Jagna to take the ferry to Camiguin in January.
Does anybody know if the road has been affected and if this route is still possible?
As far as I can read so far my other destinations Apo, Siquijor and Camiguin do not seem to have been affected.
Anybody that knows something about the situations there please let me know.
thanks in advance
Does anybody know how the situation is on Negros after the tropical storm?
Is it still possible to travel from Sipalay to Malatapay by bus?
According to THIS map Siaton is an affected area and I was wondering if the roads are still ok and if busses are still running?
I'll be travveling there mid january.
Any information or update will be highly appreciated.
can you recomend a nice resort in El Nido if travelers are on budget?Maybe beach front if posible?
Rooms for a couple would be nice, with own bathroom.
Having just stayed on Mabul Island, Borneo and experiencing numerous dives in Sipadan I decided to write this review for others who are considering doing the same...
We booked 8 days at the famous Uncle Changs backpackers resort on Mabul Island inorder to do some diving in one of the best dive sites in the world, Sipadan. Upon arrival I was quite disappointed at the initial look of the resort. As it is very hard to find out any information about the lodging itself, I was expecting a lot more than the rickety looking bare beaten old bungalows they provide for 100 MR (approximately $30) per night. They did however allow us to upgrade to a much nicer chalet for free for our first 5 nights as it was unoccupied for that duration, which was also a home for several huge cockroaches and a few fairly large rats. The free meals which are included in the price are basically the same everyday ... more »
I am based in Singapore and am thinking of a 3/4 day jaunt to Java to climb Gunung Merbabu with a friend.
How many days/nights do I need to set aside for the ascent? I was thinking of arriving on Weds AM in Yogyakarta and heading straight to Salatiga/Kopeng and organising a guide. Anyone have any recommendations for guides or hotels in the area? How much do you think I ought to pay for a guide/the ascent?
If I could get up the volcano on the Weds night that would be marvellous, and then scamper to the bottom on the Thursdays so we can enjoy a day and a half in Yogya before flying back on Sat AM? Is this doable? Also, how much would a cab from Yogyakarta airport to Kopeng/Salatiga cost?
Thanks to posters who helped me with Part 1 on West Java. Here's part 2 of my query, on Central Java. For background, I'll be travelling in a group of 10, moving from Bandung and eventually (hopefully), ending in Bali.
My family was here two years ago so this part of the trip is mainly for the benefit of my parents and my sis, so I’m planning to stick to the major tourist sites only.
How’s this for an itinerary?
Day 1: Arrive Magelang (from Bandung, taking the northern route via Cirebon and Pekalongan). Overnight.
Day 2: Sunrise tour of Borobodur, then Ketep Pass for views of Merapi, then on to Jogja, city tour, overnight.
Day 3: Free day in Jogja. Maybe a day trip to Solo, with Prambanan temple enroute.
Day 4: Early morning departure to East Java (Surabaya or Malang).
I missed visiting Ketep Pass the last time, but I’m not sure what’s the situation there now after th... more »
Hey so for new years I was thinking of going to gili t
So I went to a travel consultant person and he told me that it would be impossible to go now because people book reservations for new years months in advance.
Then this guy at my hostel told me that there are millions of places and it shouldn't be a problem....
Obviously it's going to be busy due to the holidays but do you think it's wise going there without a reservation ?
Also due to the fact that there are Only single rooms is it going to be hard meeting people?
we might be in kota kinabalu and we d love to visit brunei, do you know if there is any connection via land between these two places?
do you know if, via land, we can easily enter to brunei and then proceed our trip south inbound kuching, always via and?
we'll go to brunei at the end of february and we have two free weeks that we'd love to spend in sabah and sarawak.
our departing spot will be brunei.
we would love to visit everything we can (beaches and jungles and cities) from kuching to sandakan or viceversa
of course i m talking about only the northern coast and from there take a flight to KL (where we have our flight back to italy).
my question is: can we manage in two weeks to visit the area?
which itinerary do you suggest?
consider that we d depart via land from bandan seni begawan.
Hello everyone. I will be traveling for 2 months to the Philippines. I will be mostly in Quezon City. It will be my first time there and I don't know of any good hotels. Can anyone please recommend something, affordable but mostly CLEAN.
I'm planning a trip to Indonesia in January in which I'm planning to fly from Pedang to Lombok via Jakarta. I'm on a tight schedule and am considering a couple of flight options, one of which has a layover in Jakarta of only an hour. Of course, both flight legs would be domestic within Indonesia, but I would be switching from one carrier (Lion Air) to another (Garuda), most likely.
A longer layover would feel safer to me, but it would be less convenient in terms of affecting further travel. Of course, if I ended up missing the second flight because of the short layover that would be even more inconvenient! Does anyone have experience with this kind of think at the Jakarta airport?
Thanks for your help!
I'm planning a trip to Indonesia in January and am having a little trouble with a transport question. My goal is to get from Padang, Sumatra to Gili Trawangan within one day. There are flight options from Padang via Jakarta that would get me in to the new Lombok airport at either 2:20pm (more expensive flight) or 3:15pm (cheaper flight). I got advice from my hotel on Gili T that I could still make it in one afternoon if I was on the earlier flight, since public boats run till 5 and there is also a "shuttle" boat around 6pm (costing 30,000 idr). However, in other places I've read that the boats don't actually run that late, and past 4pm or so I'll be at the mercy of touts and will need to charter a much more expensive boat.
Does anyone have experience with late afternoon transfers to Gili T, especially from the new, farther-away airport? I am meeting friends on Gili T, but will be ... more »
