Ecuador to Cuzco by bus?
Hey!
Two girlfriends and me are traveling in South America this summer, and I've been given the task of finding out how to get from Ecuador to Cuzco by bus. We were thinking about using a couple of days (maximum 4) on the journey, but I'm having trouble finding a good route. Any suggestions?
We'd love to stop in a village or two on the way if possible. If anyone knows about a website for a good bus company or has any tips, I'd be deeply greatful!

How is Tayrona now?
Hi just wondering if anyone has been to Tayrona recently, is it very busy now?
The guidebook says that it can be overcrowded, but is that mainly over christmas and easter?
We are planning to go there tomorrow but would consider palomino instead if Tayrona is full.
We are thinking about staying at Dom Pedro campsite, any advice?
Also our doctor advised that we take malaria pills but based on online research it seems that there is no risk in Tayrona?
Thanks very much!!

Gay Buenos Aires Guides
I always had a problem advising gay travellers what's one and what's new on the gay Buenos Aires scene. Gay clubs and gay nights come and go and all the websites apart from one are really out of date with poor information and list both gay bars and gay clubs that have long gone.
I found myself going to bars that no longer were open when I first arrived and caution people about information on most sites apart from the informational resources I will list below.
Gay Buenos Aires Stay Guides is updated almost weekly it seems and has current information, listings and reviews on gay bars and clubs that are open. Easy to read and fun, this guide is written by a gay expat and you can both email and call for no obligation advice. I have tried this and they are very helpful.

Backpacking through the Amazon-Brazil
I am planning a backpacking trip through SA, and my time through Brazil seems to be leaving me with the most questions. I will be entering Brazil from Bolivia and making my way to French Guiana. Does anyone have advice on getting from Rio Branco or Porto Velho to Manaus or Santarém? Are there areas along the way where I can hang a hammock or pitch a tent? Can I try to do this even if not in a "designated" area? How about hitch hiking or river boats? Any insight is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Malaria injections
Heading to Bogota, Cartagena and Medellin in August.
Coming from Australia I am aware we need a yellow fever certificate, but would it be advisable to obtain Malaria shots before travel?

rio to lencoiss
Is it possible to get from Rio to Lencois in one day? I realize I will have to fly into Salvador first, but will I be able to connect to a flight or a bus to Lencois immediately and arrive the same day? I can't seem to find reliable information about flights to Lencois (if these operate at all).
I plan to stay in Salvador for four or five days after doing Chapada Diamantina and, to optimize my travel schedule, would rather not have to stay there overnight on my way to Lencois.
Thanks for any help.

Young traveler with itchy feet..need ideas on trip!
Thanks for joining me here! I just recently returned from the Peace Corps where I had the luxury to travel all over Europe as I served in Eastern Europe. Now that I have my feet firmly planted back in the US, working a 9-5 in D.C., I'm starting to get itchy feet!
I am planning a 2 week trip around Christmas. Hoping to spend 800 on a roundtrip ticket somewhere. I love backpacking, want to avoid major tourist traps (I HATE resorts), and love areas rich with nature, culture, and history. Thinking somewhere in South or Central America (warmth!) although my boyfriend is pushing for Russia. We are probably not wanting Europe. Any ideas?

Ecuador & the Galapagos Islands
Galapagos in January
I realise that this is a common topic on here, but I can't seem to find any information about booking a cruise for Galapagos at the last minute for the end of Dec or the start of January. I realise that this is likely the high season given the holidays so was wondering if anyone has experience of a last minute booking during this period? We are looking for either a 5 or an 8 day cruise departing sometime between 29 Dec - 5 Jan. Would prefer to pay a little more for a better boat rather than going completely budget but we are reasonably flexible.
Does anyone have any experience of last minute bookings from Ecuador at this time? We are 2 people in our early 30s.
Thanks,
E

Traveling from El Chalten to Coyhaique in Oktober
The cruise between Puerto Montt and Puerto Natales is cancelled and because of that we changed our schedule.
We 'll be flying to Punta Arenas and travelling North using the Ruta 40.
We would like to visit Glaciar San Rafael, but it seems difficult to get to Puerto Rio Tranquilo or Coyhaique from El Chalten.
Has anybody done the same trip and can give us 'tips and tricks' ?
Thanks in advance,

Ayahuasca in Zona Cafetera
Hello,
I just heard from friends that visited Salento that Salento like Iquitos, Peru is a place where they offer ayahuasca ceremonies, ect. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. By experience I don´t mean necessarily participating in taking ayahuasca in a ceremony but talking to locals, shamans, or the people offering this type of thing.
In Iquitos I had wonderful experiences with travelers and locals just talking about ayahuasca and learned a lot of really interesting history through just the people that were around. I´m wondering if it is like this in Salento.
Thanks!

Buying a car in Bogota for trip to Buenos Aires
Hi,
We're planning a road trip from Bogotá to Buenos Aires starting 26 July and want to buy a car for this. If you have a second hand car available in Bogotá, or know of travellers who want to sell their car late July, we would be very grateful if you could let us know. Any other tips about buying an affordable second hand car in Bogotá are greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

La Paz to Salt Flats
Hey, I am currently in La Paz and looking to book tour to the salt flats leaving Monday. Anyone wanna meet up to take the bus down to Uyuni? Also considering booking tour from Tapiza since I've read better reviews but it's longer to get there.
Let me know!

20 days from Bogota) in August where to go?
Hi all - I am currently working in Colombia (Bogota and Antioquia) and will have 20 days in August to travel at the end of my contract. Its just so hard to narrow down where to go!!
I was thinking of some elements of the following:
Equador - Sierras (maybe horse riding?) or Amazon
Venezuela - Los Roques (diving)
Panama?
But really I'm searching a bit blind. I love adventure, but I don't want to be doing 20 hr bus journeys every other day. I'm not interested in partying, more seeing nature/culture etc.
What would you suggest?
Thanks!
