Trip to Montevideo

I am planning a trip to Montevideo in February/March. I love different and off the beaten track places. Do you have any suggestions of what to do (and what not to do) in Montevideo? Also any suggestions for places I should visit near Montevideo? All tips are really welcome. Thanks!

Book a flight form Caracas to Ciudad Bolivar directly at the airport

Hi there

There are a lot of questions around this topic, but none really answers the question:
Can you just go to the airport and buy a flight ticket for the same day? Or do I need to book in advance? I arrive by bus at 8 AM from Columbia. I don't wanna book online, by credit card, because of the bad exchange rate (if booking online is even possible)

Thanks for your help

Cheers,
Michael

Planning a trip to Ecuador -looking for Charter flights Cheap Tickets

HI !
Next year end of 2013, I plan on going to Ecuador - either Guayaquil or QUito and then fly in to Cuenca .
I can travel from Montreal, Qc , Burlington Vt, or Fll,Fla, Mia ,Fla.
I am looking for a Charter flight out of the USA if possible or cheap way to get there . Any suggestions would be welcome.

I will spend times in Salinas - then on to Cuenca , will end in Quito but if you can suggest better itinerary let me know.
Is Bus service there as efficient as in other South American Ciountries ?
Do you recommend flying in/out of those cities ?
Best airlines-cheapest rates ?

Also what should I expect to pay for decent meals at dinner time for 2 - including 1botlle of Chilean-Argentinian red Wines

Thanks for any comments-help - suggestion !

Trip to Argentina - suggestions requested

I am planning to visit Buenos Aires for a week in February/March 2013. Thereafter I plan to go to Montevideo. I have a few questions:
1. Can you suggest any 'away from it all' relaxing places between BA and Montevideo or near BA or Montevideo? Preferably on the coast, but it doesn't have to be.
2. How should I best travel from BA to Montevideo?
3. I love off the beaten track - any suggestions for what to see and/or do in BA and Montevideo?
Thanks for any suggestions!

Looking for good travel agent

I will be traveling to Brazil in Feb. I know it is high season. Would like to find a good travel agent to help with lodging in Rio for a few days during Carnival and assistance with other accomodations after that. Plan to travel up the coast and then on to Manus for a river trip. I know it is late for Rio but hoping for a few nights there before moving on. Can anyone recommend an agent they have worked with?

How to enjoy my husband's business trip to Salvador, Bahia?

Hi everyone! I have been researching my upcoming trip to Salvador on this forum, and finding tons of great advice. I have some questions about the conference center area and public transportation in Bahia. I am accompanying my husband on a business trip to Salvador, Bahia.

Please keep in mind that we are peso-earning Argentinians, and have almost zero access to reales, so we need to be as thrifty as possible, taking public transit, eating street food, ect.

We will be in Salvador for 10 days, the company has booked us a room at the Bahia Fiesta Hotel, on Avenida Antonio Carlos Magalhaes 711, near the conference center. The hotel looks very far away from Pelourinho and other historical areas or beach areas that I would like to visit. What would be the best way to travel from the hotel to these areas? Is there any public transportation?

I am most interested in learning... more »

Is it impossible to exchange my surplus Argie pesos to chilean pesos

Hello dear forum,

Question for all of you the savvy and experienced members.

Iam about to set up a Xoom account to send USD into BsAs before my trip to BsAs
then withdraw in Argetinean Pesos while there. This is the best and safest method of
getting the USD into Argentinean Pesos, I have been advised by many at BA expats forum
instead of bringing USD phisically with me and then converting it at the Cambio Houses.

They said that the Xoom services now days will give your Pesos at almost or close to Dollar Blue
rate as if you were exchanging it at the streets such as on Florida using the Arbolitos. Minus the
probable danger of being robbed or being given fake Pesos.

But if Iam not becareful of calculating as to how much Pesos I will need to stay while there.I will have much unused
Pesos leftover and I don't have a clue as to how much Argie Pesos I would be using while... more »

Where to meet in Quito Airport??

Hi,
So, this is my first trip to Ecuador, and I am flying into UIO late night, I am meeting a friend who is flying in on a different airline a few hours after me, from there we will be bussing it to a hostel together. Any tips on the best places to meet in the airport? I won't have a phone, and since I've never been to this airport, have no idea where we should try to meet. Any suggestions would be SOOO appreciated!!
Thanks :)

It's been a couple of years since I have been Santiago and so far Red bank network connection has been charging me about $7 U.S. to get money out of my bank in the U.S. Does anyone know which bank in Santiago charges the least in ATM fees for foreign withdrawals?

Getting in

Hi,
I intend to travel through the americas, and I will take Buenos Aires as a starting point. So I will fly to Buenos Aires, but I've been wondering if it'll be a problem if I have no proof that I will also get out of the country at some point. A retour ticket, for instance, implies going out of the country at a certain date, but obviously, I won't have one of those.

Is there anyone here with experience about flying into Argentina on a single trip. Could there be problems with me not being able to show some proof of leaving the country?
