Pink dolphins Manaus ?
Hello from Australia
We are traveling to Manaus in August and I would like to see pink dolphins. Can anyone recommend a tour company? One quoted $200 USD pp for the day, which seemed a lot, but another quoted $100USD ($R195) , but it looked a bit dubious.
(I am particularly hoping that Wendy79 might see this question, since personal messaging seems disabled).
Thanks
Craig

which festival to plan for
I am in the process of planning for a trip to Brazil (and Bolivia) in the first quarter of 2014 and am thinking that i should include at least one festival to plan my itinerary around. As the places I am set on visiting include Rio and Salvador, the festivals I am seriously considering are Carnival (in either city), Reveillon (New Year's Eve) in Rio, and the Bonfim festival in Salvador. As my total trip will not exceed five weeks, obviously I cannot rope in all of these, and in any case I would not want my trip to be too festival-oriented.
Any recommendation or other feedback about any of these options (or others) would be much appreciated. I am a senior traveller and so would not be party-oriented, but I always love the color and crowd spirits of festivals. Thanks for any advice.

Chapada Diamantina - itinerary and recommendations
Myself and another trekker are taking a 2-3 days off the standard coastal jaunt around Bahia (Salvador, Morro, Boipeda, Itacare, Ilheus) to visit the Chapada.
As we have limited time, we will probably fly into Lencois and bus out.
After climbing Inacio, we'd like to do a few treks and visit the best sights possible.
Any recommendations for guides and places to see/stay?
We are 2 guys in thirties, on a moderate budget, visiting in October.
Obrigadao!

Bonito
Hi Guys,
We are planning to visit bonito for a few days (3 days).
Is it worth doing the http://www.abismoanhumas.com.br/#!__english cave? Since it costs a lot and we cannot dive? (465real)
(ps I try to make a topic per destination, I hope you guys don't mind but this makes it hopefully a little bit more overviewable on the forum)

Whale watching Praia Do Rosa (Florianopolis)
Hi Guys,
Me and my brother are going to Florianopolis for a few days on our trip around Brazil, I read in lonely planet that you can go whale watching at Praia Do Rosa. Is it worth it? (I have done whale watching in Argentina - Puerto Madryn; and would like to have my brother the same experience ;) )
Is it doable to get there by public bus?
Besides parties/beaches ; is there any other nature/culture stuff worth doing at Florianopolis? We would be there for 3 days.
greetings,
(ps I try to make a topic per destination, I hope you guys don't mind but this makes it hopefully a little bit more overviewable on the forum)

Visiting Pantanal (from Bonito)
Hi Guys,
Me and my brother are planning to visit the Pantanal in september, coming fromBonito and returning to Campo Grande.
But I have a few questions ;)
1) Any suggestions of which tour company to use (need one that I can contact up front and make the booking); like gilspantanaldiscovery, but I'm not getting any response when mailing them.
2) Is it worth it to stay 4 days instead of 3 days? (most operators offer both packages and the additional cost isnt much for the extra day..)
3) Do we need malaria pills?
4) When we leave to the pantanal from Bonito, is this possible? to save some time.
thanks!

Paraty over Christmas and New Year
Hi,
My girlfriend and I are travelling around Brazil in December and January. We are thinking of basing ourselves in Paraty for a while. Is it possible to stay here and venture out for day trips around hot spots? We dont want to go onto Ilha Grande over New Years as we have heard from locals that is it mayhem and not so nice. This was our original plan but are now weighing up our options to stay somehwere and trip around.
Anyone have any good suggestions? Anyone have a cracking place to spend NYE?
Cheers

Itinerary questions
I'm planning a trip to Brazil for 3 months from early December to late February, in & out of Rio and leaving before Carnaval. I know Brazil is expensive and high season but it is the only time I can come. Planning on staying in Backpacker hostels. After a few days in Rio, I'd like to go somewhere nearby for more beach time. Any suggestions for Paraty-Ilha Grande versus Buzios or another beach (with a hostel or similarly priced accomodation)? then I'm planning to return to Rio so either direction from Rio is ok. Then head inland to Minas Gerais towns then back to coast and up to Salvador. If I decide to do a trip to Pantanal (most likely Campo Grande), in terms of weather and wildlife viewing, would it be better to go to Pantanal in early December (when LP writes it is hot and mosquitoey) or mid-February (which LP says is rainy)?

brazil to bolivia
I am planning to visit Brazil in early 2014 and would like to slot in a week to 10 days in Bolivia (primarily to visit Uyuni), so would like some info on the best way to travel - presumably, fly - between the two countries. I have been researching flights from either Rio or Sao Paulo to La Paz and keep getting flight times of around 20 hours. Is this really the case? I had been to the two countries some 20 years ago (part of a longer itinerary around South America) and remember flying from Rio to La Paz and while it has been so long ago, I am pretty sure it did not take me that long. If I recall right, there was just a stop at Santa Cruz, but all the flights I am finding now seem to require going first to Lima, Santiago, or Bogota! I am hoping I am missing a shorter option.
Thanks for any help.
(Cross-posting this in the Bolivia forum.)

Where to spend my last 4 days in Brazil
Hi all, I realize this is a highly subjective question but here goes anyways... I will be in Brazil for a couple weeks the beginning of Brazil visiting a friend. The first part of the trip is all arranged--we are going to Sao Paulo, Rio, and Iguacu--but i get to pick the last destination (!). With so many amazing places to visit it is very hard to decide!
So, i am looking at:
The Panatal and/or Bonito (both or one over the other?)
Praia de Pipa
Salvador
The Amazon
or?
Thus far leaning towards the Panatal and/or Bonito or Praia da Pipa. Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
