passport pictures for visa
American Airlines would not issue a boarding pass for flight to La Paz unless I had $135 in cash, hotel reservation, yellow fever shot, and two passport pictures. I had everything except pictures. Had to go out of terminal to catch a cab who took me to nearest Walgreen where I got pictures taken. On arrival at LA Paz airport no one asked for the pictures.

Travelling from rio to lima
Hi all,
Later this year I will be in South America. i am flying in to Sao Paulo and I have about 6 weeks to make my way across to Lima. I haven't booked any transport anywhere within the continent. On the way across over to Lima I'd really like to be able to visit Rio, Torres del Paine, Buenos Aires, and maybe Santiago.
Do you think its possible or not really worth it seeing all those places.
Do any of you have any suggestions on cheap ways of getting between these places?
Thanks for your help.

Choosing honeymoon destination
Hello fellow travellers,
I'm trying to figure out the best destination for our honeymoon next year in February. I get to choose where we go and prepare the whole shabang, but she imposed the conditions ( to which I agreed). The criteria are few but very precise.:
- see vulcanoes and heavy vulcanic activity (lots of fumaroles, mud pots, volcanoes etc);
- clear skies and good temperatures to have beach time;
- no need to take malaria pills;
- good diving spots
- if possible: see whales (but this is the least important one)
Thank you very much!!! more »

Huaraz - Hiking Partner, Laguna 69, Sunday May 18
Hi everyone,
I'm taking a day hike to Laguna 69 in Huaraz on Sunday, May 18 with my girlfriend. In my experience, day tours in Peru spend too much time eating lunch at restaurants that have agreements with the tour company and not enough time at the main destination. Reviews I've read of the Laguna 69 tours are none the exception.
My girlfriend and I are going to contract a taxi for the day. It will provide transport from Huaraz to the Laguna 69 trailhead, wait for us while we trek, and stop anywhere else we want on the way there/back. The total cost will be around 250 Soles, so if we get 2-3 more people it will cost the same as a day trip with the tour operators.
We are late 20s/early 30s and in good shape. If you are in reasonable shape and would like to join, please let me know!
Best,
Jose

Supermarket - how do I tell them I don't want the change
At the supermarket you will typically get a total of an odd amount, e.g. 3493. The cashier asks something in a typical quick slurring mumble which will include "7 pesos" (for this example), that's all I've ever been able to make out . I have assumed they are asking do I want the change of 7pesos, but whether I say "no", "si", or "no quiero", or "no quiero vuelta", or "no quiero cambio", they still give me those useless coins. Can someone tell me what they are saying, and what I can say so I don't get given those no value coins.

Galapagos
Hi Everyone,
I'm planning to go to Ecuador in July. I am wanting to do a day trip(s) from Quito to the Galapagos. I'm looking for a tour company who do day trips. Also, I use a wheelchair so I would need a company that can work with wheelchair needs and know about the accessibility on the islands.
Thanks in advance!

flights to J P
Not having much luck sourcing flights from North America going into or close to Joao Pessoa. That is, without going thru Sao Paulo. Coming from Canada. Dont mind connecting flights out of the U. S. If you have done this route we would like to hear from you.

Need help with Peru itinerary!!
Hello Travel Experts!
We just booked our international tickets to Peru and I need some help planning my itinerary there. We're getting into Lima on June 28th and will be headed back to the US on July 7th. Here's what I have so far:
June 29th- morning flight to Puerto Maldonado - 3 nights in Refugio Amazonas
July 2nd - fly to Cusco (afternoon flight) - 2 nights in Cusco (tues, wed nights)
July 4th (thu) - stay in olly (SV sights, Pisac)
July 5th (Fri) - early morning train to MP, spend day in MP, stay in Aguas calientes - Friday night
July 6th (Sat) - train back to Cusco. Spend last day and night relaxing in Cusco
July 7th (Sun) - early morning flight to Lima, intl flight back to US at 2:15 in the afternoon.
Couple of questions regarding this itinerary:
1. Does it make sense to spend 3 nights in PEM, or should I make it 2 nights and spend 1 extra day in the Cusc...
