peruvian sim card
is there a relatively inexpensive prepaid sim card with coverage in the major locations: lima, arequipa, puno and cuzco? one that includes a data plan would be super.

Job Offer Cusco
Hi,
I'm not sure what the etiquette regarding this is on the forums but if anybody is planning in staying in Cusco for a few weeks/months and wants a job in a new bar that has just opened here then contact me. I'm the manager and we need people that speak English (high season is coming) and preferably Spanish too although we already have the Spanish part covered with the rest of the staff (all Latino). The Facebook page for the bar is:
https://www.facebook.com/Hyqnotiqcusco?fref=ts
As I said, if you're interested let me know!
Cheers
Patrick

Puno -- Homestay on Taquile and back to Cusco on my own
Hello fellow travelers
I would like to travel from Puno with my family and do a homestay on Taquile on Lake Titicaca, hopefully with a brief stop at los Uros.
I have heard/read you can just wander to the docks at Puno in the morning and find a boat out and once on the island you can easily find a local family to stay with for the evening.
My question is how to figure out the return from Taquile to Puno the next day and to coordinate the leg from Puno to Cusco the next afternoon.
Has anyone done this WITHOUT a professional tour group that could help me out with this.
We are interested in combi/collectivo travel if possible or local buses.
We would prefer to give our money directly to the boat captain or the local families so they can benefit.
Thanks to the community for all the great postings so far.

Safety in Peru
Hello,
We are a couple considering a trip to Peru in late August - early September. If we go, we will be travelling individually (avoiding group travelling) and essentially using public transport/taxis. Our intention is to travel to Cuzco- Macchu Piccu, Nazca, Manu area, and Iquitos region.
We are quite concerned however over security warnings. We have been travelling a lot, so know well the basic security rules, but prefer to avoid placed with a very high security risks. Is Peru indeed one of such places? What is your feeling on this? Is this just petty crime (bag-snatching) or armed robberies that happen often in the places/regions we target?
Many thanks in advance,

Rental car advice? Gas availability, rideshare?
Howdy. A partner and I are traveling in Peru next month via rental car. We're going from Lima to Cusco, to Puno, to Arequipa, and back to Lima. We want a car because we love veering off the highway onto side roads.
Is that general itinerary suitable for a small rental car? How is gas availability? Should I buy and carry a spare gas can?
We're into sharing the ride. What's the best rideshare service for Peru?
thanks

what to see outside Arequipa with a fear of heights?
Hi,
I am presently in Arequipa for a few more days. I want to see outside the city. Unfortunately, all that is suggested to me involves major heights -Colca Canyon, El Misti etc... I love the outdoors and long walks, villages, flora/fauna, textiles... Any suggestions?
Many thanks.

LIMA
We will be staying in Lima for 3 nights in June. Where will it be nice to stay, we do not want to be too far from the interestingplaces to visit. It is not easy to choose from the different areas of this huge city.
What advices for transportation inside Lima ? How can we recognise a safe taxi ? Do they have meters? Are buses reliable ? On arrival, taxi station is reliable ? What price to go into the city ?
Thanks for all answers

Huaraz - Hiking Partner, Laguna 69, Sunday May 18
Hi everyone,
I'm taking a day hike to Laguna 69 in Huaraz on Sunday, May 18 with my girlfriend. In my experience, day tours in Peru spend too much time eating lunch at restaurants that have agreements with the tour company and not enough time at the main destination. Reviews I've read of the Laguna 69 tours are none the exception.
My girlfriend and I are going to contract a taxi for the day. It will provide transport from Huaraz to the Laguna 69 trailhead, wait for us while we trek, and stop anywhere else we want on the way there/back. The total cost will be around 250 Soles, so if we get 2-3 more people it will cost the same as a day trip with the tour operators.
We are late 20s/early 30s and in good shape. If you are in reasonable shape and would like to join, please let me know!
Best,
Jose

Need help with Peru itinerary!!
Hello Travel Experts!
We just booked our international tickets to Peru and I need some help planning my itinerary there. We're getting into Lima on June 28th and will be headed back to the US on July 7th. Here's what I have so far:
June 29th- morning flight to Puerto Maldonado - 3 nights in Refugio Amazonas
July 2nd - fly to Cusco (afternoon flight) - 2 nights in Cusco (tues, wed nights)
July 4th (thu) - stay in olly (SV sights, Pisac)
July 5th (Fri) - early morning train to MP, spend day in MP, stay in Aguas calientes - Friday night
July 6th (Sat) - train back to Cusco. Spend last day and night relaxing in Cusco
July 7th (Sun) - early morning flight to Lima, intl flight back to US at 2:15 in the afternoon.
Couple of questions regarding this itinerary:
1. Does it make sense to spend 3 nights in PEM, or should I make it 2 nights and spend 1 extra day in the Cusc...
