Photography Holidays
There are a number of operators offering photography holidays or tours in Iceland.
Has anyone any experience with any operators and which ones would they recommend?

Northern Lights Travel Partner
Hi Everyone. I will be in the Tromso area from January 17-21 to photograph the Northern Lights. I just saw that hotels and car rental prices are very high, so if anyone plans to be there during the same time and is interested in joining me, please let me know!

The Vik i Mrydal Walkabout
I don't know if this will be useful for Icelandic-bound travellers but a friend and I did a 4-hour walkabout in the southern village of Vik and I recently blogged about it here.
It's a pretty little village that's big on sights and summers are wonderful.
There's mountain hiking and puffin-watching. Something I will do when I get up there next time.

Bus from Reykjavik to Grundarfjordur in March?
Hi
I'd like to visit Grundarfjordur in March but am struggling to find any way of getting there by public transport. The LP guidebook says there is a bus 5 times a week during winter, but I cannot find any confirmation of this online.
The only company I've found it Sterna - but they only seem to run this route during the summer.
I don't drive, so cannot hire a car.
Is there any hope!?
Cheers

Greenland May 2013
Hi all,
Denmark + Greenland:
I will be in Denmark (18 - 22 May) and Greenland (23 - 30 May). For Greenland : Ilulissat, Sisimut and Kangerlussuaq. Any others too? And any tips to maximise every buck? I'm concerned about accommodation and other activities should I decide to join tours.
Also any recommendations for Denmark? Mons Klint looks nice but really hard to get to... If not, then just places around Copenhagen (Malmo, Rodskilde, Hillerod, etc.).
Cheers

March vs April for scandinavian travel
Hi, I am planning on traveling Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, St Petersburg and Moscow in March or April of this year. I do have a bit of flexibility on the month but neither are great options weatherwise from what i understand. The deciding factor will be weather. I can make April work, but March would be preferable. Is there going to be much difference in weather? or enough to try to bend my schedule to go in april instead of march? thanks so much!!

Bergen Hotels
We will be in Bergen during late August 2013. We are looking for a budget hotel/place to stay and would like to keep the cost to between $100 and $125.
My questions:
1) Is it possible to get a room with a private bath in that price range?
2) Is my price range realistic - prices in Bergen seem quite high.
3) Any recommendations?
A room in a private residence will be OK even if there is no private bath but I want to avoid a large hotel if there is no private bath and we try to avoid traditional 4 or more to a room hostels.
Any info will be appreciated.

Travelling with a 1 1/2-year old
Hi - We are planning to travel the first time with our son in September 2013 (1 1/2-years at this time) for about 3 weeks.
Has anybody personal travel experiences with a young child either with a camper or car (sleeping in cabins on camping grounds). - We won't rush around. If we like a place we will stay for a couple of days.
We are also looking for a child friendly hotel in Oslo.
Thanks in advance.

Iceland in late September - a good idea?! inc laugavegur
Hello
I am planning two weeks in Iceland with my boyfriend, and really looking forward to it. We will want to do a loop of the ring road doing as much as we can on the way (inc the usual suspects, Golden circle, whale watching, etc etc) and the Laugavegur trail.
We were really surprised by quite how expensive the accomodation is, and it really drops in price in the last two weeks of September, but the weather at this point is not too bad in general (we don't mind a bit of rain).
Has anyone else done this, and did it make much different? Are most of the roads passable at this time?
And the Laugavegur hike. Is this doable in late Sept, or really not advised? If it isn't doable, we may go and do Laugavegur first (literally the last few possible days - 13-16 or something) and then do the ring road after. What is the latest date that the Laugavegur hike is really possible? I ca...

Landmannalaugar-Porsmork Hike
I am planning to walk the above trail this summer. Within the June to August window is there a period when the weather is less changeable than at other times or do I book the huts and hope for the best? I have the Lonely Planet guidebook and details of the owners Ferdafelag Islands. Is it too early to book now or should I get it out of the way as soon as possible? I will stay at the four huts.

Also, I don't own a mobile phone but it might be a good idea if I took one along the hike for safety purposes. I can either buy a 'pay as you go' phone here in the UK or wait until arrival in Iceland; which is better?

Svalbard in February
Will be in Svalbard from 15-17 Feb (first day of sun!!!). Does anyone know if there is enough sun to see the scenery then? Also, if you're going to be there during that time, holler! Would love to meet up with people for coffee or activities.

Iceland in April
Hi Guys,
I'm planning to visit Iceland in April with my partner. I have a week and a lonely planet guide and flights so far, and just have a few questions for any locals.
I want to get out of Reykjavik - any recommendations on a good second base so that we can do some sightseeing and stop elsewhere for a couple of nights?
Is it better to hire a car and see some sights ourselves, or are organised tours able to get more packed in? I was thinking of hiring a car for a few days, and then using public transport when in and around Reykjavik - does this sound reasonable?
How good/bad are the roads likely to be in early April?
Is the "golden circle" easily accessible from reykjavik by public transport in April? If so I can use the hire car to get to some more remote places hopefully.
Any other hints, tips and recommendations would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your he...

Iceland's Northen Lights help please!
Me and some friends are going to Iceland in the middle of February. We have just less than a week and wanted to get as much in as possible during the time. My main purpose to go is to eat Hakarl but reading up on Iceland there is clearly soooo much more to do. I would absolutely love to see the Northen Lights but know nothing about them. Is it the right time of year? do i need to go somewhere in particular to see them? Any information at all would be really useful. General recommendations on our itinerary would be cool too.
Thanks in advanced.
