Flights to Copenhagen from Toronto

Hey,
Im planning on going to Copenhagen from Toronto for 2 weeks at some point this summer. I've been looking at flights throughout the summer period and the cheapest that i can find is $1547 for a return flight. Any idea if the prices will go down at some point? Or are they usually that expensive for summer travel? Ive looked at the seat availability and they seem to be be fairly empty so far. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Icelandic Drinking Law

I'm visiting Iceland in the summer with a friend (18 and 19) and we were wondering how strictly enforced drinking laws are there. From what I've heard from other (better-travelled) people, here in England we've some of the most strictly enforced laws in Europe, but I've been served in a variety of places since I was 16, and I'm hoping that I haven't lost the two-year headstart and I'll be able to enjoy a few brennivins and beers even though the age is 20.

I went to Iceland briefly a few months ago (hence the longer trip now; how could you not want to go back?!) and I think I had a beer in a restaurant (I can't remember, but I wouldn't have thought much of it because I assumed it had a laxly-enforced age of 18 like most other nordic countries - I had more than a few beers in Denmark about a year ago, no questions asked) but I was with family for a meal so they may have bent the rul... more »

Car Hire & Divorce or Organised Tours & Bankruptcy?

Hello!

My husband and I have just booked to go to Reykjavik for 4 days at the very begining of May.

We are looking at seeing many of the various amazing sights - Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon, Whale Watching, etc

But looking at the tours available the cost is quickly mounting up and I am wondering if it is better to hire a car and find our own way considering that we want to do quite a lot whilst we are there?!

With airport transers adding up to £80 return for two people, £50 each for Golden Circle Tour, £20 odd each for Blue Lagoon, etc, etc it is quickly adding up to way more than what car hire would.

My husband is a confident driver, but having never been anywhere like Iceland before we feel a little aprehensive about finding our way around - so my question is, how easy is it to navigate your way around? Are the road signs clear? Is it easy to get hold of the route for ... more »

From Frankfurt to Oslo

Hi everyone

I'm looking for the best way to travel from Frankfurt to Oslo (quite short notice). Does anyone know how the bus/rail options are? I would love to be able to see the countryside from the window but not if the trip itself takes too long or isn't a good experience. I need to take a rather big back pack with me as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Cost of Copenhagen

Hi. In July I am traveling to Copenhagen to spend the summer with my girlfriend. I will be staying with her so I don't need a hotel or a car. However, I would like to do some shopping and sight seeing. I will have about $1,000 US Dollars (i think that's about 5000 DKK), should that be enough for three weeks?

Landmannalaugar daytrip

We love to visit Landmannalaugar for a daytrip in June.
We are driving by a normal car so need a transfer to Landmannalaugar near Vik, Hella, or any other place to advice.

We don't want to do the daytrip from Rekjavik because this allows you only two hours at Landmannalaugar.
I thought about renting a 4x4 for one day but than we also have to go back to Rekjavik to pick up this car.

Does anybody know if there is something like a 4x4 taxiservice or have a better idea to visit this area.

All ideas are welcome.

We know there is a bus but it drops you not back on the same spot.
We could stay overnight for one day if needed.

Greetings Brenda

Finland and Sweden July/August 2013

Hello all.
I have researched myself into a bit of a meltdown; so many things I would like to do. I have a couple of specific questions though...

Finland;
I will be staying a few days in Helsinki, then I was planning to go up to Lahti where I can catch a boat/ferry to take me to Jyvaskyla for a night or two and then I can boat/ferry again to Kuopoio. There are all these lakes and It sounds like a great idea to travel via lake rather than via road. Then I thought I might lake my way down to Savonlinna where I could spend a couple of days or more. I am planning on ending my stay in Turku though, and catching a ferryfrom there to Sweden. So possibly it would be more sensible to travel in the other direction especially since I cannot find a direct train/bus from Savonlinna to Turku. What do you guys, who know the area better think? Is it easy to do a direct trip from Savonlinna to T... more »

Rekyjavik In late Feb- inspiration

Hello!

Me and a friend are going to Rekyjavik for 3 days next week (mid Feb) . We already have golden circle, northern lights and blue lagoon tours booked- so just wondered if anyone had any advice on:

a)- Things to do in the actual city -( we only really have one day so top tips!) -including sights, museums, restaurants, bars in the evening,

b) What to wear?! Presumably warm and waterproof. FoIr the Golden Circle tour, are hardy walking boots advisable?

Thank you!

Northern Lights Tromso

I'll be heading to Tromso in the hope of seeing the Northern Lights in November, December or January. Can anyone give advice on which month may be any better/worse for either seeing the lights or any other reason - weather, activities, festivals etc.... Also, in my NL research, the biggest thing seems to be the issue of cloud cover and snow. Are any months better for clear skies? I won't be expecting to see them in Tromso City itself (although that woud be a welcome bonus!), and I plan to head out on a tour each night (4- 5 nights), so would cloud cover be a problem then, or can the guides simply keep travelling to find clear skies? Also, would any one recommend (for or against) a cruise/dog sled/reindeer tour to chase the lights? I thought a combination of these would be an option so that if the Lights don't appear, at least I won't just be driving around in a bus every night. Of cou... more »

Cheapest way from Amsterdam to Oslo?

If anyone could give me some suggestions for cheap transport from Amsterdam to Oslo, that would be extremely helpful! I'm looking to get to Oslo on March 31, and lengthy transportation is not an issue.

The cheapest option I've found so far is to take Megabus from Amsterdam to Brussels, then take Ryanair from Brussels to Oslo. This ads up to about $150 USD. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Lofoten Islands

Has anybody of you ever travelled from Narvik to Svolvaer by bus?
Do you know where exactly the busses depart in Narvik and where I could find a timetable on the internet?
Which is the best place to go whale watching on the Lofoten Islands? I've heard about Andenes but I thought it is quite expensive. Is there any cheaper possibility?
Thanks a lot!
