Camping: White gas availability
Hi there!
I specific question: is white gas/naphta available in Iceland?
And if so, also outside Reykjavik?
I'd much appreciate info on this one!

Car rental
Hello Travellers!
Me, my sister and his boyfriend are going to Iceland on August to do a road trip.
We though about renting a car. I have been looking up on the websites but all the offers are very very expensive.
We will arrive at keflavik airport by night so we either rent a car at the airport and go to the hostel for the first night or we could rent a car that day aftern in keflavik downtown.
Do you guys know about any reasonable rental car shops in KeflaviK?
(with reasonable i mean 60€ per day)
thanks a lot.

Iceland, 10 days in June itinerary advice
Hi, I am going to Iceland for the first time from June 2 to June 10. I'm going to spend the first three nights in Reykjavík and then I have one week to tour the country (I have a car hire).
For that week I'm trying to decide whether I should use it for a trip to the Westfjords and the North (Akureyri, Grimsey, Eyjafjorour) or if I should skip the Westfjords and complete the Ring Road?
For the Westfjords, does anyone have advice on whether it's best to go to Isafjorour and then head toward the SW or toward the NE?
Also, if I decide to visit both of these areas and I hired a compact car, is it possible to take Route 35 through the interior back to Reykjavik if I drive slowly so that I can avoid going all the way around the Ring Road or driving back the way that I came?
One other question on accommodation: Do I really need to book ahead for all of my accommodation e...

hiking boots or just good walking shoes
Since I pack really light so I don't have to check luggage and since hiking boots are quite large (of course, I could wear them on the plane but would rather not), I am wondering if for regular sight-seeing of lava, glaciers, coasts, etc. but not real hiking trips, are walking quality shoes good enough or do I really need my hiking boots for such places.
Thanks for input as I am packing my suitcase today!

The Island of Papey
I read about this Island and i wonder if it's worth to visit there because all the tour is taking 4 hours. The papins i'm sure i'll see in other places in the island. I'm touring to the direction of the watch for 19 days. I intend to visit also Westman Island so i know that there will be also a lot of papins.
What do you think about this tour?

Photography in Southeast Iceland
At the beginning of June I've got 3 days in Iceland on the back side of a trip to Amsterdam, so I'm doing a frenzied adventure to the southeast coast. I've got a 4x4, a tent and my nice camera gear. I'm looking for dramatic landscape locations in that area. I'm doing a shoot at Jokulsarlon (glacier lagoon) and I'll also hit Laki and Skaftafell.
I'm looking for suggestions for other awesome landscape photo locations anywhere from KEF to Hofn. Not afraid to veer away from the ring road. The more remote the better. Thanks much for any suggestions!

Purchase/rent Hiking Poles in Reykjavik end of May
My partner and I are flying to Reykjavik from Halifax Nova Scotia and then, after 2 days, on to the Faroe Islands with return 11 days later. Do you know where we could rent or purchase hiking poles in Reykjavik? Usually we just find a sturdy branch for hiking on our travels but I believe the Faroes lack suitable trees for this. I think with airline fees it might be cheaper to pick some up in Reykjavik rather than bringing them along from home.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sherman

iceland for 4 nights
My 12 year old daughter and I will be going to iceland for 4 nights before going on to visit friends in Germany for 2 weeks. I have been so focused on the German portion of the trip that I have barely thought about Iceland!
About us:
We can endure hours by foot or on bike but we aren't super athletic (we get there but we're slow!).
We won't rent a car and currently live in NYC so we are used to buses, cabs and trains anyway
Pretty high tolerance for crappy weather (and being out in crappy weather)
We both get a little seasick
We don't need to see tourist sites
She LOVES animals and nature and science
We have done tours of at least 20 chocolate factories so I am hoping http://www.noi.is/English does tours!
I was thinking of doing this tour with her:

trying to tour the chocolate factory
maybe a horse ride some place

Iceland--One Day in June
Hi all,
Have a stopover flight landing at 6:15 AM on Sunday, June 2 and departing at 1:15 AM on June 3.
Not too much time to explore, but I wanted to get a taste of what Iceland has to offer (hoping to be back for a longer amount of time soon!)
I am hoping to check my bags through to my final destination in Stockholm and just travel with a carry-on for the day. I have already arranged to take the Flybus into town in the morning and return in the evening.
Does anyone have any recommendations for tour companies? I would like to see/hike some of the natural scenery but also wanted to spend some time in REY as well. I'd prefer a smaller group tour (think mini-bus or large van vs. luxury coach bus) but I'm having a hard time narrowing down companies and tours at the moment.
Any feedback would be much appreciated!
Thanks!!

Askja share travel costs in June
Hello there.
I'm going to be in Iceland in June for 10 days and I'll be in Mývatn area for 3 days 21-23 June. I'm renting a "normal" car, so I can't make my way to Askja with my car.
Is there anyone that would like a contribution to towards their costs for a day trip? We
