Hi,
we (four friends) are planning a 2 week trip in Iceland late July 2010. We are wondering if it is possible to rent a motorhome/campervan in Iceland? Does anyone have any experience with exploring Iceland this way?
We realize that without a 4x4 we won't be able to head inland, but we would consider joining a one-day 4x4 tour.
Any tips/suggestions for a 2 week itinerary are welcome.
Thanks,
Chris

Hello,
I'd like to find out which rental offices rent cars cheaper than Hertz.
Another problem : I land the 23d of december at 23:55h
Most offices are closed the 24th, only Hertz is open, i find on the net.
The net has a lot of info, but blocks out a lot too.
Anyone can help?

Hey Guys--We're coming for a short visit to Goteborg in about 10 days. I 'd love some suggestions of good, inexpensive places to eat. We like trying new stuff and are hoping to find someplace with good husmanskost. Also any recommendations of where to go for a good smorgasgord/Julebord. We'll only be there from Thursday--Sun., but any suggestions would be great. Cheers Bruce and Suzon

hi folks,
I'll do a trip to southern norway from late december until january with the base in the tovdal area. I would like to take a round trip by rented car including setesdal, southern hardangervidda, rogaland (sand, hjelmeland), stavanger, kristiansand.
what about the road conditions during his time of the year, particularly the high altitude stretches in upper setesdal and hardangervidda? any advise is very appreciated.

Hi,
Myself and some friends are visiting Tromso in early January. I am wondering if it's possible to take public transport outside the city at night time, i've read on here that if you travel away from the city lights you have good chance of seeing the lights without need for a guide. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi there,
I am travelling to Stockholm for only 3 days at the beginning of Jan. I would like to see some of the obvious tourist sites but also want to explore the arty/creative/musical side of Stockholm. Could anyone out there please recommend areas and places to visit?!!
Thank you!
Hej hej!
We, two german girls, studying in Umea, are planning to go on a Lapplandtrip around Christmas. We want to go up the swedish coast (Skellefteå,Luleå), via Rovaniemi, through Finland to the North Cape and then down the coast of Norway again (Tromsø, Lofoten Islands) and then back via Kiruna.
The whole trip will probably take about two weeks and we are looking for fun people who would like to join us. We want to hire cars, so it would be great if you had a driver*s license.
The exact travel dates and the travel route are not fixed yet, but we need to book soon, so if you want to spend your Christmas holidays visiting Santa, the reindeers, dog sledding, visiting the ice hotel and hopefully seeing some whales as well, .....
contact us as soon as possible,

Hi All
Planning a trip for last week in january and was wondering if someone could give some pointers on what can be seen/accomplished in 4 days. We (couple) arrive at 1pm in Reykjavik on a thursday and leave on sunday evening.
I thought 1st night in Reykjavik and then in a hotel south for the other 2 nights. What is there to see in Reyk? Not massive museum goers etc, would rather be out in the snow or wilderness.
I was thinking:
day 1: arrive, rent car, drive to Blue lagoon, spend the night in Reyk
day 2: drive the golden circle, check into hotel (Hella, south iceland), watch the aurora (hopefully!!)
day 3: would like to travel down the south coast to skogafoss, glacier, black beach (here?) and futher down to Kvíárjökull glacier, is this possible in winter in one day?
day 4: not sure but have to leave in the evening
I realise the light hours are short and its winter...

Hi there,
I'm in Uppsala for work, but I have 48 hours free next week, from Wednesday December 9th to the 11th. I've been to Stockholm and I was thinking about Copenhagen, Helsinki or staying in Sweden. What do you recommend?
I'm interested to get a feel of the city, seeing sights, a museum... Also, if you could recommend hostel.
many thanks!

Hi,
Anybody who has been to Copenhagen know if there are any ATMs that don't charge fees? If not, any idea which ATMs charge the least amount of fees for withdrawing cash?
Thanks so much!

Hi peeps, I had a look through the FAQ's and couldn't fine what I was looking for - apologies if I missed it.
Basically, I am looking to take my wife away in Late Jan/Early Feb 2010. We'd like to do something in Scandinavia but not entirely sure where, although from reading Sweden looks the most likely choice.
We would like to stay in an Ice Hotel, see the Northern Lights and I found some info on Google about Wilderness Tours which sounds interesting - travelling by huskies etc into the middle of nowhere and 'camping' out in cabins!
A lot of companies seemed to be in Sweden and did tours, but they seemed very high end luxury travel companies - some topping £1000UK which is over our budget. We have used overland / backpacker type companies in the past but can't find similar for in the area we are looking.
Ideally what we would like is a company that does packages for 3 - 5...
